Limited data? After all that hype about weighing every individual component etc I thought these cars were going to be pretty close to perfect. I got the impression that they knew everything there was to know about each car. Still, it was a quality bit of marketing

you can't weigh a wing and know how much downforce it has :P

The manufacture refuses to give up their dirty little aerodynamics secrets, and they don't have access to a wind tunnel.

STOP COMPLAINING NO ONE CARES ANYMORE

other sims don't have a 20 million $ overhead before even starting to sell anything

I'll give my 1 piece of advice, uninstall and reinstall. Stop the service and restart it manually if reinstalling doesn't work.

If both of those don't work, stop complaining and forget about a refund...I highly doubt it'll happen.

Also, expect longer response time from support seeing as you picked the BUSIEST day ever to try to join.

I still need to buy 5 tracks to fill up the radical schedule...thats a bit of a bummer, especially for a limited run series. I'm probably not buying any more content until they release a new car as well...hope that is really before the end of the year like they tenatively said.

Sadly I guess I will be running the skippy some more. I'm a bit annoyed that the schedule is the same as last season...and its even more annoying that the first two tracks are infineon and vir again...same as the last two weeks lol.

Quote from Jertje :So, with the first full season (for many of us, at least) coming to an end, is everyone planning to continue? I probably won't race as much in the coming season, but as long as I can keep improving relatively easily I'll put effort into it.

Heck, I'm in for a year anyway, so I owe it to myself to keep racing

I'm in for a year as well

I'm going to keep racing, no doubt...but I want more cars for the road racing stuff.

I really dislike the mazda, and how it has to be driven to be fast.

I've done some laps with the latemodel on road courses and its probably the most fun I've had flogging a car around a track by myself.

I want a more powerful tin top to race with A proper race car like the DP or a v8 supercar...

I'm really interested to see how the DP drives. I don't really know how they behave irl, and there have been lots of debates about em on the forums. Should be interesting...and fast

Quote from AlienT. :I've got to say the Legends at Infineon is the best fun to drive that I've ever had in any Sim. Using the H-shifter and clutch it's bleedin great fun. I wish there was a series in the sim for forcing the use h-shifter and clutch. Unfortunately for me this method is at least a second or two a lap slower than using sequential with no clutch so I'm only using it when playing around.

Anyway I'm off to Knockhill today to watch the Scotish Legends in action for real....in the wet it should be interesting

The legend cars have sequential transmissions

Quote from Hyperactive :VIR grand east is plain awesome track! Even in the skippie it is just plain awesome. The hairy sections with blind downhill turn-ins and the the flatout zigzags are just pure awesomeness. I know it is the antidepressants kicking in but you can't say you don't like VIR. I just won't allow it

Anyways, after doing some more racing recently I've starting to like the system where races are 2 hours apart. There are always people to race with and that's something I'd guess is hard to achieve by other means.

Its quite nice driving 3-4 seconds off pace...I just don't like being that slow, and I don't feel like putting the time in to be my usual pace

I didn't want summit point to end I was good at summit point.

I got the 3.x -> 4.x bump last night in road racing

I can't stand VIR GE though..don't have the patience for it. Hoping I can get 4.99 and above at infineon next week so I can look like a pro

Quote from SamH :There are a couple of good reasons why you'll probably see a lot more ovals and not so many road courses appearing. Ovals are, without doubt, far easier and quicker to laser scan. You can probably get a point cloud into the computer in a day, since you'd typically only need to set up 3 or 4 points to scan from, with the high grandstands around, and high track visibility from those points. Compare that with a road course, which with the best will in the world will probably require tens of scans to create a complete point cloud. Secondly, the principle point of interest for the iRacing staff is a) American tracks, and b) Nascar. It is fair enough, really. The Milwaukee Mile is a track with absolutely tons of history.. and Nascar creates a lot of history within itself (like baseball does). General interest in this track, in iRacing's primarily US market, will be high, and that's reason enough to deliver this track to iRacing as a priority over more complex tracks like Spa or Monza. It's perfectly reasonable, though perhaps a bit disappointing for Europeans in the short-term. Long-term, I reckon there will be more tracks that are relevent to non-US markets.

there are also tons of awesome US road courses...they just need to get them done Until they start making money I don't think we'll see many tracks outside of the US.

I really want a new street car...something rear wheel drive with 400+ horsepower like the new trend is

I don't care if its japanese or german or american...just something to play with.

The skippy is so tedious I want something to just go out and blow off some steam it :P

A bit like the radical, just less extreme...more road car.

Quote from Gabkicks :I'm more into road racing, so I'd like to see some gt or touring cars. Sofar, Maybe they'll let us race the stock cars on road courses at least...

Those cars aren't made to do anything but turn left. They aren't like nascar cars, the chassis and suspension is offset and stuff.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHhhh

another horrid race

started 12th..finished 2nd

just horrid

10 incident points

I jumped into a race so I could be in the back and just cruise...

I jumped into a good field, pole was around my PB, 1:00.9. I had run a 1:01.low before in practice, figured I'd just run mid pack.

Turns out everyone decided to drive slow and unpredictably. Started out with getting brake checked on the 2nd lap going into the chicane...that really helped me out. I guess it didn't do any damage to my car, bent their rear wing a bit...

Probably didn't really do much damage, but they still pulled over and reset, then quit a couple laps later.

After that, I was quite frustrated to say the least...I then proceeded to have six...count them, six...off tracks. 4 of them I'll blame on myself cutting too much of that damn chicane on entry. The other 2 were due to me ALMOST CRASHING because of people slowing down mid corner.

The last 6 laps of the race I was fighting for position against 3 lapped cars. One of them finally gave way, but the other 2 I had to pass aggressively...While following them, being sure to keep about a 3 tenth buffer, I almost crashed a countless number of times.

I was so sideways the middle of the downhill with 3 laps to go I thought I was headed for the wall for sure. Its possibly the most sideways I've ever been in the car. I guess thats what happens when you lift and stab the brakes at 100 mph while turning through an already treacherous turn.

I'm at a loss. I get in the higher qualified fields, and they're too fast for me. I get in the fields where they run the same times I do, and they drive .5-1 second off what they qualify. I was in 2nd by lap 19 I'm not bashing anyone (except for the uncooperative lapped traffic) but I'm having trouble finding my place...I guess I need to get a bit more consistent and race with the big dogs.

Oh btw, what do I get for running the fast lap, and being the hard charger for the session? Another minuscule .03 SR...YESSSSSSS

Safety rating is really starting to piss me off

I raced in the skippy today, started 5th finished 4th. Great, right?

Well, I gained all of .03 SR. I had 2 offs, 1 spin because I hung a tire on exit...the open diff really loves that, and then a contact x4 because someone ran into me.

If my sr isn't above 3.0 at the end of the season will I get demoted or something? The highest I've been is like 2.5 something, at 2.44 right now...

I guess I'll just stop spending money on the sim since I won't ever be able to race anything faster than the skippy.

I'm just getting tired of it...I'm a clean, quicker than average driver and I'm going to be left behind because I either don't race enough, and when I do its not "good" enough

can anyone share with me how you're supposed to set up your g25 to actually be able to drive this stupid game?

I keep hoping that over time they'd make their game work with 900 degree rotation...but the steering is just so unrealistically slow its impossible to drive.

What rotation should I be shooting for?

Quote from Gabkicks :Yeah, thats how i think of it. I'll sometimes stress the front tires by turning in a bit extra so that they're stressed a bit more and i don't oversteer. I do the same thing in LFS and rfactor sometimes. Its usefull on sharp corners in the xrr.

its hard to understeer and oversteer at the same time

inducing understeer to keep from oversteering might not be a very good technique...but probably not an unrealistic one They're your tires, abuse them how you want

lol just qualified at a 49.8...and as I was watching my time in anticipation I drove straight into the wall after the finish line haha

still feel like I can go faster...happy with the speed though I guess, good enough to race.

Quote from Gabkicks :Spanks, what changes did you make to huttu's set?

22 psi front
23 psi rear
8 arb
60 brake bias.
I left the spring perch alone, I think at +5...I figured he had a reason for not slamming it to the ground like usual :P

It really goes over the curbs well due to the ride height. The big change was the tire pressure balance, and the brake bias. It was so loose on entry...so much that I could not drive like I normally would..I could adjust, but I'd be slower.

I've found that the skippy really responds well to turning in on the brakes (just a little bit) in the slow corners, and even carrying a bit of braking all the way to the apex. It keeps the car in check, and might allow for a little later braking/earlier throttle, opposed to the usual brake, lift, pitch it in and stomp it strategy.

The really rearward brake bias + trail braking = sliding uncontrollably. I think I pushed the bias too far forward though, because if I'm not careful I can induce really bad under steer when I trail brake...I'll probably move it to like 58%.

Next I'll probably experiment with lowering the car some more, as it increases the camber as well...work those tires

I'm not a setup guru, but with so few options on the skippy you can change one thing at a time and really feel how it responds...the mazda on the other hand is a bit more intimidating.

Nice lap Crommi! That'll help a lot.

I'm starting to like the skippy a bit more :P

about 20 laps practice, and down to 1:49.9 with a mod of huttu's set. Still super sloppy and loads of time left..I'll probably be down to like a second off pole like usual.

I really don't dig this layout though...the last corner and the extended hair pin are just way too freeform for me. Its just kinda like ok, you turn in here, and need to be pointed towards that turn on exit .

I'm getting 1 offs and black flags everywhere too...its so easy to cut and gain time (like everyone would do in real life...). If you don't want the dirt to be a part of the racing surface then put a tire stack or something.

Quote from spanks :iracing hurts my checkbook

just ordered one of these gizmos today...the guys on the forum absolutely love it.

http://leobodnar.com/products/DFPG25conn/

I've wanted a new pedal set for ages, but I'll never afford a $400+ pedal set...and this thing will up the resolution of the g25 pedals from 256 to 1000...so thats quite awesome.

People say they're gaining tons of consistency, later braking in the heavy braking zones, and some people are picking up good chunks of time...and no random loss of calibration anymore

WAHOOOO!!!!

I got it in the mail today

What a great little piece of silicon and plastic...

Threshold braking is now extremely wide, and I'm able to brake very late every lap without worrying at all. The pedal travel is now 100% linear, and every millimeter is used to pick up pedal position.

The throttle is also very easy to modulate. Coming out of the slow corners at VIR south can make you spin the tires very easy, but now you just roll in smooth and no problem.

Also, it rerouted the most troublesome chord from the back of the wheel to the back of my PC. No more getting my foot stuck in the chord

I suggest everyone gets one!

Just had a fun race in the skippy

No qualifying time for me because I kept missing it...

I started 14th and ended 5th. Had some good battles, and even ran a new PB :] 1:16.83 is the new number. Apparently the 3rd fastest time of the race.

Victor Rodriguez was out in front the whole race...3932 irating, 1400 higher than the next guy lol.

I guess I wrote off the skippy a bit too soon, it is a fun car. I do prefer the mazda for an open wheel experience though.

I could only go back to lap 16 for the replay :'(

I was so close on people's bumpers at the beginning I really wanted to watch some of it. I went from 14 to 9th on the first lap and I don't even remember how lol.

I'm actually liking the skippy at VIR. I tried VIR for the first time yesterday..awesome track.

I got down to 1:17.22 in the skippy...not the best but I'm real consistent. Did a TT for some practice and SR points...got a 1:17.45 or something.
