There's only one model DFP for the PS2/PC - it uses a standard USB connector, and the drivers are provieded on the Wingman team website.

I can't understand why its cheaper than the Momo either - perhaps as you say because its not actively marketed for the PC. Its understandable its more expensive than the Momo Red (ltd edition), but not the normal one.

2nd hand DFP's don't cost too much - try looking on your local equivlant of Ebay. The price on them has come down a bit since the G25 came out.

You can get a bargain in PC World..once in a blue moon. I got my base system from there - Athlon64 3400/MSI board/120GB HD/1GB DDR/DVD+/-RW & XP home, for £190. Yes £190 new - boxed, everything but the screen with warranty etc. The CPU is an OEM Venice based one so clocks nicely upto ~A64 4000 speeds. That was last August.

Keep in mind though it'd been on sale for so little time the fellow was still putting other stock out with it

I uaw 100% main force in Windows (with damper/springs set to 0), and a varying amount in game.

Normally around 40% for low power FWD's, 20-25% for RWD's, and 40-50% for single seaters. Works good for me and provides a good amount of useful feedback without being over the top or overpowering.

I have LFS/Windows set to 720 degree rotation, LFS automatically adjusts for cars with less rotation.

Remeber you can use the < and > keys to adjust FF strength ingame.

Sweet, now I don't have to have Profiler running in the background to map the buttons to keys.

You don't trust them? Sounds more like your PC won't pass the genuine licence test for updates

Setting up AVG (anti virus), and Zone Alarm (free edition) will increase the security of your computer considerably. Having a copy of Ad-Aware around and doing a weekly scan will also help. I've not had a virus on my system in years but it doesn't hurt to keep a scanner in the background. More useful than keeping a download manager and Winzip systray in the background, thats for sure.

The shifter by design makes a clicking noise when you engage any gear, if it wasn't for this (or if you replace the steel balls with a nylon ones), the shifter doesn't make much noise at all.

A shifter boot on the AL unit would work well I think. Maybe you could make one to cover most of the base unit as well as the shaft/plate.

Hmm I can't be the only one using the full shifter/clutch for all racing can I? I use the paddles in the single seaters, but that's it. I feel too disconnected from the car when using them on the road-going cars now.

The reverse gear whine sounds pretty similar to my old Micra's gearbox. Its a nice touch.

I've not noticed much gear whine in the C4 I drive at the min either forward or reverse. Maybe because its an auto, or because its a lot newer.

Definately a big step up from the last patch sounds, and heading in the right direction. Actually a couple of the cars sound amazing for a synth sound engine.

My old CRT wasn't el cheapo, new it cost not a massive amount less than my Sony TFT did. Of course that was going back a few years.

I know the size difference doesn't make it a great comparison, but hey the man asked for opinions..my point was don't buy cheap LCD's, or you'll be let down compared to a standard CRT of the same spec.

I upgraded from a 17" CRT to a 19" TFT last summer, and definately don't regret it. The overall image quality is noticably better, and the colours are fine once you have the screen setup to your liking, and if necessary tweak the gamma a bit. The extra desk space and lower power consumption are nice too.

Don't cheap out on a screen or get the lowest priced big one you can find. 19 inches is perfectly fine for a computer screen I reckon, best to get a quality one. I have a cheap 19" on my other machine, fair enough it was 1/2 the price of the one on this box but it shows - the colours aren't accurate, and it sucks for games - the response time is higher.

I use one of these on my main system, and recommend it to anyone. I must have fiddled with 20-30 screens in different shops looking for a good one till I came accross it. The colours are great, its brilliant for games, its tilt system is well designed. Not a single dead pixel either, my cheap one has 1 dead pixel and 2 dead sub-pixels.

Black scews can be removed without any visible sign..if you use a good quality driver that fits nicely, and take your time.

There's a bolt that runs the width of the pedal assembly, that holds it all together at the front, its a shoulder one that rides on bushings. That was loose on my throttle pedal, allowing a bit of side to side play. Giving it a quick turn fixed it up nicely. The other two pedals were already sufficently tight so I didn't touch them.

Logitech's standard policy on warranty stuff seems to be you have to send the connector plugs off the faulty unit to them when the new unit arrives. Works well, they know your not pulling a fast one to resell the new one, and you save the cost of sending the whole 10KG unit back.

Brilliant work, thanks to the whole LFS team and especially to Scawen for the hard work put in as of late. The new improvements definitely enhance the experience.

Now go crack open that champagne, have a great Christmas and a happy new year

XFR here, simply because a lot of the closest racing I've had was with it. Such an easy car to drive fast, but hard to nail each corner perfectly for lap after lap. Its got a nice responsive feel to it too that a lot of the cars don't have.

So all you fellas voting for LX4/6, why do I never see any LX/FE combo public servers populated? :P LX4 is my 2nd fav, its a blast to drive, but sadly its hard to find many serious races with it.

Email tech support, your issue will be resolved a lot quicker than moaning about it on a forum I had the same problem yesterday after reinstalling Windows/test patch updates.
Has switching to clutch/H shifter made you slower?
Rtsbasic
S3 licensed
Now clutch/H shifter usage is more widespread thanks to the G25, thought it'd be interesting to see if its slowing people down adjusting to it and coping with the lack of real gearbox simulation, or if its sped them up - by use of faster shifts and being able to skip gears downshifting, etc.

Personally its made a massive improvement to my driving. The immersion is much greater, and I feel more "in tune" with the car, so I'm faster and a bit easier on the tyres. Took ~4 months to start seeing an improvement in my laptimes though.

Give Logitech a ring and explain its faulty, they should sort you out. Its not worth voiding the warranty on an expensive product when a phonecall will fix it. I've only had good experiences with them (well, aside from this one guy who couldn't speak 3 words of english..).

Of course, if you do want to open them, as long as your careful not to mess the screws up there's no visible sign of it. I had mine open to tighten a loose pivot bolt.

The newest sounds - from this thread, are the best yet. Loving in particular the RB4, FZ5 & LX4/6. Two weeks ago I wouldn't have thought LFS's synth engine could produce results like these.

Anyone that gave you a key would potentially open their paid for account up to abuse, and I'm sure it violates the NDA in some way. To make full use of the game you have to give it your Gamespy/Fileplanet account details anyway not just the key.

Predictably it was on Blackwood, and oddly with the FXO. Can't remeber exactly why but I thought it looked way cool back then. I think i was scared by the RWD's Then went mad on the MRT for days. Now I can't even remeber the last time I raced it.

Did manage to win my 2nd race though

The newest patch sounds are very promising..based on the demo cars anyway, out of unlocks But based on them, I think the CSR mod might have a lot less users shortly.

Yes its the PC release of the 360 game in beta testing.

The min requirements are rather steep at the min, my A64 3400/7600GT/1GB struggles at times, but its expected for a work in progress.

The cars react fairly realistic in the game, not to LFS level but quite a few notches above NFS. Has better support for the G25 than LFS

On the off topic of Enthusia, definately the most underrated PS2 game ever. The racing is much closer to the likes of LFS than it is GT4, you can drift in it, and it feels natural like LFS does, obviously not the case in GT4. Pfft. FF ain't half bad either. Has the 'ring as well, although GT4's version is much better.

Shame everything else about Enthusia was rubbish, from the menus, the music to the silly scoring system. Never could make sense of the intro vid either

If you don't want to spend the dosh on a G25, the DFP is the next best thing. Still a nice peice of kit.
