Nope, only when im spectating but when i join the track everything is back to normal again. Im not using any mods or addon textures and my graphics drivers are also up to date.
dont mistake bumpdrafting with drafting which could also include the so called "push-pull effect" but this is not yet part of the aerodynamic "engine" in lfs.
I just found this site (after a quick google search) which explains the effect roughly just in case you do not already know about it. I was not able to read though it completely yet but i think it looks quite interesting and i will have a look at it tomorrow.
"Drafting, which looks like tailgating or slipstreaming, occurs when a second car tucks closely behind the first, filling part of the vacuum. The car in front loses some of the drag at its rear. The second car still has a vacuum at its rear, but now has less air resistance in front. As a result, both cars quicken a bit — the two combined speed a few miles per hour faster than either can alone. This push-pull effect is stronger the closer the second car gets to the first. Indeed, the second may even touch and push the first in a tricky maneuver called "bump drafting." But slipstreaming so closely hinders airflow into the trailing car's radiator and can cause its engine to overheat. Most drafting calls for a half to a full car length between the two cars. (In contrast, open-wheel, motorcycle, and bicycle racers do not gain extra speed by drafting, because a trailing racer does not generate the forward aero push that stock cars do"
Due to the fact that bumpdrafting needs a lot of practice and even then its really dangerous and can spoil racing (racing in this case means drafting eachother) i would not recommend it to anyone. Still, it is possible and some people are doing it but because of the lack of a "realistic aerodynamic engine" it is not yet part of racing strategies (regarding usual or realistic terms) from my point of view.
So in other words, if youre good at it (and you have to/ if not lag spoils it) and if you want to stay in front of the grid, this is the key to success BUT if you want racing action at "normal" conditions then stick to drafting and let the amount of practice and maybe a portion of luck decide who is going to win.
well according to this interview i see no reason why lfs should not have proper aerodynamic physics some day and even have some more ovals and proper vehicles. Im also convinced that LFS has got enough potential to compete with NR03S but i wouldnt dare to compare those two games because it wouldnt make any sense. The papyrus/sierra team got a lot help from several professionals and they surely got a much bigger budget.
Time will show and until then, you can either use what you've got or ignore it and do something else.
when spectating for several minutes, the game turns into a strange "status". No cars are visible anymore although there are actually cars on track. Im able to use the F9-F12 keys and i can also see split times and lap times. (happens usually at the oval but i had it also at several other tracks)
Another bug is when im in the server list and then decide to leave this screen because i need to go back into the main screen. It only happens sometimes but when i click at back, the game closes immediately after i leave this screen.
and you still do? just in case you do, my old package says it has 240°. I know of some people that changed it to 270 degrees but since it has just 240 by stock i cant imagine modifying this value would make any sense (difference) at all. Never tried it and probably never will be but someone could enlighten me just in case i have missed something.
With my old black momo and G25 now i use(d) 0 but back in the days with my MSFF Wheel (S1) i was using 0.21.
oh really, how would you know? You never join our server and hear-say does not count.
Dont listen to that misguided character. You want to know why?
That speaks for itself.
About your case, im sorry to hear this but since it was a vote ban it only last 24h as far as i know. I would say it was definitively not worth a ban but since i do only have your version of the incident i cannot make a safe statement on that. A replay would be helpful to judge the situation as it really happend but i assume you did not saved it, did you? Anyway, you will find the so called "vote- happy" people at every server and unfortunately we can not exclude ourselfes from that. Our rules are different since the track is different compared to curcuit tracks. Many people do not understand this and i am happy about the fact that everybody can follow their very own matter of taste.
Just in case you think about joining our servers again you would be more then welcome and i think that you will get some better experiences.
interesting thread and to add my 2 cents, i found that 540° is the best setting for me and this for every isi game (gtl, gtr2, rfactor in particular). For lfs i always use the turn degrees of the cars (270° for the mrt, 720° for road cars and gt2 class, 450° for the fox and fo8, 400° for the bf1 and 540° for the gtr class)
Im also using 105% ff in the software while dumper and rebound is disabled and center spring is enabled but set to zero. In lfs i use 30% for the bf1 and for all the others between 30-40%. This way (in lfs) im almost always in the position to feel at which point i start losing grip or how the tires behave under load (weight transfer ect). Its not too much to fight against the wheel and not too less to have no feeling at all.
So in this respect, having more degrees enlarges the range of this response while having the disadvantage that its getting harder to catch the car at over- or understeer situations. As you can imagine, with less degrees youre able to catch the vehicle at almost every situation but the range of where youre able to "feel the grip" is getting very small which can produce even more situation where you get either over- or understeer.
Matter of taste dude and yet your reply shows that you still dont get it.
Theres no reason for me to argue on that topic, either you like it or you dont, simple as that. And prime examples like tristan (thank god youre here:shrug show where it ends (or could if you do not understand that there is no reason to insult people for what they are doing (lfs related)) I dont have a problem with someone that dislikes the oval even tho he never really tried it but i have a problem when the same persons join such discussions (quite frequently in tristans case) and make stupid comments just because of their own lack of knowledge.
as for getting drunk, he already had some champagne before the press conference As for you other comment, i dont think thats entirely correct but he is definitively one of the best drivers around in the F1.
well said BBT but something about your point, we are speaking about perfectionism and in that case, people should start playing or hotlapping (you name it) when the game is done, like in a couple of years or so?
I cant imagine you had that in mind. In our situation we can only make suggestions and wait for improvements, until things changes we have to make the best out of it and without us "the betha tester clientage" some (major) issues would most probably take longer to discover or never would be. I agree that doing this makes no sense at one side but on the other side it certainly does (if you know what i mean).
i thought its also a challenge and part of hotlapping to master the frustration (no matter what). Have a look at the last major updates and see how much time is lying inbetween. Besides, things always getting better so why bother?
@ Boris: i cant blame the people that want some more content since its been a while but since LFS is different in many aspects, people should know what they have payed for and be more patient (just in case they EVER read the small print). So if "people" get bored they should go and play other games and stop demanding things they'll (most probably) never get (in time). Speaking about it, i get the impression that some people have got a problem to make a difference between a demand and a suggestion but maybe thats just me hallucinating.
nice to see that you did it and i believe that if you do not install the logitech profiler you would be able to setup the combined pedals function in-game immediately. So since its forced by the software there is no way lfs could override these settings, independently from its modern status of course. Problem without sofware would be that you will never benefit and be able to setup important features as you like and i assume some games wouldn't even recognise the wheel as a modern force feedback wheel. Correct me if im wrong.
Ok, first game was Test Drive with my good old 286 machine but i wouldn't call that racing. First racing game was, and i understand racing as a challenge against human players, Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge because i was able to race against my buddies (splitscreen ftw ) and not against the time or either stupid or "ueber" AI's. The first game i was able to drive with a wheel and also online was Interstate 76 which is of course not a racing game but still a funny experience. First simulation was Nascar Racing, first sim online was GPL followed by Nascar Racing 2002 & Nascar Racing 2003 and first game im playing for several years now is of course Live for Speed
I was never a fan of those old F1 games exept IndyCar Racing because you always had to stay on the inside before a turn otherwise you would not be fast enough on the exit or simple leave the track. That reminds me on the demo days in lfs where i have seen many people taking turns the same way.
Beeing rubbish at insults (ha!) ? As if beeing good at it would make a difference at all. Just because for what people are doing or how they look like gives you a reason to treat them like retard's? Is there nothing else in your life then beeing dumb & despising to others in this forum? Thats so sad...
remember that we had a different physic engine back in the days?
Thats the only reason why its been so unstable. About the people that prefer the "200 MPH - No Skill Required!" way, many of them realize very soon thats its not as easy as it looks like and i can tell out of experience that almost 90% leave after a couple of laps/ races and the rest accepts the challenge and will soon find some intense and thrilling racing.
For me, its a hard track because as soon as i reach the limits, meaning my personal and those of the game (setup, track) its getting really hard, hotlap mode and in the grid. Now if it wouldn't be, we would have at least 100 people+ with the same hotlap time, no matter which car. I assume everybody who thinks this TRACK is a joke just never even tried to reach their own limits or found the motivation to improve themselves. Of course, its a matter of taste but if you dont like it, dont try to find some stupid arguments and make it less enjoyable for people that love it or never tried it before. Also, i never denied that the oval as we have it is in any way compareable with any circuit track and the skills that are needed but why would i try to compare two entirely different things? Both are tracks but with different goals behind it, unfortunately the draft engine is still incomplete (speaking about the push-pull effect) which is not only reflecting on the oval but even curcuit track racing would be rather different, at least at tracks with longer straights. Its like comparing FWD with RWD cars, both solutions requiring their very own set of skills but still, both are cars.
reading your comments is a waste of time and takes no skills and this is why it lets just you look like a retard. Show me your achievements and prove me wrong, otherwise get lost you bored snob.
thats not a bong but a waterpipe (Shisha) and those and two different things obviously. While the originally usage of a bong is clear, a waterpipe is only used to smoke some strange tobacco. Of course you can do it also the other way around but the meaning of it still remains.
