Quote from kamkorPL :I think it's the other way. If blue-flagged driver is so slow that he is lapped, he will maybe try to prove himself to the driver that is lapping him? "Oh I'm slower by 1 lap, but I'm much faster, oh oh go away!" :ices_rofl

QFT! lol

I know its an old post / thread, blue flag spammers simply dont understand the flag rule but hey we can be smug when we see someone do it.

I really cant wait till the one update, if ever, that makes wheels come off completely. This is the one that I think will make the game so much different.

I love south city as a track the racing line is there! You get people who DEFEND their line, knowing that outside is harder to pass. You get race craft there, close racing, gnarly hills and chicanes, tight turns with lots and lots of great overtaking points, slipstreaming straights and cars sliding out on entry and exits of corners. Definately makes for some of the best action.

lol the first time I got 2 red broken suspension parts and could still drive a whole lap I realised not to trust that screen much.

I notice this all the time. I definately feel the changes in Force feedback and while cornering at fast pace but F9 view has no damage showing on it at all. Always assumed I had bend the whole chassis and pushed the axle backwards shortening the XFR's wheelbase.

It's not the chicanes that are the problem, they are just chicanes, you get big ones, small ones, slow ones fast ones, all sorts, they are specific features of the tracks. try looking at the damage model aero model and surface grip or the curbs or the other million suggested improvements like dirt or rubber on the track that are the inaccuracies of a racing sim. how about the dirt on the tyre model is this 100% acurate? or the marbles the wear and tear on the car the countless other reasons why drivers in real life have to slow and we dont. thats all it is. this doesnt mean we cant replicate them as best we can for now and hope as upgrades go on the need to take care will increase.

lol this is a classic.

its like an RPG game or something where someone says, I am quitting the game, and everyone turns round and says, can I have your stuff?

don't get wound up by cheats, just carry on as normal since the guy will soon get bored of LFS with no challenge there, they only cheat themselves. if you get beaten by a cheat then take it as a compliment, he had to cheat. this is worth tonnes more glory than even winning the race. same goes for cutters, wall hacks and aimbot!!!!1111oneeleven.

just enjoy lfs your way and dont let the cheater win by making you quit lol.

Quote from mrodgers :Nope, because I know him and he's posted in other topics of this interest as well. I do know he is speaking of the flatout driving straight through the LFS chicanes....

Tell me one chicane in LFS that you DON'T go flat out through (except SO Classic). In every chicane, the slowing and braking is due to a corner right at the chicane entrance (exit in reverse) rather than the chicane itself. FE Green on the main straight (and I'll add coming off the oval at KY GP since I don't curb hop) is the only ones I can think of that you actually brake for the chicane, rather than for a corner right before the chicane. LFS chicanes are nothing more than acceleration zones after navigating the corner. Take the chicanes away and it changes nothing with the speed of that section because the slowing is caused by the corners, not the chicanes. Note my examples in the post above. Remove each of those chicanes and does anything change? Nope.

So the topic called "Remove all chicanes" is not about removing all chicanes. Okay, what planet are you on? The guy is complaining about chicanes not making him slow enough yet at the same time he wants to go fast because the game is called Live for speed.

Where in the definition of chicane, does it say it can't be after a corner or before a corner (since it's in reverse). Where in the definition of chicane does it say must make you go slower than a 90 degree corner, which is also pretty fast in LFS, hence the "so you want to remove all corners too" comments.

Since you named a lot of the chicanes already, try AS cadet, AS club FE club or any of the chicanes without lifting off, braking or adjusting your line to get through it, do this in the FZR.

Oh right you just realised that slower cars are going flat out but the faster cars cant. Nice one!

Why do you think people cut, why do you think there is barriers there, because people are driving OFF the track to get better times.

Your problem is not with the chicanes.

Quote from mrodgers :It seems you all are missing what Cargo is eluding to. Very few of the chicanes in LFS are driven slow and cause you to slow. Nearly every one of them are taken flat out.

Aston (National to simplify the location) coming onto the front straight. Taken flat out. The only reason to slow is because you have a turn-in initially into the chicane. You turn in, then drive flat out through the chicane. Most people jump the curb and do not take it on the track at all.

Westhill, again, you slow slightly for the turn-in, then flat out through the chicane.

FE Club and Gold first chicane, taken flat out.

FE Green, first chicane I like. You actually brake for the chicane, not for a turn then take it flat out. Second chicane, no braking whatsoever, taken flat out. Third chicane coming onto the front stretch, again, no braking and taken flat out even though you do have to turn-in to that chicane.

Blackwood, taken flat out. The only reason it is slow is because of T1, you don't have time to get the speed up.

Kyoto GP, I personally brake coming off the oval and through the chicane. Most people just pumble over the curbs there flat out.

I'm sure I missed some.

So, Cargo's question still stands: "Chicanes -- what are they good for?" Very very few of them you slow down for.

Why are so many of the chicanes mostly after a slow section in LFS? Blackwood, FE Club/Gold, all but the first at FE Green... None of them have any speed coming into the chicane that you have to slow down for it.

In my eyes, that "action" has nothing to do with the chicane. Would have happened without the chicane. That was 2 wheel action from hitting the curb on the turn heading into the chicane. Notice that both of the cars represented in that vid did not slow in the chicane, which is the reason to have a chicane. Both cars took the chicane accelerating flat out.

The guy is quite clearly eluding to remove all chicanes, maybe you should re-read it?

LFS has many different types of chicanes, slow and fast. All require a line and steering to get through, braking before a chicane means the chicane is doing its job.

Also try those chicanes flat out IN REVERSE CONFIG?

Quote from Cargo :Before I make an Improvement Suggestion I thought I'd drag by the General mob.

Chicanes -- what are they good for?

Most real life tracks install or build-in chicanes in order to slow the cars down for safety.
We are virtual, there is zero safety to worry about. We should be going hella fast (and usually are).

There are several chicanes that are simple "cut here" markers. And servers have taken as many steps as possible to put in bumpers to stave people off from them. Is this is so, Remove the Chicane.

In general, if any Track is being reviewed for udpates from the devs, they should first look at any chicanes on that track and do all possible to remove them.

This is Live For Speed after all.

(just a thought, not a whine)

:noob:

Chicanes are fine. Keep them.
