I know that the more advance the engine has, the more difficult it becomes for the engine to turn over while cranking. Too much advance, and it can kick back on the starter, or cause it to get caught up and then turn, slow down, then crank some more etc...terrible way to describe it, but trying to be more descriptive than just saying the starter is laboring to turn the engine over more than usual.
If the engine is flooded, the best thing to do is to hold the throttle open and crank, avoid pumping the gas as that just makes it worse. (meh, read the end of your post before reading the bit where you said the same thing I just did here)
I also believe that less spark timing would be easier to start the engine, seeing as too much advance will bring it to almost pre-ignition time frame, and will make it hard to turn over.
I'd say go do some doughnuts and get it nice and hot and stall it and give it a go. Giving it more spark advance really does not seem logical, and possibly has something to do with being flooded. If you had your foot in the gas to clear the flood, then possibly it was advancing the throttle due to a throttle position sensor or something?
You don't drive the same way in game as you do irl, and the setups are really different
also, irl most cars nowadays are set up to understeer from the factory
The game can feel a bit drifty (not the ballet in cars type) through the turns in the slow cars, but its more like you're just floating it through. If you've not felt that in a real car, either you're not experienced enough to put the car right on the edge of oversteer, or you've never had the chance to. Also, have you even floored it in a car and started swerving? I haven't...I like to be nice to my cars, but I'd imagine you'd slide around a bit.
Even the grippiest of tires can slide if you are rough enough. If you're smooth and build up to the limit you'll go much faster than you'd be able to than if you jerk the wheel as hard as you can.
do you honestly think they want to change anything?
They have a brand, a name, and a game. If they get to the long awaited gt5 and no one can drive it because its so realistic, they'd be ruining themselves. They coined the phrase the real driving simulator. They did this in GT1! You think it was even close to being a sim back then? Not at all. Its MARKETING!
Also, most console racers use a controller. Controllers don't really suit real sim racing that well. If everyone was guaranteed to have a wheel, maybe they'd make some changes to be a bit more realistic, but right now I'd say maybe 5% use a wheel with console games.
Gran turismo is always going to feel like the gran turismo games in the past. They might change some things, add some damage or something...but people know gran turismo, want gran turismo, and expect gt5 to feel like gran turismo.
What they've done with gt5 is amazing. The graphics and sound are so realistic. Coupled with a pretty fun driving physics, they have another hit game. Honestly I can't wait to get my copy of GT:P. I keep watching the video of the formula one car, and I can't get my mind off of it. I likely won't get enough credits to buy it, but maybe it'll keep me playing. LFS has ruined any other racing game for me that tries to be a sim. Forza isn't fun, gran turismo isn't really that much fun anymore. I have more fun with need for speed esque games than the pretty good console sims.
What you get with LFS is a good community, a solid online environment, and good clean racing (most of the time). Leagues in lfs go beyond what the consoles could hope for.
The front car does get a substantial gain in speed from a car in behind drafting, but not as much as the back car. This is why drivers will pair up and drive away from the field, the back car is "pushing" them without necessarily touching them. Then you get into bump drafting and you get goin quite fast if you don't crash :P
also, this says its about stock cars, but it applies in this way to pretty much everything.
I believe its saying using the area under the curve method, the estimated RPM droop will be higher, meaning it'll suggest you shift at a higher RPM.
When you shift gears ideally you want the RPM to fall on torque peak correct? I know thats how you set up a car for maximum acceleration using an automatic transmission, because when it falls on torque peak you're getting the most torque multiplication from the torque converter...obviously not the case with a manual transmission, although I'd assume you'd want the RPM to fall on torque peak with both for the best acceleration.
I threw all your data in the site only to find that the "compute" link is broken and I'm going to a blank page...balls
the worst my visor has seen is kart racing following the other karts before rolling starts packed together...the oil from the exhaust is terrible on visors
also, water on the track/rain
going off track doesn't do all that much...except maybe dust will stick if there is oil/water
once you go bouncing your head off the rollbar and smashing it to pieces (your head, not the steel bar) in your first collision you'll be pretty sorry that you put your "weight saving" roll bar that actually adds weight
crashes, accidents, laggy collision detection problems, etc all happen
They're a part of racing yes, but having to pay for fixing them afterwards, or even the notion of starting a race with less than 100% repaired car is ridiculous
No one ever makes enough money racing to support their car...so how about this
For any car that is able to be raced at the club level, you have to work a 9-5 job at the office to pay for towing, gas, parts, pit crew, tires, and repairs...if you get fired for being late or not showing up too many times..YOU'RE FIRED and your s2 license gets revoked until you get a new fake job
For the pro level cars like f1 and the gt classes, you have to whore yourself out to your sponsors doing ridiculous tv commercials so you can race the next weekend.
I disagree...it is far to old to have that amazing of editing done to it
I doubt anyone could pull that off without proper modern mixing software and recording tools. If it is, it deserves another award for sound compilation.
more than half the people on the road is either a dumbass
a dumb bitch
a dumb ****...or something of the sort
I'm just saying, I don't want some dumb ____ to start their car in gear and run into mine
And yes, you do have to learn how to operate a car...every single feature, either through someone telling you...or just watching someone else do it, or experimentation.
Americans are taught to drive in automatics...some places don't even really want you taking your driving test in a manual.
Driver's ed courses never once mentioned manual trans operation. This means it would rely on someone else teaching you not to be a dumbass and start while in gear...
