It is in my estimation rear engined as the Porsche 911 is, which is the feel they were going for i believe. Its certainly not the best design, but its a heritage thing with the 911. Technically most of the front engined cars are mid engined in LFS.
I find it hard to belive the force feedback the wheel creates can actually damage it, i have a logitech as well and i have it cranked to 200% and have gone way past its force maximum (felt it slip) and its never messed up, however i have been hit right before a race restart and it nocks it out of calibration, once i recalibrated all was fixed.
if it did actually happen, the odds of that happening have to be a million to one man...but it doesnt seem to add up, they wouldnt create a wheel that the force feedback could destroy itself...
it is on the other hand VERY annoying with immature people do that, but there isnt much we can do about it besides go to pit road after the race.
Yeah, but you cant just kick people out of the race if server changes cars, personally I think a server should have to close before changing cars to be fair to the racers. I remember one time a server got very upset with me because they switched to F08's when the race was done and i was going along in the fox just trying to finish the race...
I think you misunderstand the idea of making it a server option, not manditory in all servers, if its anything like NR2003 was it'll be 75% open setups anyway..
Hmm, I think its their game and they spend their time on what they is important to make this game the best sim it can possibly be. Gah i sound like a politician, but tis true Ive been playing LFS since Early on in demo days, blocks for cars and bumblebees for sounds, with every new update ive seen i cant say i have ever been "dissapointed" with what they decide to focus on, because I know they will just get to the other stuff at a later date
Personally I would think they are more oriented on getting everything in the game working as they wish before they tackle the smaller ideas such as this. But its not bad to throw it out there so they know how we feel
No, its not stupid, but just a big plain asphault strip is not very practical for the devs to spend their time on, now this airstrip idea I think thats got some real good vibe to it...
Unfortunatly it happens booster, and even if the download was limited I dont feel it would stop them, people will just put full version up on all those file sharing things
I'd love to see an Airstrip based "autocross" track, just a big airport no set course, so we could make our own layouts on it (saves devs work, creates more things to do) Its certainly realistic, closed airport near me is opening up to be an autocross/race track. Would certainly give you what you want, nice long straightaway (with bumps and crowned though) to test out your speed and it gives us creative junkies a chance to somewhat make tracks for lfs
Just as I suspected, 50/50. I would love to see it but I guess it doesnt really fit a "true sim" to have it as an option for all the time, because only very limited series in the world use it.
Watch some touring car races, those things are rockets untill the downforce/drag kick in. Those numbers dont suprise me, some of the road cars do though, seem a bit fast considering the cars hp/weight
Definatly Nascar Racing 2/1999 was the biggest influence on me, that was basicly the first sim I played and that game really taught me a lot about how a race car works and got me into racing.
GT1 Got me into cars, I learned more about cars from that game than I had ever hoped to learn about everything, and If not for that im not sure I ever would have gotten interested in them.
Nascar heat- First sim like game I Ever played online, got me into online racing. (word to any IRF racers still hangin around)
Nascar Racing 2003 first game I ever had the privlage to mod, and really refined my driving.
LFS- Taught me what sim really meant...
non racing
Sim City 2000-This game was basicly the first computer game I ever played, and i still play it to this day.
Earth 2150/C&C: generals-Only RPG's I like because I enjoy playing em on lan against my brother.
I'd love a a track that ran along a long stretch of very wide highway or somthing then turns off into a windy two lane narrow road through the hills or somthing....that would be a dream
