In terms of design, I think there are some interesting bits they've come up with.
The nose design on the Ferrari strikes me as being quite fluid. Of course, the car ends up looking like a retarded fish from Finding Nemo, I don't care though. Just the things they come up always appear as something to admire with aero technology --- not looks.
But anyone saying that these cars look ugly, how can they look beautiful to begin with? They are all a common shape, you can't do much else than come up with other little flips and curves, that's about it
I am not convinced that you'd see the sides of the car in LFS. It is said to be like two widescreen monitors, but even with 3 widescreen monitors in LFS you don't get a full 180 degree wraparound. So the only real gain would be slightly more peripheral gain on the side which only adds to the experience a little bit, and doesn't make you any faster or better of a racer.
To be honest, I think it is better suited to flight sims, since most of those have views which are very restrictive towards the front and it blocks much of your view that is important for flight. However, it being so slim and narrow of a view, I'd think that you'd want more vertical area to view your game.
To have a true effect of being 'surrounded' by the game you'd need to have a dome effect. For racing games I guess having mostly a horizontal viewing space is all that you need, but I honestly don't see the gain of having the view on the sides since most of the focus is directly in the middle when driving a car.
1) Why would anyone use a combined axis setup? What do they gain by using it, even before Patch-Y? Practically all consumer wheels have the option to split the axes.
2) Scawen has stated that even the roadcars have racecar attributes to them. But furthermore, to explore what capabilities the car really has, and to see if any potential issues the physics might have. At the moment, without such a wide array of settings, you would'nt be able to find the issues people have seen with say... full front arb in the fwd car, or locked differential for any of the cars. I think in the future, things will become limited, and patch by patch we have seen this with a few options being limited further. I of course would still like to see a completely stock set of roadcars with only minor available adjustments on them.
3) There is no brake fade, so don't bother saying they have upgraded brakes.
Don't bother mentioning that to JeffR, when he owns(owned?) a new Corvette Z06 which uses leaf springs .
Hey Chris (and other FZR drivers), can you test +30kg weight handicap on the FZR for me? Just do +30kg, I want to know what times are like with that actually.
Hey all. Bad weather here put my internet out for a day and a half... :banghead:
I am liking the results I am seeing, and the discussion on this. At the moment I can see the XRR being pretty consistent with 2:40 times and high 2:39s. If a good lap is done, I assume a low 2:39.xx Bawbag? But the FZR still does some faster times on average it seems.
However, what is the tire wear like? XRR can go what... 2-4 laps more than the FZR I assume? XRR stint = 28-30 laps? FZR stint = 23-25 laps? Did you have damage to repair at your stops, they seem longer than Darkone's.
Doesn't a slight increase in weight on the FZR seem logical?
They are not balanced at all... and not that close in times at all. We'd be stupid to leave everything the way it is right now
Chriskart's post should clarify the difference.
I still would like to have fast drivers at least hotlap the FZR with testing the different weight I posted above. Or else there is nothing to really test tomorrow.
Ok so I have reports of some of the GT1 balancing issues in Patch-Y, and it is quite obvious that the FZR is fast once again for overall pace.
What I'd like to propose right now is simply a very last minute test procedure some of you fast GT1 drivers can try. We need help with results using these values before the testrace, PLEASE!!!
Do 2 different kinds of tests with the FZR GT1 using 3 different weight ballast settings:
Hotlapwith R2's and try to get your fastest time with +20kg, then +40kg, and then +60kg. Find what weight handicap allows you to reach within this target time:
Racewith R3's (a half (or full) stint if possible) and try to get your fastest time with +20kg, then +40kg, and then +60kg. Find what weight handicap allows you to reach within this target time:
NOTE: This is purely to balance the XRR vs. FZR at the moment. If we brought the FXR in the mix, it makes things a lot harder to balance since that car is about 1 second slower in hotlapping and in a race. We will figure out the FXR balancing AFTER the testrace. These target time values are based on XRR test results of both hotlapping and race times, and have a big 1 second margin in between to allow for a variety in times due to the large track.
I don't like the fact that you constantly post in these skin threads even after you say that you'll stop spamming them. Useless posts. Lets see some skins, not chatter. Thank you!
Is it the underscore that causes this? It seems I only notice it mostly on usernames that have an underscore somewhere in the middle of the name. I'd much rather have it just display the name from start to finish with as many characters (8?) as it can display.
But how many sound systems need 3 light systems, a FF pad for your keyboard, and dual fans? lol. Buy speakers for sound enjoyment, not an entertainment disco.
It is just fancy stuff that techy consumers want to buy for "wow coooool!!!" factor, and further extend their bad debt. Would get pretty old fast in my opinion (the lights and the fans). Secondly I don't want a blue speaker set
$400 for a 2.1 set at only 160watts combined? Sad price, 80watt subwoofer is weak, and I'd much rather just buy a decent set of 5.1 speakers. Not to mention that these are USB, which is a big no-no for audio devices. If you're just in it for the fan, wait for something SPECIFICALLY just a fan from some company. I am sure it will pop up soon.
Logitech Z5500's (which I own) costed me $300 about 2 years ago, and they are probably even cheaper now. 500 watts combined 188 watt sub.
Sometimes I lag out of a server, and die Everyone wonders where I went, then suddenly I have Captain-Planet-like powers and come back online/alive.
There are other times when someone messages me on MSN while I am racing (WGooden), and I am like YO YO!!!! I can't focus on the road!!! My eyes go blank, and I start seeing all these weird icons and flashing windows.... and when I recover from this state of confusion and anger, I am in a wall with a crashed car .
