Quote from Gentlefoot :No - but I saw it in the cat-alogue

Well, you definitely are the (Lion-)King of cat puns, that's for sure, and this thread obviously had a cat-alytic effect on that gift of yours .

(I know, I'm a cheap copy-cat)

As much as I fear losing my precious few prodiums and wins, I have to admit that it makes more sense to reset all statistical data. So be it .

You wouldn't happen to own "Kitty Litterature", the "purr-fect gift for any cat lover", Gentlefoot .

Sid seems to be an extremely nearsighted wrecker if you ask me. He needs glasses and should concentrate mor on racing than on examining the mini-map .

Cute cat, tbh, Astra .

Thx Tweaker and Quicksilver, glad you like the livery .

To be fair, though: JJ72's Amon LX4 was even below mine and it got 126 votes. So it doesn't seem as if the result had anything to do with the order of the skins on the voting-page.

And unless 10 more people openly declare to not have seen my skin on the voting page and would have voted for it if they had, I'm not going to contest the election .

Edit: by high-res you mean 2048x2048, Quicksilver?

I bought the Turbo Jam engine for 180.000, as the other available one was soo crap that I was afraid to not finish a single race with it. Seems that was my first mistake already. I also hired a crap designer of which I can't get rid of without loosing too much money to not being able to race.

My drivers are not too bad, though -- I guess. They both are supposedly good with sponsors and one is a girl. Which probably does not make any difference in this game, though. It should however. We all know that it's much easier to find sponsors if the driver is a (fairly good looking) girl .

Well, I see how it goes. If it turns out that my strategy is pure crap, I can always start from scratch .

I can't afford all departments, though. My engine is too damn expensive.

Okay, I was assigned to 71st division tonight and started my team.

A couple of questions for the veterans here:

1. Do I need a commercial manager to negotiate sponsors (I don't have one but I'm working on two deals each with 50% right now)?

2. Does it make any sense at all to hire a (crap) designer just yet to enhance my components?

Just need it a little startup help here .

You sure about this one? I've never heard or read anything about it, so I'm really just curious.

Quote from Hankstar :What a silly thread

Check it out for yourself though - click one of my signature heads (second one along) ...

Nice voice, Hankstar.

Mine is rather croaky as far as I can tell and a tad too high pitched for my liking (for some reason it seems to be deeper when I speak english, though). The positive side effect is that I don't have to raise it in order to be heard through cackle. That's what I'm told at least.

This is a strange thread, tbh.

Quote from Shotglass :kev is absolutely right ... way too many dupes
i hope the green volante classic makes it into the final cut i really do like that one

Sure, kev is always right, but afaik, he has not even posted in this thread .

Still, I don't see how the adaptation of a masterpiece of a skin would render the original idea/concept of that masterpiece worthless. You could maybe go as far as saying that the creator of that skin might have been a little lazy or unimaginative to only make one skin and one adaptation of that skin instead of two different skins, but than again, if your voting by that logic, everybody who entered only one skin should not have gotten any votes at all for being even lazier. And to call it "dupes" is outright insulting if I'm not mistaken about the meaning of the word.

I just signed up and after getting my confirmation code and locking in I get this:

Quote :Your account has not been associated with a league, this could occur if you experienced problems during your account creation or if you have recently re-enabled an account that has been dorment for some time. Please wait until after the next end of season tick when you will be assigned a league number.

Would anybody happen to know what that means? Afaik I didn't experience any problems during account creation and I certainly didn't re-enable an old account .

Quote from Blackout :It depends how you think about it. But for me there is 12 skins which are not in any way original because they have identical copy.

What I don't understand about this reasoning is, how an identical copy for a different car devaluates the "original"... In other words: Does a copy of Guernica make Picassos original less of a masterpiece? (not that any of the skins are in anyway comparable to Guernica, of course )

Quote from Blackout :12 copy&paste jobs in the top 20. What's the point having identical skins on two different cars, I don't know.

How could there be 12 copy&paste jobs if there's only 2 times 10 skins? That's a theoretical maximum of 10 copy&paste jobs if you ask me .

Anyway, pure disappointment for me . There are actually 2 skins out of the 20 I like and I fear those will not even be included by the devs. But that's democracy, I suppose .

I don't mind the way the agree-function is implemented right now. Whether it will be of some benefit, I don't know, but we'll see.

What I strongly oppose is a "thank you not"/"disagree"-button as has been suggested. That one will most definitely be abused by immature forum-users. But I really doubt Victor ever considered such an option anyway.

Quote from Becky Rose :That will change, but not until the single seater tier is fully open, both CTRA Race and CTRA Single Seater servers share the same algorythm and it didnt seem fair to hold single seater drivers whilst we're waiting for enough drivers for server 2 to open - which wont be long.

So it will change for CTRA race also, right? And will I still be able to score points when racing on race2 with XFG or XRG then? Or is the algorithm in fact car and not server based?
Linsen

And for the "standard" tier neither. You definitely get points with silver and above on race1.

I actually always thought it worked the way haelje says. Meaning: if you drive a car that's below your licence-level, you get less points. So theoretically it wouldn't make a difference which server you were on. But now I'm not sure if that's the way it works. If it does, you would potentially get the same points on race1 and race2 if you drive the XFG f.e. .

Quote from Becky Rose :One thing that is very easy to do is to give too much room to a car that doesnt have overlap, and a lot of drivers do that because they dont want to have an accident. This is unfortunately not the passers fault. Every situation is different of course, but I like to slam the door shut if I think it's safe enough to do so.

I'm one of those, I'm afraid. Not always but way too often. That's partly due to me still not being exactly aware of the width of my car. So it's lack of skill on my part. I'm aware that by doing this, I not only spoil my race-result but also the racing of others -- I mean, how much fun is it to pass someone who's not even trying to put up a fight?

The other reason however is, that many passers are not aware of the fact that they're usually not on the ideal racing line when passing. Thus they're too fast and as a result push the passee wide or loose control in the middle of the turn or when accelerating out of it. And in public pick-up racing you only seldomly know who's beside you and how that person races. Is she/he clean, fully in control of the car and does he/she know the track well enough to know whether it's safe to pass or not? That's a problem inherent to online (pick-up) racing, though, and nothing can be done about it. I just know that I'd rather finish a race one position lower than necessary than not finishing it all -- so, sorry for being an easy victim every now and then .

Since many people committed themselves, I might as well admit that Justin's cell-skin was also my unrivaled number 1 pick. But I've always been a fan of justin's skins. I just like his style .

I just tested the hampered FOX for a few laps around FE3. I used a setup that was developed for a full-blown FOX, and I'm not the fastest racer out there, but you're more likely to get power oversteer in a UF1 than in a FOX with those restrictions. It's dull, boring, dull, boring and slow -- in that order. So, since the goal is to minimize carnage on the ss-server, I think the restrictions will achieve it, 'cause where nobody's racing, nobody's wrecking, I guess .

How about a step-by-step guide to reporting?

Say I'm in a server and was wrecked. I want to report the twat that wrecked me. What I do is this:

1. Wait till the next race starts (which I will probably miss, because I can't type and race at the same time).

2. I type "$report" and the report screen comes up

3. I enter all the needed data which would include ...

etc.

I haven't reported anyone, yet, so I don't know what to do next, if I want to store the report and review the replay later etc. and the description on the ctra-site is not sufficient for me, tbh. Maybe someone knowledgeable could write a guide?

Quote from Blackout :(...) but that's just a matter of taste.

Funny, but for me personally that's just about all this vote is about.

I don't care how complex a skin is or whether there's a second version of it for the other car. If I like it and if it's technically well made, I vote for it. What's the point in disregarding a skin for "formal" reasons?

Seems like some people are making a science out of this vote.
