Or you stay on throttle without even touching the clutch, the car doesn't stall (this is the point where the simulation fails?), and you heat up your clutch. Try it with FBM for example...
Does it read between the lines that the clutch should be more forgiving than in real life because this is just game and you're not having fun because you can't abuse it anymore?
edit: And nobody's asking you to drive slowly, the racing in LFS is still way too agressive compared to real life and if everyone else can do it, why couldn't you?
I don't know if the clutch cools too slowly, because I've never overheated a clutch to a point that it slips in real life. But I suspect that it would not cool down if it slips and generates more heat, causing it to slip more, generating more heat...
And how would just scrapping evertyhing archieved contribute to developement? Or complaining without any arguments other than "it's wrong". Provide Scawen some arguments or data, and he'll surely work around the problem if there is one.
The instant overheating when spinning feels quite strange though, but once again, I've never spun my car on high speed on tarmac while keeping the throttle floored, so how could I know?
I don't understand why do people talk about this subject, since it's about the only thing in the developement that the community can't affect. I have lots of faith in what's LFS going to be, and concerning it's realistic and transparent physics it will be the number one sim long from now on even if they stopped or slowed down the developement.
One of LFS's good sides for me is just the slow developement pace. You can have a one year brake and miss nothing. Do that in any other sim or game, and the players are already gone, or moved to next year's version of the game.
Don't have an opportunity to check your drivingnow, but I suspect that your 3 years of training says it all. Welcome to S2!
You might want to have a look at CTRA servers, they're very popular and even in the beginner license servers the quality of racing is above your average public servers.
And if it does have too little grip, the solution is not to crank up the grip level value like most game developers would do, but to find out the exact reason why it's wrong, fix it at the physics engine level, and test that it works. Thus suggesting something like that without any ideas or arguments to back it up with would not result anything.
I can stuff my whole heel into that hole
But longitudinal positioning is the one that distracts the most.
I had read about the nixim mod some time ago, but didn't know that you can order it via form and pay in 3 minutes with a credit card. Just ordered it, loads of thanks, STF!
I might not classify as a beginner, but my question really does. I used to have a red momo with squashball mod and brake axis tweaked with DXTweak. The feel and behaviour of my brake was almost like a real pressure based pedal. Heel and toeing was as easy as in real road cars, and I could adjust the braking force really precisely.
But now I have a G25, and about thousand laps under my belt. I don't even start talking about heel and toeing, because it's just impossible because of bad positioning and too long pedal travel. But in the heat of the race I can't even apply the correct amount of braking, either I lock up or brake too slowly. I can recall countless of fights with LX6 where I've been a lot faster in every other aspect except braking, but my rival has braked so much more efficient, that overall I've been slower.
I know that a lot of you guys are really talented on the brake, and have no problems heel and toeing with unmodded G25. How do you do it? Would you mind sharing any tips that have sped up your learning process? How would you recommend to set up the braking force of the car? Are other G25 users struggling with the same problem? Thank you in advance guys

EDIT: Case closed, buy a Nixim brake mod. When you've spent 250e on an incomplete wheel, 10e is relatively cheap price for something that makes it perfect! (even though it's just a little piece of simple rubber)
I suspect that just a new GFX card won't make much difference, because your CPU is so ancient and would be the bottleneck anyway. Sensible options would be to upgrade the whole machine, or not to upgrade at all I'm afraid. But if you don't care about money at all, there's AGP cards up to nvidia's 7950 GT and ATI's X1950PRO available.
Now we just need two joysticks glued from bottom to bottom as one device, and bolt it to the table to simulate handle bars. And G25's sequential shifter above left leg to simulate gear lever. And one pedal under right leg to simulate rear brake. We still need to figure out how to attach clutch and front brake levers to that handle bar device though, and build a chair that would make a decent riding position possible, but anyway I'd say we have a cheap, easy and accessible bike controller. Welcome bikes!
Applies to motorbikes in LFS, free roaming cruise tracks, colored smoke producing drift tyres, brazilian painted windows, or other nonsense that have been suggested and could be implemented. One doesn't have to use those features.
But if you can take advantage compared to others in racing, like switch your driver side for better weight distribution, check precise tyre temps or damage, or practise with a ghost car, you can't just tell everybody not to use it. You are right about it being a great tool for learning, but I don't see it being suitable for LFS.
Totally agree. Of course you could add bikes to LFS, but it would be against LFS's principles and goals. The whole "to body steer or not to body steer" thing shoots as far off the topic as does that title. The debate ended before it started.
C'mon guys, the chap has a hobby he is hooked at. Well, it happens to involve killing animals but clearly the killing is not the point. Personally I wouldn't get excited of killing a moose, but some people do and if they do it causing no unnecessary pain for the animals, why can't we let them have the fun? Killing licenses are given (sold) out in relation to a specie's population, and when mooses and deers cause thousands of car accidents every year and destroy planted woods by eating them (and my hemps ffs), I'd say it's pretty important to keep them in control. I also love eating moose soup, that my granny used to cook.
edit: A lot of this hassle towards batteryy have been lingual misunderstandings if you ask me.
Maybe Max wouldn't shame of his sex games, if he was just an old funny pervert living next doors instead of being the president of FIA. People should get equal treatment and privacy. Even the REAL, OBJECTIVE side of media I used to appreciate is full of politicians' private life shit copied straight from yellow toilet papers or entertainment mags.
But you're right, the world is cruel and crying doesn't make it any better.
But it really sucks that some people can't do what they want on their freetime without it affecting their occupation. Say I could tape myself masturbating with a baseball bat, upload it to GayTube and keep my job. New York's mayor, Finnish foreign minister, or Max Mosley probably couldn't, and that's wrong if you ask me.
