Quote from EasyFold :Where is the password?

EDIT) Pretty useless exercise preparing for the race and not knowing it would be under "Private". I am NOT blaming anyone par myself for not noticing that before

I was surprised to not see you tbh but
I thought that would be enough:
Quote :Further information, rules, results, base setups for each track, pre- and after race discussions, stats, replays, etc.,
will be available on www.triple7racing.net in our Forum „Leagues, Events & Challenge Us“ in the Triple Double Cup (TDC) board.

It was written in the rules that there will be a PW
It was written in the TDC forum etc.
and the PW was set 1 hour before the qualy started.

Bad luck but now you know it for the next time

Quote from jwardy :is that the whole PM team ?

If you mean me then:
No of course not

You can see it if you check the first post of this thread
or in the TDC forum.
There are all the names listed (you on place #23) that drive and also the reserve drivers that signed in just a bit late (like Ant).

Quote from anttt69 :room for one more?

LFS name: anttt69
Drivers name: [PM] Ant

I can only place you on the 2nd place in the reserve list.
Join the server before the qualy starts tomorrow
then we'll see if you can get a place in the grid.
Usually a few people don't show up, just be there

Quote from Jakg :So I should not put it on the OS drive (which will be a 7200.10 RAID0 array) but instead put it on the other slower drives, and I should have a 6GB page file...?

I would at first ask myself if the performance gain of your Raid0 is worth the double risk (if one drive fails= Data on both drives are lost)

Then what do you do with your PC?
Do you often photoshop big files that takes more of your physical Ram, or do you just play games etc.

About the size:
A good way would be to monitor how much of the pagefile is in use.

The best way (but usually not practicable) would be to put the pagefile then on a single disk with nothing else on it.
At least put it on another disk then the OS as then the read/write activity will be allocated between these both HDD.
But maybe that doesn't matter as your Raid0 is faster then all the others disks you have in use.

In the end it really depends on your system and on what you do with it in general.
I would monitor it and check how big it will be when you do the usual stuff you do
and if there is really a noticable performance win when you place it on this or that disk.

Quote from Jakg :No, he's right.

No you are both wrong.
It's 1.5x

That's what MS is saying
Quote :A frequently asked question is how big should I make the pagefile? There is no single answer to this question, because it depends on the amount of installed RAM and how much virtual memory that workload requires. If there is no other information available, the normal recommendation of 1.5 times the amount of RAM in the computer is a good place to start. On server systems, a common objective is to have enough RAM so that there is never a shortage and the pagefile is essentially, not used. On these systems, having a really large pagefile may serve no useful purpose. On the other hand, disk space is usually plentiful, so having a large pagefile (e.g. 1.5 times the installed RAM) does not cause a problem and eliminates the need to fuss over how large to make it.

Here is also something really interesting:
http://members.shaw.ca/bsander ... tualMemoryPageFileEtc.htm
Quote :A common recommendation is to make the page file 1.5 times the size of the installed RAM.
This recommendation makes sense only for computers with small amounts of RAM (256 MB or less).

Quote from slickstyle :hi people of LFS, we all know the XFG has the texture and model of the mk1 fiat punto 55s right... and even the new steering wheel looks like one, Devs, please take this into consideration, pls make the center console for the XFG found in the punto sporting it just looks so much better

It looks abit like the punto but it's not 100% the same.
And there is a reason for that.

Do you really think that one company (the Devs) can copy something from another company (Fiat) completly without any problems or without paying for it or without having the rights/permission?

So I bet your wish will never happen except some modding guys will do it.

Depends on what you all count as a "phase of boredom"
I think I never really had such a phase (or that it lasted longer then 2 or 3 weeks).

My first thought here was: "How can this be that people who are here for only 1 or 2 years are bored with LFS?"
As I never really stopped playing it for more then a few weeks in the last 4 and a half years.

Sure sometimes I only race on 3 or 5 days/per month and usually I have the most fun with it when racing in leagues
but I never really stopped playing it at all or never stopped playing it for longer then a few weeks.
But then I had other reasons or things to do that hindered me (moving, new job, holidays etc.)

Back to my first thought:
Maybe one reasons for newer people is that there are not that often major updates
like we had in the past or early years of LFS.

When I started there was only the demo available, (At first I didn't liked it that much tbh)
Then several updates later I really started to like LFS
We had only 4 tracks and 6 or 7 cars
Then I think the MRT came as an X-mas present, then I played the demo for several more months,
then S1 came out, I played the demo for some more months as I had no DSL during that time
Then I finally bought S1, then S2 and during that till today there came so much new stuff and lots of big updates:

"Old and new LFS World, Skid marks, from iirc 10 players per race to 15 to 20 up to 32, the CMX Viewer,
Westhil, Aston, an own LFS Forum (instead of the slow RSC we only had), FBM, Clutch pack, flags, tyre heating,
BMW F1, auto patches, engine sounds, outgauge stuff, refurbished BLackwood,
replay hotlap analyzer and lots and lots of more "smaller" stuff".

Over the years I really got used to the "It's ready when it's ready" mentality.
Because whenever something new came out for LFS it was great and well thought or tested.
So I'm used to wait for good things.

Another reason for not stopping is for me of course my Team.
There is always something to do, something to talk about, something to plan or to test
and I never really get bored.

But that's me, I have no patent remedy for others.
Playing other games for a few weeks is for sure a good thing
and if you got no fun driving LFS, don't force yourself to drive.
Testing other so called racing sims is for sure also a good idea
because when you then go back to play LFS you know what makes it special
and I always got back the fun instantly

Quote from SamH :Scawen Victor Eric = Scavier. It's just a fictional company name for skins and billboards, made up this way.

Exactly
and if people are lazy (like me ) and don't want to type everytime "Scawen, Victor and Eric" then you often see "Scavier" instead.

Quote from mickyc30 :oh ok, well this wasn't a mirror, it was the setup file saved to a dvd along with heaps of other stuff, so they have downloaded it and chucked the extractor on there.

Read what he wrote, there is np with it:
Quote from Scawen :In fact our download can be mirrored anywhere, including on a magazine's CD.

It's a simple win-win situation for Scawen & Co.
Maybe the magazine has a printing of 20.000 copies then the LFS demo is spread to 20.000 possible new buyer and Scavier is also saving the bandwith of 20.000 possible downloads. Nice Advertising for free

Quote from Bladerunner :Problem there is, most of my customers dont like to back up their accrued data, so a total install from an image would lose all their stuff...

Not if you also teach them to save their stuff on the second drive you've sold them

I have had about 4 computers to repair that were infected with this shite...

Only had 3 with this crap here so far but most of the times I can convince people to make a fresh base install, then use some backup system like Acronis and whenever something is really wrong then you can install the backup of the fresh install in some minutes.

You need something like the "Malwarebytes" prog.

Check this "How to remove Antivirus XP 2008" instructions
http://www.bleepingcomputer.co ... /remove-antivirus-xp-2008

But if possible I would always suggest a fresh system install.

Quote from ACLRacer :Hi T7Racers
not many words: i´m interested in joining T7R.
But there are 2 probs: noSkill and noTime to join Triple Double Cup.

greetz noSkill

p.s. does some of the former T7R left the team? (Fordman,Basem etc.)

Hi,

well that's the problem we often have.
People are interested but how can we meet them, get to know them?
As we don't want just more members but members that really fit into our Team.

At the moment it's some kind of requirement to start in the TDC
(That's more or less the meaning of it all)

Else we don't have much others ways to "judge" about interested people,
to get to know them and vice versa, see how they are on the track etc.

Another way to get into contact with the Team is for sure to check out our website and to be a little bit active in our forum.

Regards,

BBO

p.s.:
A lot of the "old guys" have left us and some left also LFS completly. Fordman, Basem, Bismarck, EMD, ...
but some are still there: SparkyDave, P1LOT, Three Jump, ...

Quote from EasyFold :I am new to LFS but drive clean and don't mind to be at the back of the pack but if that is not a concern to you all then I'd like to join in as well...

Well if you promise to practise the cars and tracks and to read the rules (and to not crash someone in T1 )
Then this shouldn't be a problem, we all had and have to start at some point.
See you on the tracks.
