BT do active speed throttling on P2P networks for many users, but not FTP as far as I know. Just love how any torrent downloads drop to 30Kb/s in the evening..

Only car mods for the rF version I've found worthwhile, was the BMW M3 (except for the poor sounds and the tendency to oversteer while changing down gear), and the VW Lupo one is pretty good, bit low powered but I've yet to come accross any other nice cars in rF.

GT4 by far has the best 'ring IMO. Not exactly top notch physics, but its a blast to drive. IIRC it was mapped using GPS data.

The closest I've seen for PC is the "All Roads" version for rF. Its pretty good, but looks a bit wide in areas compared to onboard videos. Still a work in progress as well but its more than drivable.

Enthusia has the ring & pretty good driving physics - the best of any console game IMO, but its version of the track feels a bit flatter, and the graphics are more dull than GT4's. If you have a PS2 its only a fiver though.

Looking forward to trying out nordschleife in Forza in a couple of days, any other Xbox games have this track?

I'd love to know how to hook an original Xbox up to a computer screen for less than £30, without sacraficing major picture quality.

www.dabs.com do well spec'd cheap 19" TFT's, but don't expect the same picture quality you get with a more expensive screen.

If your having trouble with missed shifts because your not putting the clutch 100% in, might be worth having a play with Dxtweak:

http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/gadgets.htm

LFS's clutch simulation is pretty poor at the min, but you can use dxtweak to create deadspots at the beginning and end of the travel, so it feels more like a real clutch.

It will mess it up for other games that have better clutch support though, as the settings are saved.

They're limited edition, but they've not specified how long they'll continue production of it, or how many numbers they plan to manufacture. Its a safe bet you'll be able to pick it up for quite a while yet though, no doubt they're making a tidy sum from them.

The G25 will spin itself about twice the speed of a DFP. I normally used my DFP on 540 rotation, and the speed never presented too much of a problem, bear in mind the DFP was the most commonly recommended wheel for LFS.

The wheel isn't that big - about an inch smaller than the G25 maybe.

Nice work guys, I think the image is small enough to be acceptable in a sig

Its well worth the dosh IMO. Of course its not perfect and can be improved in a lot of area's, but its by far the best "mainstream" wheel ever released. Having PS2/maybe PS3 compatibility is a nice addition a lot of people forget as well. Enthusia + G25 = fun downhill drifting

Like the man says, they look good, but not on that car. Could look very good on the RB4 though

Exercise? Like, leaving the house and stuff?

I really need to, I'm badly overweight (22 stone), motivation is the problem - I used to bike 12 miles for college every day and lift weights occationally which worked out good but I only work round the corner now so haven't bothered

Shifter stays in place - its on a small table to my lower left anyway, the wheel gets moved & reclamped to the edge of the desk so its out the way, pedals stay put - I find myself playing with them while doing stuff, which is surely better than not moving my legs at all.

Like Bob says, with 720 degree rotation, 100% overall strength in Profiler, and 15-20% in LFS works good for me. I use the same settings for racing, just bump the ingame FF upto 25-55% depending on which car & which wheels are driven.

Does that mean I'd be cheating, because I've been driving with a clutch for a year already

I'd be interested in coming - depends on if I've moved back up to Milton Keynes or not by that date. A coach there from Plymouth shouldn't take too many hours I don't think.

True that, my old Radeon 9600 ran LFS just fine, although that was the last ATI card I'm buying.

Any Geforce 6xxx series card should run LFS quite acceptably. I have a 6600GT in my other system, that will run LFS with an 80FPS average.

The core/ram frequencies don't really mean much, there's so much variation between chip designs that you can't really use it for comparison.

Hard to say without specific sizes.. I vary between XL and XXXL. A slightly longer version (I'm 6ft5) would be nice too.

Quote from ajp71 :
A true sequential gearbox will be much faster than an H gate shift could ever be.

True enough, but how many road-going cars are fitted with a sequential gearbox? With the current gearbox model, you can drive the FXO like its an FZR with a sequential and ignoring the need to manually blip to avoid engine damage, thus if you use a gated shifter or even just lift for changes like IRL your at a disadvantage by a good couple of tenths down a long straight.

Quote from ajp71 :
That sounds like an automatic with a manual override which is always going to be a horrendously slow combination.

In automatic mode, it shifted like a manual - gearchanges took ages and the car was jerky like it had a learner behind the wheel. My daily driver is an auto C4, and using the sequential override in that is a lot faster/smoother. Definately wasn't a true auto box in the C2.
