Quote from Glenn67 :When I first read the announcment that's the first thing that went through my mind I even started to do searches on the guy out of curosity before I found the remaining comments

Even the likes of Modof, wGooden and Bawbag took at least a few weeks to start to get noticed

yup, with the exception of this occasion, all other drivers we've seen racing for quite some time, and have been well known to us. The only person thats been 'signed' without too much being known about them was our last member, Fox2, and bawbag had raced with him a couple of times in events, and it wasnt a decision made over a couple of hours with half the team having no knowledge of them etc.

Theres only so much double checking you can do, and i dont think there was much more we could have done short of not signing him, and someone certainly would have because plenty were asking. As i said, not sure what the final hurdle was that brought him down, but we'd already seeked assurance from a mod on this forum, and a teammate from AMBs now ex-team we felt we could trust, and i was ready to install additional checks to detect additional/unusual activity on our forum.

Oh well, were coming up to our 4 year Anniversary on Thursday, i'd say our record of driver signings speaks for itself, and the results back that up.
We're more than just a group of drivers, more like a (dysfunctional ) family, and 1 person certainly wont change that.

Quote from mikey_G :I'm curious how you did that, because afaik only moderators can do that, and I doubt moderators just give away IP addresses of s2 members...

Im sure they dont give away IP addresses, which i why i never asked for any IP addresses from them, but i would happily provide them with one in order to get more details about them.
Besides, i dont need an IP for that, i could just ask a forum mod if they can look at mBah's post IPs and see if the same IP has been used for another username, this is something i can do on our forum, but i dont have the user database like here.

Quote from Bob Smith :Hi Paul

For the address:
[removed]

I see two users on the forum:
Mbah
AMB

Those accounts have also tripped our duplicate account detector on the forum, [removed some info based on basic detection methods].

With both of those drivers being S2 licenced we have no problems with them both being used on the forum (assuming they are different people).

I have no idea what goes on in game, that's outside my duties.

Hopefully that is of some help.

Bob

I provided the IP address, as taken from mBah's registration to our forum, and asked for it to be double checked for duplicate forum accounts. Bob confirmed, however it doesnt mean too much, just that our suspicions could well be true, however we simply couldnt confirm it was 1 person, 2 accounts, or 2 people, 2 accounts, 1 computer.

We couldnt come straight out with 'are you AMB' because for 1, if he denied it which he could easily, just by saying he's a mate, we had no answer. Secondly it'd mean he knew we were watching him, so we werent asking too obvious questions (although IMO still too many not to p*ss off geniune new LFSers/new members) just ones we felt we could use to get a better assessment and at least ease our doubts.
At the same time, if he was genuine, we dont want to p*ss them off on the first day, with little/no proof.
At the moment, i dont know the real reason behind why 'mBah' decided to make his confession, but my guess is because Bawbag or one of the lads rumbled him rather than any guilty concience.

To be honest, it was mostly a case of seeing an opportunity of getting a new lfs racer who knows how to drive, just hasnt applied himself to LFS yet, and getting in there before others did.
We're not stupid, he seemed too good to be true (in terms of his claimed potential, with no experience in LFS) and worth taking a chance. When we've signed other drivers, i've set their site account up straight away as its a 2sec job (which i never did, because of our doubts) and i wasnt overly impressed this thread was started or the news put on our site, when we could hold off a while longer, but i wasnt around at the time or aware they were being done.
We've never done this before (as i think the original post says) for an unknown/unproven racer, and from the offset we had suspicions which is why i PM'd Bob about 3hrs after mBah put the wings on.

As Rooble said, it hasnt cost us anything (wasted a few hours of my day though) and it hasnt tarnished our name, we'll carry on as normal.
My guess is AMB/mBah will disappear, and he'll buy another new account in order to play hassle free. Im sure the dev's appreciate another £50 though, courtesy of AMB and his 48hr prank which acheived nothing.
For someone wanting to improve their standard of driving, by learning from the likes of drivers in our team or another team, i wouldnt say he's done too well from it really, hardly prank of the century is it, he's wasted a 2nd account he obviously bought for this use, and got himself kicked out of his original team, and if it provided fun for you Pearcy (or AMB/mBah), for the few hours you knew about it, congrats, but i wouldnt even bother MTV for Ashton Kutcher job

Quote from Mbah :It won't be wasted and certainly goes some way to redeeming himself IMO

...and instead start to tarnish your name, without you having done anything wrong.

Quote from Mbah :ok i'm sorry to say this, but I am not new to LFS, I am not Michael Southwood, I made this account and hoped to get into a fast team, I had loads of reasons to do so, mainly because I wanted to Learn from faster drivers and from my other account no one would help me as much as i have been helped in mercury, I tricked Mercury into believing i was new and like i said i am genuinly sorry and I hope Mercury does well in all future events, if Mercury feels like they want to tell the public my second account you can because I don't deserve to have it kept secret.

If any demo user wants a free S2 account PM me, first come first serve.

Sorry

My real S2 account is AMB as you are all so curious,

Cant say it comes as too much of a shock, we had your IP checked on this forum and our forum and it was confirmed then (Sunday morning) that there were 2 users using the same machine, the only thing we couldnt confirm was whether it was 1 or 2 people.
Over TS we were saying it all seemed too good to be true, that someone with so little experience would be able to pick LFS up quick enough, and put in decent times already, but how do you go about checking something like that...
As a newbie to LFS there was clearly potential, not so much when you known the combo's for ages.

'Southwood' was the first thing that seemed BS, but i guess half the reason for this confession comes from the fact that it must have been obvious by all the questions we kept asking you, like is your middlename Aston
I spent 2-3hrs last night messing about installing an IP logger to detect multiple IPs accessing the same forum account, so i cant say i appreciate losing that time when im already have issues keeping me from doing other more important projects and have even been staying off msn the last week just to remove distractions & interuptions.

Oh well, hope you enjoyed the tags while you wore them.

Quote from Bladerunner :

/me is here!!!

Man Utd .. all TWELVE OF THEM.. (Players plus teh REF!!) were lucky!
Chelski...All NINE of them (Drogba and Joe Cole seemed to forget there was a game on last night!) were bloody unlucky!
Avram Grant is a NOB, not a n00b...there is always hope for a n00b! (Any other comments may result in accusations of anti-Semitism)
In the same situation, (1 kick to win the biggest prize in Euro club football) there is no player I would want to see take it more than JT..He IS a legend, prolly the best skipper Chelsea have had since Chopper or Wisey ( and I DO remember Butch Wilkins as Chelsea captain!)

@Pearcy.. You AND family and mates in a pub watching the game? Didnt know you was from SURREY!!! (Only place I know with that many ManUre supporters in one place!)

FIFA Rulebook amendment..It is now acceptable to try and kick a player in the head while he is:
a) STANDING!!
and b) In the penalty area!
Any ref spotting this action should wave 'play-on' and definitely NOT send off golden-balls Ferdinand for Dangerous Play.
This same ref must at all times be accompanied by assistants that have absolutely NO knowledge whatsoever concerning what constitutes a CORNER and what is a GOAL KICK.

Quick reminder to everybody..it was the same ref that allowed a goal against Chelsea when the ball had not crossed the line (vs Liverscouse a couple of years ago!)

Happy now Bogey?

Well said Blade, thank god some people accept defeat rather than going all bitter and blaming everyone else.
Some lesser people would blame the referee, claim they were the better team despite having only 1 shot on target in 120 minutes, which was put on a plate for them.
Chin up ey!

Over £300m on players, the biggest game in the clubs history, and just 1 shot on target. Thats the stuff European champions are made of that is.

btw, those rules you outlined they are in rulebook, seriously!
Look up crowding the referee every time theres a decision to be made, and its okay if your in a Chewsee shirt, and then look at the rule below it, thats it right there! infact, if you look underneith the Utd rule, theres also the rule about chewsee being fine to hoof the ball from one end of the pitch to the other letting it go out for a throwing near the goal line (twice! despite Utd playing the first one straight to A.Coles feet) but the instance someone else does it, its okay to all crowd and bully him.
Theres plenty of these rules which nobody ever seems to notice isnt there, its like the one about Liverpool being fine to field crap (intentionally crap ) teams before big games if it means sod all to them, regardless of the fact that it has major significance to the team being given the 3pts. 2 seasons, Fulham have been saved from relegation on the last day of the season, the 3pts picked up against a weakend Scouse side kept them in the Premiership, but the rules say its perfectly okay, not unfair to the other teams they've actually made an effort against, and we all get on with it.

I dont know why, but part of me (the stupid parts i guess) kinda feel sorry for Chelsea, they played a fairly entertaining game instead of their traditional boring snoozefest game, they had their chances to win the game, and nobody deserves to lose on penalties, particularly in the way it happened... But a far larger part of me says good, i hate the Scousers considerably more, and i can admire Arsenals play (when they're not fouling people), but Chelsea play intentionally dull football, but at least both of them (LFC & AFC) got to where they are through their own success on the pitch, like United, and not through someones open checkbook in a way that is effectively cripling the club because it'll never be able to manage itself if the checkbook suddenly closed. Madrid are the same, having their debts wiped constantly and land being freely given to the club to train on, then a few years later conveniently being bought back at a stupidly inflated rate, magically giving them a huge profit.
There are significant elements of the way United is run which i hate as a ST holding manc, but the wages account for ~50% of the profit made just like all but a few of Prem teams (Chelsea & Newcastle being 2) and players purchased are done so from competition money, tv money, and ticket sales.... no different to any other traditional club. Maybe a lot of our success is bought, but its bought with our (utd) money, made from our success.

O/T:
Isnt it funny how United fans were up in arms when the Glazers wanted to buy United, borrow hundreds of millions while putting in a fraction of the money themselves, and once purchased, moving the debt off their heads and into the clubs name instead, putting a hugely profitable club (£20m/yr profit, after signings etc) into hundreds of millions of debt. FA's fair and proper check says thats all fine and dandy.
Ticket prices went up over 50% in the first 2 years, the 2nd year of which all ST holders were forced to purchase tickets for EVERY competitive home game, if they didnt want it, they could sell the ticket on a somehow legalised ticket touting website the club would profit off.
United fans, still not happy with their owners.

Liverpool fans welcome anyone they're stupid enough to wave a few quid at, ploughing debt into their club. FA's fair and proper check says thats smashing.
Both owners soon start slagging each other off, refusing to agree on transfers & policies, create unrest within the club, and it generates plenty of negative publicity about them.
Liverpool fans apparently arent too impressed with their wonderful owners these days.

Man City fans start partying when someone comes along claiming to be putting millions into transfers, CL football and everything else they're stupid enough to believe. FA's fair and proper check doesnt mind the reports of the abuse of human rights, nor the fact that his finances had been frozen due to corruption charges.
Shinawatra has laughably claimed to be bringing in Ronaldinho in the summer, is all set to sack their most successful manager since the premiership began, and has basically put the whole squad up for sale and plenty of their players are more than happy to get the heck out. Solicitors still havent recieved payments for the clubs purchase almost a year ago, and no real money has been spent on players despite claims of tens of millions in the kitty.
City fans apparently feel differently about their new owners.

Its a funny game isnt it, you just cant help some people, its only when the reality hits home of what you've actually stood by and allowed to be done to YOUR club, that you realise what a prat you've been.

Quote from The Moose :There's not many footy haters in this thread to be fair, just Man Utd haters

I guess there are a lot of people like that, who's team is incapable of mounting a realistic challenge for the league title, and have been 'turning the corner' so many times they're getting dizzy.

Quote from The Moose :The last thing i want to see is the cup going south!

Around 35 miles west of Manchester will be sufficient

Here here! Wouldnt it be great seeing Phil Neville lifting a major trophy at Goodison!

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I found my new talent, watching the game with my mates I called every single penalty, I said hit or miss before they kicked. I got it 100% right too, I said if Ronaldo missed then Terry is definately going to miss, and Anelka just looked like a mess and full of nerves when he stepped up. I think Ronaldo needs to stop that stupid double run up when taking penalties, all the best pen takers blast it into the bottom corner, no nonsense.

Before he took the penalty i was PLEADING with him to take his double run up. Every penalty i can remember him taking he's done that, and then this season, then against West Ham he didnt do it, Green knocks it away, Barcelona - it goes wide. Those are the only 2 times i can remember Ronaldo ever taking a 'conventional' style penalty, for the last 5 years in United or Portuguese colours, he's ran, paused, looked for the keepers reaction, and stuck it into a corner.
So dozens scored with the method, one saved.... i'd hardly call it unsuccessful, and it hasnt let him down before, and he's taken plenty of big penalties, incl one that knocked England out of Euro 06. He can keep taking them ahead of every other Utd player for my money, he doesnt shirk the responsibility, he's so full of himself he doesnt for one second seem to think he could miss, and scores them far more often than a keeper saves or he misses, and how many times have you seen players making that walk and you know they're heads screwed up under the pressure.

not a hope in hell, give him 3 more season and 3 more doubles, then he'll quit.
I supposed you'll still be turning the corner by then, round and round in circles getting nowhere

1 shot on target, coming from a 35 yard shot which was deflected twice, before becoming a sitter for Fwank 'It went in of the defender on the way in' Lampard.... robbed, absolutely robbed. Poor old chewseee

Quote from fujiwara :Its because football is not math - real science -, tell us what you felt when the bar rebounded the ball in the overtime

My guess is he felt a damn sight better than half the people here when Terry hit the post

I thought the pitch was still shocking, it was pretty clear to see from most players close ball control that it was rather unpredictable at times, with the odd bobble and that spoiled a lot of the football that could have been on display.

Still, I thought it was a very good game, United should have been 3-0 up and buried the game in the first 30-35min, then a pair of bad deflections and Lampard the deflection maestro himself seems to find the ball at his feet and VDS crawling all over the floor just let them back into the game for half time when it should have been done & dusted, name on the trophy time.
2nd half was all Chelsea for the first 30min, United came back in the latter stages. 2 posts hit, bit of a lucky escape, but then so is having your CM being stupid enough to hit shots straight at the goalie, maybe he couldnt see him in his fluorescent orange top?
Terry getting his noggin onto a toe-poked shot from Giggs again saved them, but it ended with penalties.
I dont think theres anyone who likes them, they go hand in hand with play-acting, shirt tugging and ref crowding as things that are sh!t about footie.

Im suprised only 1 was missed, and 2 were saved out of the 14 taken, there were definately a couple from the Utd lot i had my doubts about (infact, probably all but Ronaldo!).

It was a shame about the scrap at the end of injury time, frankly that whole incident was an embarrasment, twice Utd kicked the ball out to touch for injuries while in possession and a right to play on, both times Chelsea hoofed the ball down the other end of the field for a throw in. Chelsea kicked the ball out twice, the first time (the 2nd time in the game it'd been kicked out for injuries) United gave the ball back, was passed along the ground to iirc A.Cole's feet, the second time (4th in the game) Tevez knocks the ball out for a throw in, about 5-10 yards from where the throw-in was taken. Apparently thats not the sporting thing to do, and Tevez should be harrassed and shoved about?
For me, Ballack should have been booked, and as wrong as what Drogba did, and the rules back up the red card, for me it wasnt as bad as Ballacks actions because he came running in as the 2nd man shoving Tevez and sparked the whole incident. I really dont like Drogba, probably in the same way many dont like Ronaldo, for the play acting, his ability to out-muscle some of the best defenders in the world yet be made of polystyrene when he gets a tap, and his 'everyone is against me' look when the ref see's it all (as i say, very little difference to plenty of footballers, incl Ronaldo), but i feel sorry for him, it was a stupid thing to do, done in the heat of the moment, all out of the insistance that Utd dont copy Chelsea's attitude of 'go fetch this' for a sporting gesture.

I dont think Chelsea did enough to claim they were the best team, they had good spells and times when they looked disinterested, they had some luck in the equaliser, and 2 shots unfortunate to hit the post. I also dont think United can claim they were the better team, similar story, different halves. A well worked goal and 3 clear chances to put the ball away, shot straight at a Chelsea player.

I'd have taken the result over the performance, as anyone would, but it was nice to actually see a fairly decent game of football between the 2 sides (or any other game incl Chelsea) because they have a tendancy to drain them of entertainment and bore out games. Thankfully there was very little of that.

I have no care in the world for Chelsea, before RA they were fine when they were winning the odd FA Cup etc, since he turned up id quite happily see them lose, they cant really finance what they're doing, and i dont like that aspect (incidentally, i'd have been reasonably happy for Arsenal to win the league, they play football how it should be played... most of the time), but its a sh!t way to lose out in such a big occasion, nobody deserves that, and even though he can be a cnut at times, it was hard on JT, i wonder if he'll be hounded and blamed like Beckham was for his identical penalty slip which saw England go out

I havent had a solid sleep pattern for at least 5 years, dont have a fixed job so do as i please really, if it wasnt for going to ze football (CHAMPIONS!! AGAIN!) i'd probably be living on 28hr days, like 20hrs awake, 8hrs sleep, but the footie always gets in the way especially when Sky insist on switching games to noon (we've had maybe 15 home 3pm Saturday KO's in the last 3-4 years, couple seasons back we had 2 in 1 year! f*ck tradition for uncle ruppert).

I just suck myself into doing something even when I know I dont really have time for it and should be doing something im being paid to do, and I wonder why im always skint (even 'skint' seriously doesnt do it justice!). Ickle duckiepoos' is worth it though

Just for you duckiepoos...

Not 1, but 2 helmets, based on that design, but tweaked a little bit and some creative license added in there. I didnt like the green & yellow with the red & blues, it felt a little too much with so many vivid colours, so i went with just red and blues and then incorporated a little more aussie flag into the design (colours & stars), and then just as i was finished, and hitting the SIX hour mark, i decided i'd tweak it a little more and did an Aussie themed helmet to match the Aussie style Mercury FOX skin, swapping the reds for yellow & green which i'd earlier removed.

So, from 00:23, to 07:13 , without any break... not exactly quick work i know, and probably should have been spent doing various other things (not least sleeping!) but its still worth every sec for you mr duckiepoos
Now if only i could make a decent looking helmet for myself hmm.... nicked

oh, i also have an alternative top section, with the line/mesh similar to the original design, and i can still tinker with the colours so they're like the original design if need be.

Im pretty sure that anyone wanting to take part in the whole project still can, but they should go through the appropriate channels, and if they do want more people then they'll be accepted, if they dont want more testers then they wont appreciate unapproved and unknown people signing up.

Maybe they're fine with everyone knowing, but without knowing their feelings on it id say its best not to post this info, its one thing to acknowledge the arrival of something to do, but posting info sent to specific people should be avoided IMO (and also going off previous private beta groups, whether this specific task is public or private i dont know).

Better safe than sorry, dont want to get kicked out for something silly, could be some very exciting things ahead

well what a joke of a race that was!
Whats the point of sending out a pace car who:
1) Falls asleep
2) Slows everyone down then parks up midway round the track
3) Slows everyone down again, then drives straight off the track at T1
4) Slows everyone down again, then tells the person who's crashed to shift+s and then drives into the pits with the hazard lights still flashing?

Absolute joke, completely ruined 90min of race, on top of the 1hr spent messing about because of the disorganisation beforehand. We highlight theres only 21 people and were in 2 servers, who cares. Then with 2min left of qual its 'oh, lets all go into the same server'.

80min of decent racing ruined because you insist on having these stupid rules which dont do anything but ruin peoples races. No organisation, no sense.

Hey Reinier,

Dunno if you ever did pop into our server while we were on there as suggested, thats about the only way anyone is likely to be able to judge someone unless they're reputation kinda speaks for itself etc.

I dont think theres any harm in initially requesting only contact from decent & established teams, theres far too many 4 week teams in LFS, here today gone tomorrow. The established teams have a proven track record, and if your a capable driver used to driving in the big events like MoE then joining a new team with no history or reputation means you've got very little chance of getting invited into MoE. In about 3 weeks time we (Mercury) willl have been in LFS for 4 years, these days its an acheivement lasting the first year and i can fully understand people wanting to move to a team which is settled, thats not to say a new team cant make it, its just got the hardest part ahead of it, rather than behind it thats all.

Good luck finding someone that meets your level dedication Koopa, im pretty sure you'll find plenty who are willing to take a look at you, dunno if Jonesy ever got round to that or not, but im sure you'll be settled in somewhere in no time.

how can anyone answer that until all the teams have applied and numbers have been assigned? If only 10 of the 12 ahead of you turn up, you'd be 11th, so being 13th makes little difference right now, should they all turn up you'd be 14th, but im pretty sure everyone can wait the 5 months for it to be confirmed, not exactly a rush is there

Any chance of some confirmed results, rather than everything being premilinary, even the site has nothing since Q2. I've been waiting for it to be made official before posting anything on our site, but gave up last night seeing as it'd been 10 days and even BL6hr is still preliminary.

Thanks for all the comments guys, its been a long season which started mid-August for us, doing some stints in XRR and FZR to decide which we prefered (i was convinced everyone would switch from FZR to XRR for this season tbh!).
Thanks and congrats to everyone who took part throughout the season, finishers and non-finishers, hopefully everyone will be back in full force for next season, and thanks again to the organisers.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :As for CoRe's plans for next season... I believe the guys want to go GT1 racing, so you can probably expect to see us there. We'd love to run both classes, and depending on manpower we just might try it.

See you guys in the fall.

Its not easy getting 2 teams out, it was a decision we took a while to come to, because its one thing having 6 people (2 teams of 3) for most races, its the 12hr and 24hr race which is a real ball-buster. You go from 6 drivers being enough, to really needing 9-12 drivers and i dont think there are many teams who have enough active teammates, let alone having with the ability to jump into both the cars for the biggest race of the season.
We had to borrow 2 drivers for the GT1 car (tried moving people over, but they were too stuck in the comfort zone of the GT2) of which PLehto did a 1hr stint around midnight.
I certainly hope you'll still be around in GT2 class, hopefully we'll give you a proper run for your money in the championship, though im not sure even 5 months is enough time to teach us not to make stupid pit-related mistakes

All im saying, is that isnt it possible its the same things, as its happened once before, no need to be insulting. Seems its okay for the organisers to purposely insult people round here and get away scott free.

Just another case of the 'Us vs Them' mentality i guess. One rule for some, another for others.

Apparently its no longer even required to even have the car number in your name, or your real name, someone drove round for a while with their LFS Name.

The fact is, it didn't get put together as quickly as we would have liked, but we feel that 3 days (or even 2, Paul) is plenty of time to get a skin updated if not doing so means being penalized. Anyone can use MS Paint if it comes down to that, there's not really any excuse for getting a DT over this.

Perhaps the announcement could have also been made in the OP of this thread. That's one point of constructive criticism.

Unfortunately that one bit of constructive criticism was buried under an avalanche of insinuations, personal attacks, and gratuitous reminders of our past failings (and past failings unrelated to us). A simple suggestion rather than a page-long rant would have gone a long way toward avoiding yet another messy argument between Paul/3J and the admins. We're trying to be big boys about this but it's difficult when we keep getting dragged down into the mud.

edit: I'll be very surprised if anyone does get a DT over this.

Yeah, and who's fault is that?
Of course its me & 3J, we've only been saying the same thing since post #2 and #5(ish) which you've now agree'd with. How dare we muddy this thread, people could have read the suggestion, but others ruined it and argued about it, made false insinuations ('If it comes down to getting a penalty or slightly marring the aesthetics of your skin, c'mon'), and made personal attacks ('go tell mummy') ... Instead of being arguementative, and assuming everything 'they' say is negative and wrong, maybe try to understand what's being suggested?

Oh, and stick 'Fun' in there as false insinuation #3 for DWB
Whatever happened to this rule where people would receive DT's for their actions on this forum?? THREE times my comments have been taken out of context, knowing full well they were, purely to score points. Very grown up, and another good example being set from an organiser.

The more organiser replies the more 'Us vs Them' it gets, this is pathetic, the fact that people racing in the series agree things could have been done far better, should tell you something. The fact that now your changing your stance on 'WILL' get a penalty says maybe its a little too harsh.

Unless you guys seriously think people will refuse to put the new logos on their cars, What good does giving people a DT do?
What is the most likely reason a team would have for not following the instructions? Not seeing them, of which little attempt was made to ensure they would, or at least far better could have been done.

Giving a DT doesnt help put skins on logos, what does is trying to make sure everyone knows because people are more than happy to comply. Instead all this silly decision does is ruin peoples races because they missed an last minute announcement.

We can understand things took longer than hoped to get things available, but i think you should understand that some people wont see warnings made 2 days before the race, when most people are practicing, when very little effort is made to highlighting the importance you hold in having these things on our cars. You guys want this, so unless you'd prefer to give out DTs, wouldnt it make more sense to do whatever you can to ensure people know. If they still ignore you, then i cant argue with those actions, but with so little effort made I feel people could miss this announcement.
I'll put money on the fact that they wont with all this bitching going on though

Also, if you needed further proof at just how ****ed up this incident is, you need look no further than the fact that 3J and myself actually agree on this! Even Nostradamus didnt predict this would ever happen!

Quote from AppiePils :@3J The fact that you have arranged it in time, proofs that there was time enough (There is even ~2 days left).
Surely that then kinda implies that teams who dont put the logo on their cars are doing so because they refuse or something, rather than because they didnt see the warning/request. Im sure plenty will read this, but does anyone really see the benefit of ever threatening people with a DT because most likely reason is not seeing the notice. If you'd made better efforts, i could understand it, but honestly considering this is the drivers briefing, and it hints at the rule, it'd be far better to get what YOU guys want, and just make sure everyone who see's this thread gets the message too. 'Spam' people with the warning, remind then before and during Q2, do what you can to get the message out because thats what you want, not peoples races ruined. I just dont see what giving a DT to anyone really does as an incentive for something people are more than happy to comply with anyway given proper notice.

If i actually had a life outside of Mercury (tis true, i dont :razz then maybe i wouldnt see this notice, hopefully someone with each team will see it and pass the warning on, but most peoples spare time now will be put to practicing rather than checking last minute rule ammendments.

I'm not saying that things in the past were done that great and timely, but slowly we try to improve, but of course you can choose to not see that part.

And your comment about a joke: same can be said about the whining of some people over the forums, would you care putting a lot of time in a league for such kind of people? Apparently we still care a lot to put such amounts of time in the league regardless of all the crap we get to endure. As said before, we understand and agree that we need to improve in certain areas, but it requires some time, especially since the admin team has changed during the season.

Constructive feedback, yes please, whining: please go to your mommy.
I dont find that fair either, and you and i both know anyone giving you the same suggestion wouldnt be treated kindly either! I've lost a lot of interest in this league, silly little things have spoiled it for me. The biggest culpret being the crappy patch, nothing to do with the series, but its ruined it for me because its not the same cars & playing field it started as and we all agreed to. I certainly appreciate the work thats done by the admins, but theres a hell of a lot of things which IMO really arent done as they could/should (you've probably noticed that by now )

@Paul
I see we're basically talking about the same. I can understand your issue with the DT given the time frame, however it is an extra push to have it done. We're willing to listen to teams who cannot make or update the skins in time, provided they come up with good arguments.
There isnt a single thing i'll say which isnt *IMO* in the best interest of the series, and im certain the same can be said for others too, but sometimes it seems like you guys take on an 'us vs them' mentality, and i certainly hope you guys will reconsider the DT penalties, i cannot see why anyone would intentionally chose not to re-skin their car, we all love having the correct logos and put a lot of effort into our skins, and IMO the only reason someone wouldnt put them on is because they didnt realise.

Quote from AppiePils :Whether its a can or will, the outcome is the same. I described the goal earlier: 'However, at this point in time we have new graphics and we want to enforce the use of these graphics, so the we end the old era of graphics and enter the new one.'
Now you can discuss whether is a can or a will, the rule still stands.

About the rushed in and no efforts to inform people: Rushed is quite out of context as described (even by you) how long we've work on it. The (lack of) informing people: we have these forums, the website - it is not (only) our responsibility to remain updated with the latest information.
Besides ~3 days ahead is still enough time to get the new skins done, as you and 3J already provided proof of that.

We've made some internal changes which should lead to a timely start and timely prepared tracker.

Can or will makes a difference, when last week it was 'can' (aka wont) and this week its 'can' (aka bet your life we will). The rules imply possibility, a possibility you've been happy to let slide for 6 months, now its not a possibility, its a nailed on certainty.
There was very little attempt made to warn people, and thats why i was complaining about it to begin with, it was more about getting people to visit the MoE site, a site historicly of little use compared to this forum, somewhere you were chosing not to make this new rule public.
True, its our duty to look out for these warning, and thats why im kicking up a fuss, because theres very little effort being made to warn people of this. If i wanted i could quite easily ignore this and watch others trip up because no real announcement was made with such short notice, however i'd rather we have a proper race, not a mickey mouse one, end the series properly instead of re-creating the US GP from 2005 (coincidence seeing as were at an oval based track :razz because nobody wants an uneven playing field, and allowing people to miss an important announcement would create that, which isnt in this series best interests, surely you can see that??

What we're complaining about is the lack of warning, and utter contempt for the people your planning on penalising.
Im fairly sure that everyone taking part in MoE is more than happy to put the latest logos on, afterall there are plenty of posts before each race asking if theres a event logo for it, however rather than just asking people to switch logos, they're threatened with a DT penalty.

Unless you think people dont want to use the logos, exactly how does issuing a DT penalty help your causes? It doesnt magicly get logos on skins, it just pissed people off, especially if they didnt see a warning which was hardly informative! IMO your going completely the wrong way about things, instead treating people with contempt rather than asking them nicely. Given *2* (stop the ~3 BS please) days warning, for something you've been working on for over 30 days, known about for around 45-60 days, to be so bold as to chose to start punishing others for failing to see an extremely poor warning for the organisers, when you've made little attempt to warn them yourself, for such a petty little thing.
Surely you dont want to ruin the final race of the season for teams because they missed an poorly made announcement, and as ive said our skins were done on Sunday with the logos, I have nothing to worry about for our sake, but in the interest of keeping things sporting, i feel teams are being poorly treated.
As i say, people will put skins on cars if they know, make a decent effort to warn people and im sure it'll get done, particularly if you give reasonable time for everyone to see the announcement and act upon it, but threatening non-compliance with penalties because you've left things late... thats just not fair! All were asking for is a reasonable bit of warning, YOU want the logos on the car, thats what this is all about, so help us help you.

What really, is in the best interest of this series? Having some cars 30+ sec behind from the green flag due to not seeing the new/changed rule, or having a fair race and a fitting end to the season with the exact same % of cars missing the logo?? This implementation doesnt increase your chances of people using the logo, it just ruins races for those who dont see a poorly made last minute announcement. Its a race series at the end of the day, the less done to ruin that the better.
