Quote from mr grady :what i meant was, the works ferrari team losing points to a team they supply an engine to.

in the past sauber have always lept out of a ferrari's way......but not this time.

Don't forget, there where two non works ferrari engines in front of the works car. The STR was there as well.

That race really did fall right for Koby, and that last corner move, he had to go for it, he had it lined up from half the circuit ago. Bold and gutsy never the less.

And the only reason they pushed penalties onto Button et al was for that very fact it was marginal. If they let them off a marginal penalty then Hamilton had every right to appeal a marginal and questionable rule break.

But for all that, dull and boring race. More processional racing and fast cars getting caught out by slow cars. ALthough I don't have any solutions that would pass muster.

Ah yes, the post patch setup update quandry. Does the new physics updates completly change the setup approaches, or will it just need tweakings. Can't wait to find out. I can waste many a happy hour making sets.

I've a feeling that this tyre update will be one of the last 'great' physics updates that Scawen will implement into LFS before having to build a completly new engine. Once he's got this out the way, coupled with the Rockingham and VWS release things will gallop forth with graphical improvements, interface, community ladders etc etc etc. I think, that this release contains a hell of a lot more than just 'improved tyre physics'. And like The Very End mentioned, we would probable get a whole lot more communication from the Devs if they didn't get flamed all the bloody time. I know I would stop talking if all I got was abuse from people not even having the decency to pay for the project. In fact I would be sorely tempted to stop working completly. What a completly ungrateful spoilt lot we are.

But, as and when this update is released, and I await it with anticipation, we will see a marked jump in updates, and information. We are going through the 'hunker down' period. What I think could be construed as the 'final' build without the final paintjob. I wouldn't be surprised that there are already complete audio and graphical updates just waiting in the wings ready for their moment.

But. These are real world people, trying to complete a 'life' choice they made in trying to bring this platform to the general public. This isn't some massive Puiblishing house releasing a half arsed, broken, affair that never gets updated. This is a Work in Progress. And we should recognise proper craftsmanship when we see it. From inception, through construction and onto completion and improvement. These guys are doing it the right way. Those neysayers really need a healthy dose of realism and to get out more.

Devs, your doing alright. And you know you are. Don't worry about the kids. At the end of the day they are not your target audience. We are, the old faithful. The ones who 'get' it. The ones with the expendable income and pay for these things ourselves with our hardearned cash. And I'm more than happy giving it to you guys for the amount of entertainment you've given me the last few years. May it long continue.

Ahmen.

The car's probably worth more than the house. Fence it off and beat anyone who comes to claim it with a big stick. 'My car now! Get off my lawn! She's mine, She's in my bed and She is staying!'

Nice to know it's the shifter. Mine does exactly the same but in my case it pops out of 5th and 6th. Deeply, deeply frustrating at times. But it's not consistent. It seems to get worse for the early part of playing untill finally it will stop all together for ages. It also seems to coniside with whether I have my hand on the gear lever or not. As in, if I remove my hand it will 'pop' out at that exact moment. So i'm wondering if it's a static electricity problem with some of the contacts. But it is so inconsistent I can't pin it down to any 'one' thing at any one time. Which is doubly frustrating.

Phft, another version of yet another track. If I want something different, I go to a different track. I know you mean well, and I love the fact that you are trying something new. Big up for that. But on a serious note, AS3 is actually, and arguable, one of the best circuits in LFS. There is a real reason why it is so popular, mainly for the very reasons you've explained for changing it.

It's easy to learn, but hard to get right.
It has space to get around people, but also space to fight.
It has a 'defined' good time. And you know when you get to the low 1.42's your getting there. But from there to the low 1.41's is a massive leap.
And the contraversial point is, it's popular for the very fact that it's popular. There is some perverse, although somtimes overwhelming, enjoyment from starting at the back of a packed noob grid and battling to the front and racing with the fast guys. How often do you see the 141'ers cruise to the front, only to intentinally start from the back again in the next race.

I'm all for variety and well intentioned track experimentation. That can never be a bad thing. But to slam a popular track for continually being good. There are some things you just won't change, and AS3's popularity is one of them. Untill rockingham that is, but I doubt even then you'll get much of a traffic drop. People like what they know.

Nice effects. The only thing I noticed (other than your tendancy to get near the tyres, hehe) was that 'your' wheel carried on turning a fraction after the 'car' wheels stopped. I know thats all LFS setup and ratio stuff, but it just looked a little wierd.

Nice effect though.

I thought the materialisation of cars out of thin air was an effect. It looked alright if you look at it like that, if it's a technical cock up, not so good. Hehe.

Loved the closing shot.

I think the 'Pearcy Pass' must be going into the LFS hall of Fame as the most used replay of all time. Still a great move though. And a pretty good movie too, a bit laggy and jumpy in places and some slo mo might have been nice, but some nice shots and good work.

Well put Becky. Couldn't really say it fairer than that.

Although I do see both sides of the camp. But my take on it is that I've paid for what i've got already. And by god has it given back. You don't have a car manufacturer coming back and constantly bolting extra bits on to your pride and joy just because they've had a breakthrough in the workshop, no, they wait and bolt it onto the next model so it's shinier and newer and faster and sexier than the previous model so you'll come back and spend the money all over again on what is essentially an identical car.

From a commercial viewpoint, we've payed, we play. We don't subscribe, there is no after market agreement that Scavier will constantly drip feed updates and improvements. LFS is very much a WIP, always has been and will be for a while yet. We're not dealing with a large multi-national rehashing old code and bolting on pretty effects, we're talking a father, a husband, a regular bloke trying to pay the bills with as many projects as he can. He's just some dude with a dream that I subscribe too. And when his dream is ready, and not a moment before, he will release it to the world.

And 'lo, for they will bow down and castrate themselves at his feet.
And they will call him, Scavier. The saviour of on-line sim racing. Ahmen.

I think I've overdosed on coffee this morning.

It looked really good untill I realised you had the on board camera floating rather than fixed to the car . . . . . It then became my 'thing' and couldn't watch anymore. Nice though.

Quote from NL_RevZ :I just let LFS update to Z25, the framerate is the same but now I notice stuttering (looks like a frame skip of 1, at ~200 fps minimum) and it is annoying me to hell What is going on here? NOTHING has changed other than this, and just minutes before I updated it (SP mode) it was running just fine

Have you happened to update Windows vista at about the same time. I am suffering the same thing, but, it's a vista update issue rather than LFS. I am still trying to get to the bottom of it myself, It's really messing up my lap times . . . .hehe.

Lynce, my love. I love your work, it's amazing how much effort you put in to doing these videos. But . . . .

I have but two critisms. Firstly when the Fz50 enters the pits, there is no shadow cast over the car, you have sky across the whole body even when under the canopy of the pit.

And, the rain reflection. I can see what your trying to do and I think it's amazing to look at, but unfortuantly, it's the same reflection across the kurbs and and the normal race track. It just doesn't look right. The reflection from the front works very well, seeing the spoiler reflected in the rain soaked track is amazing, but the side views with the wheels, it just doesn't look right.

But, amazing work. I have always admired your stuff. Keep up the good work.

I'm loving that little cock of the rear wheels, shows how rigid they are. Mini racing. Great to watch. The leading blue car was a bit of a numpty, completly out raced at the end there. Good driving from the incar pilot.

Quote from Byku :Ohhh... indeed... gravel ^^... well, that still doesn't change the fact that we won't get it .

It's outside the oval, which means for LFS to model it would require a hell of a lot more memory. Rockingham is nice because it is all self enclosed, you don't need to model/Render anything other than what you have too.

The rally stage would have to be a seperate entity in it's own right for LFS to utilise it.

Quote from NightShift :

Tyre physics directly impacts 100% of the existing userbase (including those that cannot be bothered to play anymore but will come back as soon as it is released) + 100% of the potential userbase.

Multiple monitor support? is a very nifty addition but assuming it will sell a lot of LFS licenses in the real world is wishful thinking. Those who had multiple monitors were already using SoftTH probably, so they received a great improvement but it's not like they were stuck using a measly single monitor, poor little darlings.

I'll be very glad if it'll make our dear devs earn some more money, but we've been waiting 15 months already for this delayed patch, and it should not surprise anyone if releasing MMS main consequence is a lot of eyebrows raising.

With Z25 delivered as a transitional update the most reasonable expectation is 0.6A will follow god knows when, it's pretty much clear to anyone (naive people included) they wouldn't have gone through the hassle of releasing it if 0.6A was close.

It almost seems like LFS is stuck in the simracing equivalent of The Groundhog Day, and the only ones who care about producing funny justifications anymore ought to like committing simsuicide day in day out.

You havn't run many business's have you.

Quote from aroX123 :It was but,
10,2% of lfs drivers has more than 1 screen,
6,7% has more than 3.
1,1% has more than 4
0,2% has more than 5

But, 0.2% of LFS users with the 5 screens are exibition pieces to the 99.9% of people who don't use LFS now. A worthwhile and lucrutive corner of the commercial market. If you make your simulator easy to set up and run on a 'simulator', who are the 'simulators' going to use?

It's niave to think that multiscreen programming is not as important as the tyre pyhsics. It may be that way too you, but not to someone trying to run a business.

Don't try handbraking a Landrover defender. The handbrake sits on the driveshaft out the gear box. Pull that up too fast and you lock all four wheels and warp the driveshaft. Usefull when you don't have a metaled surface to grip onto though.

The landrover doesn't dive foward or backwards depending on the direction of travel upon the application of brakes it does, however, have the turning circle of an ocean going yaght and will only stop rocking three weeks after you've parked it.

-Was that our turning? No, serioulsy hun. I think we should have turned there. Yea, look. Alpha z plural 9, that was definatly our turn. Hon? Honey? Are you even listening to me?
-huh?
-I knew it. You whern't. Where you even paying attention to the space lane? Didn't you see the nav ping? God. Now we're going to be late. My mother always said this of you. She told me I was making a mistake marrying a Jew. 'Never marry a jew' she said. 'Crap at navigation'. Are you gonig to turn this boat around any time soon? Look, there is a service station coming up. Pull over, I need the loo anyhow and the one aboard is still broken after your last emergency evacuation. Then we can turn around and hopefully still make it in time to see Father reasuringly titanic sruggle with the old Cine projector. Turn off here . . . . Here. Damn it! And mind that Freighter, I said mind it! Never mind that you had inches to spare, I'd prefer metres. Now, look for an empty slot, somewhere near the hub, i don't want to go traipsing miles down some dimly lit corridor fighting the gravity and what ever Freight Jock takes a shine to me. What did you say? I'd be lucky would I? You've got some nerve Joe, you really have. There!, right there! They are pulling out, here! Stop! Right here. What do you mean your too close and you'll have to back up. If you stopped when I said you wouldn't have too. You don't need left or rights, you should be more observant in the first place. Right, there. They are gone, never mind them behind you. Right, are you coming? No? A ciggerette? So your going to leave me to wonder the halls of a strange far flung service station in the middle of bloomin nowhere? I could be ravaged by anyone in there. Those Freighter types, they are not civilised. And i'm sure I saw a navy Vessel on the other side and you know what they can be like. . . . . Joe, If I didn't know you where a man of god i would almost have taken that to be maliscious. Very good then. If I'm not back in ten minutes, come and find me. Look, see, even the airlock hasn't been cleaned recently, I hate to think what life form left that there . . . . . . And no pulling away like you did last time. It wasn't funny then, and it won't be funny now. Right! Back soon dear! . . . . . . . .
