I don't think all demo drivers are out for trouble...

One of our servers was almost full on the weekend, and every single one of them was a demo-licensed novice. After several hours of racing, there was only one person that needed a caution (and then a ban when they ignored me and continued trying to block the hairpin). There were no arguments, no rage-quits when incidents occurred, and everyone seemed to have a good level of respect for everyone else. Maybe FBM encourages a more serious class of driver?

Pro-tip: Oculus Rift's minimum machine specs are a load of garbage. Without any modification or specialist knowledge, you can get a DK2 running solidly on a NZ$900 machine.

I'm haven't yet experienced the black-screen problem or had any problems with heat, and I'm running the latest runtime too...

edit: There is a new runtime, but I'm a little bit apprehensive about installing it now - might just wait for the next update. As long as everything works without any problems, I don't see any real need to try to keep up with their constant twiddling...

Quote from Tomislav531 :Can you give some other ideas I seriously dont see any use of this same cars just caravans or sedans or coupe, its the same car post something new! New car v8, v12 seriuously people are you blind !?!?!?!?

You need to slow down and re-read what you type before posting - you could be making a very good point, but no-one will ever know because they can't understand what you wrote...

As has been said many times - this list is just wishful thinking. The chances of anything in this list making it into the game are miniscule. The chances of influencing the decisions of the devs are slim-to-none. The chances of anyone on this forum doing anything differently because of one unintelligible rant are pretty much zero.

I'm guessing you don't mean the feel, appearance, or consistency of the surface...

In which case I have to assume you're talking about the car meshes. It's called 'vob modding', and it's forbidden to discuss that subject at all on this forum.

The devs stated long ago that they would not support customisation of the in-game meshes in any way, for several reasons which I won't go into here. There are people who have gone ahead and done it anyway, and they have their own websites and forums for the purposes of discussion and support.

A word of warning - if you do go down this path, you will not be able to come here and post screenshots or videos from your game or discuss mods in any way, shape or form. Any attempt to do so will be met with a permanent ban from this forum.

A further word of warning - all of the vob mods that I've seen around are drift cars.

Did you install LFS on the root of the drive, or in Program Files? LFS always seems to work better if you install it in C:\Games\ or something similar, rather than the PF folder.

hmmmm ... Looks like the cop ran a background check on you and found you were only demo licensed.

Brazilian Cruise is an S2 server.

Did you look in the Car Skins section of the forum?

If anyone thinks that LFS's track development is too slow, keep in mind that iRacing has been working on a laser-scanned Long Beach circuit since 2008, and it's still not properly finished.

Okay, so I went and downloaded it because, well, it's free, so no great loss if it's a complete disaster...

Imagine my surprise when I find myself still playing it a week later, and enjoying it! I did start by trying to get my steering wheel configured - the input lag is some of the worst I've seen in any game - so that was a bit frustrating, but then I gave up and started using a xbox controller - much better!

I'm not far off the level cap now, so not sure how much longer it'll hold my attention after that, as the multiplayer game isn't very well implemented (I spent about 15 minutes in a lobby waiting for a race to start - people came and went, but nothing happened - in the end I had to crash-reset my computer because once you're in the lobby, there's no way back out of it - none that I could find, anyway).

The cars are quite hard to get, ie, expensive, and the game is constantly trying to get you to upgrade to the Wild Run expansion, and it's full of microtransactions - but if you can see past these, you have a fairly decent free game that will keep you interested for quite a few hours.

On the subject of size, I did a faction race the other night that started in Miami and went up the coast and through New York (which we figured out was about 35-40 kms real-world), then Chicago, then across the Rockies in a very roundabout path to Nevada, up to Seattle and down the west coast to finish in LA. All up it took a little under 2 hours (very roughly). Finished 2nd which didn't feel too bad as the AI cars far outclassed my vehicle. It was a dirt-spec race too, so not the fastest cars to begin with...

Sorted out the problem with the cops - just ignore them. Big grin

It looks a little bit like hobo-sign - the first means 'talk religion, get food', the second looks similar to 'cops inactive', but the last one has no similarities to any hobo-sign that I've found, in fact it looks more like a Masons logo. Illuminati confirmed!

You should probably read the forum rules before posting.

I would recommend that be the first thing you do after you've created a new account...

Updated, upgraded and back on track with zero complications.

The new mirrors look amazing in VR, especially when your helmet wanders into view! Having been using the virtual mirror for some time, it took a little while to get used to using side-mirrors again, but it's way easier now that you can change the angle just by moving your head slightly...

Awesome work, Scawen, on what i can only assume was a real mind-bender of a task Thumbs up
HUD configuration for VR
Shirtkicker
S3 licensed
I currently have my HUD set up so that it's about 1.5 metres from my viewpoint, so that I can lean into my desk without it clipping and disappearing, but that does make some of the smaller text a bit hard to read - I was thinking that not all of the components of the HUD need to be at the same depth and flat angle.

It might be useful to be able to pull some of the HUD info closer to the driver position and angle toward the driver to make it easier to read - things like the driver list, minimap, chat, split times, etc.

A simpler alternative could be to offer a curved HUD option, that you could wrap around yourself to bring the outer corners in toward the driving position a bit more. A height adjustment might be useful too.

Also, on a side-note: does anyone know if there's a way to get rid of the tinted strip along the top of the HUD? I realise it's there to make things easier to see, but it kills the immersion a bit...
