I'm with the red car, Oskar outbreaked himself, he didn't really have anywhere else to go, but the red car was allowed to be defensive. And the grip levels obvioulsy wasn't that good for all the cars. Oskar span out.

But I would have done the same to Oskar. Squeezed him into the apex, it's a fair move I reckon. Don't forget the red car was also watching the cars in front and they seemed to be working the outside of the track, so maybe he was hoping they would out drive themselves.

A racing incident, nothing more.

Dear Intrepid.

You obviously hold something against our dear blightly's Auntie. And for that I'm sorry. If you can't understand why people are willing to pay for a non commercial Trust based organisation, that promises not to product place in any childrens shows, to offer me top rate documentary's (Blue planet, Madagasgar (come on, the new glut of programmes from the nature unit is absolutly worth the licence fee in its self)) and entertainment (Top Gear, Traffic Cops etc) then my friend, we really are on a hiding to nothing. Because you really are missing the quientisential point of the BBC.

Don't get me wrong, I think even the most Staunch defenders of the faith would agree that the Beeb do not get it right all the time and their failings are many. But that still does not take away the fact that it is the most unique broadcaster in the modern world. My housemate is Australian, and he can't get enough of it and won't stop telling me how lucky we are to have it. The New zealander I worked with listened to Radio 4 constantly and can't understand anyone who berates the station. The south african, the American, the Italian. All of them use the Beeb, listen, watch, admire and respect the Beeb.

And that, the export alone, is also worth the licence fee. So, to sum up. Blue Planet, Top Gear, the foriegners who appreciate the BBC for what it is . . . . . All this and more makes it worth the licence fee. Look beyond your own misconceptions, and whilst you may still not like what you see on the TV, at least understand what it offers to everyone else.

We are very very lucky to have it. And I hope my childrens children get to have it too, and I will fight people like you who wish to see it gone till the day is done.

Commercial station, over public subscription. Come on, take a deeper look into those ideals I beg you.

Aussie v8's, ftw.

Right then.

My ten pence's worth.

The BBC is without doubt the best broadcaster in the world. It is a model both admired and aspired to by many. The BBC is unique in this modern capatalist world and we should consider ourselves very very lucky that it has managed to survive as long as it has. The Beebs output isn't just about F1 or eastenders or Doctor who. The beeb is about the very programmes you guys have been knocking it for, everyone pays, everyone is entitled to watch well informed, and well made programmes about doorknobs of the 15th Centuary on BBC3. I would gladly pay more for my licence, because I use the whole length and breadth of the BBC, Radio, TV, Internet, News, Current Affairs, Enterainment, Comedy, the list is endless. And I very dare you to come up with viable and equivilent Broadcasters who offer as much as and to the same quality as, the BBC.

Bernie never wanted the Beeb to get the F1 because he couldn't get his sharebuying, scheming, company purchasing, money grabbing little hands on any of the coverage. Which is why it's so controlled and there is constant reference to it by Martin and the boys. I think the BBC did a tremendous and respected job against the difficult backdrop that is the politics of modern F1. If F1 drops from the beeb, I wouldn't miss it. It's their coverage I like, no adverts, unbiased (as much as they can be) and UNCONTROLLED from any investors or interested parties. To be honest, if it drops from the beeb, I think it will just serve to highlight just how much the sport has lost followers and will only serve as that final last straw for many UK followers.

And thus, I urge the BBC to not fret it, don't chase it. Get Aussie V8's instead.

edit: those polish drivers sure like a flambovant driving style , especially that black/white Ralliart Evo. And those setups look a tad too bumpy

I was thinking the same. The setups looked very loose on a lot of the cars but I guess they are dialed in for the season rather than race by race. Shame about the evo crashing out, he was wringing the nut's of that car.

Quote from PMD9409 :I blame the crew. Sure the guy is missing some brain cells, but why park the crew there? Just silly, and sadly deserved.

It's never deserved mate. And thats a very naive thing to say. Your point stands with the placement of the crew, not very clever. But the fault lie's if anything with that muppet who was driving. But yea, you never put anything or anyone in the 'firing line' no matter how good the driver. But still, it wasn't deserved.

You can hardly say they (scawen) has messed up. You try simulating a real time physical enviroment as complex as Tyre construction and interaction. I surprised he hasn't roped in the LHC for all the computational power that needs. One desktop (possible up there in the Uber league, but you get my point), one man, one very busy life. He's doing a damn sight better than I would be doing. I'm impressed with how he's gone about it. A full 'scale' model of tyre interaction, if he can pull that off well then that alone would be worth a fortune.

Imagine the sponsership he could pull off with that. If you want real life cars, race cars and more then you let him develop a commercial simulator that real life Manufacturers and Racing teams would want.

LFS can only get better. Like any fine piece of engineering, it may not be the prettiest beast on the block, but by god she goes fast.

Well done Scawen and team. Your doing well. Keep it up.

Just bumping this post up becuase may I say that V8SC has a new convert.

I'm loving this years racing.

Close, big machines, true up close racing. And some edge of seat stuff, especially at the Gold Coast. A breath of fresh air compared to F1. There has been some great coverage on Youtube so I've managed to get nearly all the races. If not actually as they happen.

This is how racing should be, a good mix of heavy power, strategy and racecraft. A great series and I shall be keeping a very close eye on it. If only it had more european coverage.

It's a free and open country. You've got the power ain' yer? The knowledge? The finance? The time? You havn't?

Then shut the your bleedin' heart up. For gawds sake.

Quote from Bob Smith :Scawen is known to be working hard still on tyre physics. He might not be putting in the big hours he did at the start of this project, but then why should he? It's clearly not ideal to go so long without an update, but Scawen is commited to tyres, and at least when it's updated, he hopefully won't have to go back to it for a long time.

What I find more worrying is why we couldn't of had at least content patches in the meantime. Sure Rockingham, Scirocco and other surprises have to wait, but the existing models and textures could have been polished to a shine by now. So the question is either, why couldn't they be released, or why haven't they been done? We've had nice updates to tracks and interiors before, why can't we again to tide over the community until Scawen has something for us?

The thing is though Bob, is that who knows what effects what. If you've got a more accurate tyre model, then you've got more accurate suspension modelling. More accurate wheel movement within the arches, more effictive aero, etc, etc. All of which will effect model builds, certain track effects et al et al. We already know the wheel into wheel arch defect, as well as Track gremlins like the KYGP kurb. Why release visual updates for a short term fix when you know you've got to do them all over again to accomodate new physics. Why work twice as hard goin over the same ground when once over when the new physics is done is a far more sensible option. Even the likes of the interiors might be effected ( I know, I know . . how. But you just never know, could be something as simple as steering wheel placement. I dunno) If the amount of work is going into LFS is as a take it to be, then I certainly wouldn't be thinking graphics was a priority. Maybe if I had a more commercial enterprise with a team of artists and programmers then sure, keep the community hanging. But from a personal approach, a 'one man gang' effectivly. Then i certainly wouldn't be doing anything untill I managed to fix what I broke trying to fix what needed fixing. Once all the sticking plasters are removed, then you can go about doing the decorating.

Scawen. Mate. If you actually read any of this drivel, which I hope for your sake you don't, do me a favour woulda.

Don't release S3 for a while.

It's just my g25 is buggered and I'm not going to get myself a g27 till at least after christmas as a little present to myself once I've sorted everyone else's presents out. And it would really really nark me if I had to play your glorious updated racing simulator on shoddy, half working equipment.

So please. If you could. Just ease up a bit, chill out for christmas, take a winter sun break. (I'm thinking of Morroco for two weeks in december. Should be nice.) and possibly think about a mid to late jan release. I think the timing would be perfect.

Thankyou for consideration in this matter. Yours truly . . .

A long standing fan.

Quote from AcesHigh :No its not, IMO its been no apparent change since 2007. Its just this forum that has been infested with idiots.

It's not infested. There are still the same amount of idiots here as there has always been. It's just all the normal, sensible, well adjusted to real life people are busy keeping their noses out of it and letting Scavier crack on. Without the level headed giving balance to the idiots, we've allowed them to get more than one word in edgeways. And so we have an apparent infestation. The normals are still around, just waiting. Lurking. Sometimes drooling. Probable packing lot's of heat. With some sharp blades somewhere too. So if you hear something going bump in the wardrobe at night, thats all the sensible people having a heated yet polite discussion (as only you can when eyeing up each others nuclear arsenal) about who's turn it is to peer out the keyhole.

And as a result of all the scuttling around in dark corners of the multiverse by all the normal people, all that your left with are the idiots. Shouting and banging their drums whilst beating their chests out in the open, in broad daylight, without any. Cover. At. All.

Oh, I appear to have let the safety off of my big red button. My finger is drawn inexorable towards it. I can't help it, it's sooooo . . . . . ineviatable.

Quote from Intrepid :The more people exposed to a viewpoint the better. Whether it's by a petition or on a sim forum. Either way, some on this forum, have started to come around to this viewpoint.

The thing is, your still fighting for the scrappage from a rather narrow viewpoint, i.e. your pocket. At which point you turn round and go, yea, where else should I be looking at it from. But, as a conservative socialist myself I urge you to look at the bigger picture. BBC content, reportage, programme making, editorial techniques, procedures, heritage, factual content and (lest we forget) entertainment quality is exported around the globe. It is a globally respected and loved corporation. Commercial Media does not work from a social aspect. The bbc has the largest market share of continious usage of all the major network controllers. It's a national entity that we should be rightfully proud of and happy to pay for. It's unique, special and above all loved. I'm listening to it right now whilst typing this. Everything has a value. My sanity and my desire to not be advertised at is equal to if not more than the licence fee.

I ask you to pay your share because whilst you may not realise it, you also take in BBC content. Whether passivly on the radio in the work van, or maybe activly when you watch a certain news bulletin or comedy sketch show. I ask you, to carry on your payment so that the majority of the UK population (and the world) can enjoy good, factual, entertaining, bias free media coverage.

If you choose to opt out of the BBC license fee, do you mind also opting out of council tax, National Health, A large majority of your income tax and most of your road tax as well please. Because you don't use every available service paid for by those.

The alternative to a less well funded BBC is not a good one. I for one, will continue to support it.

And apparently there is a F1 race tomorrow. Something about a Brazilian and a leg wax. I dunno.

I miss GTR AstNat, T1. No, seriously, I do. I know it's still out there somewhere, but this is memory lane.

No, GTR AstNAT, T1. Nothing beats the feeling than starting at the back, as so many of the regular combo users did and watching everyone cane out on T1. Then you could find yourself in third and surrounded by all the other 1.41'ers that started at the back too. Good racing always ensued so long as you managed to ignore all the whiners asking for a restart.

I also miss ****ing up your setup. You get a good time, think you've nailed it, then you go and change something. Wham, all gone down the pan. I miss that.

I also miss my G25. LFS owes me a new G27. If it ever patches, thats what it's going to buy me. At the moment, as the build stands, it doesn't warrent any more invesment from me. I need some commitment to put in some funds.

I miss the good racing with good racers. Not the fast racers. Not the super alien ninja's. But the good, honest, respectful racers that you could battle out for 10 laps knowing they ain't going to send you into the armco. To all those guys (and gals . . hey Becky. Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more. Say no MOAR!) I raise a beer. Cheers gents.

Maybe one day, we can meet again in the wee small hours, sipping San miguel and giving each other just enough space to pull the move off if you can make it stick, but positioned in such a way that if you've ****ed it up, your off.

Salute!

Quote from Intrepid :

F1 without ads (though F1 is pretty much a 2 hour billboard procession anyway) is not a price to pay for having a public funded broadcasting company that is clearly holds a political agenda. If the current set of BBC strikes that coincidently fall exactly at the time of the Tory conference (while Labour has had wall to wall coverage) is not a clear sign of institutional bias I do not know what is. This coming after Mark Thompson admitted a massive left-wing bias as well. And the less said on their climate change reporting the better.

But yes, some of what the BBC do is fantastic, but I would like the choice to pay for those services if I so wish. I would happily subscribe to some of the BBC's services. If the BBC was sold off it's not as if all their genuinely talented staff would disappear into the abyss. Quality programmes will still be made.

I read the Auntie bashing with interest. And I do see the points for slamming the beeb.

BUT.

The conservative conference may not be getting much coverage because, as it happens, the Tory's are in bed with the Murdocks. Major Conservative sponsers, major deal going on to try and dismiss the Licence and make it a pay for view. This was alll reported in Non Newscorp news outlets during the election. I really really don't want the Beeb to go. A Hundred an thirty quid for the beeb. Bargain. Slam on another 70, make it a cool 200. I'd still pay it. The fact that the beeb does have the licence fee means it has greater editorial freedom than any commercial station could ever have. You say that it had a political bias over the labour conference. Fox didn't even register that Barack Obama exsisted. You take away the freedom that the BBC possesses and what ar eyou left with? Sky. Thats what. Who owns Sky. Murdock thats who. Who owns the Times, the sun, the Mirror, the News of the World. The Financial times, the Wall street Jornal, The Dow Jones index, Myspace, The national Rugby league, HarperCollins, The Chinese broadcasting network, the global Hebrew leaders? Oh, thats Murdock as well. The amount of pies he has his fingers in is endless, not to mention political connections. Including the notion that he 'owns' a senator. If you want political bias, look no further than that insidious Ozzie.

Personally, considering the alternatives, I'll stick with the beeb.

Look at the list of great comedy that came from the bbc. And still do. Drama, sport, current affairs. Radio content, internet content, childrens tv(this is the big one, I don't want my kid to be advertised too all bloody day). All without commercial and (hypothetically) editorial bias.

God bless the Queen, God bless auntie.

Correction - Sky is fighting BskyB's majority stakeholder bid. My bad. Sorry

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :I'm not sure why I still bother checking this "thread", but at least this gem is in here.... The answer to your question is: "NO". There isn't. It's the divine experience on all conceivable levels. Enhanced only by a real beer (such as MacEwan's; the epitome of all things that beer should be... strong, rich, dark, heady etc) whilst enjoying the sight, sound and smell of searing meat. Great scenery AND beer makes the experience nigh unto angelic, surreal, enlightening and soulful.

See attached.

Finally this thread has found it's true direction. No more Scawen bashing whilst he's slaving his little programming god like heart out. No more shall we listen to the whiners, the naysayers, the 'I know everything'ers, physics experts, dynamic loading specialists, tyre engineers and game designers that everyone here perports to be. At least we can hark back to the halcyon days of LFS gone past; of discussion about whether you could see pamela anderson sunbathing on the wing of the FZR; of Becky Rose keeping every red blooded male alive with her tales of lesbianism; of quick wit and faster driving. At last. We can return. The LFS forum can now settle into itself like a pair of old driving gloves. No longer will we suffer the slings and arrows of the 'MUST. HAVE. NOW!' Generation.

For I beseach ye, is there no more a finer question, a more poinent question, a more pertinent, a more robust, a more quizzical question than that of . . . . . .

What can be better than meat on a fire?

WHAT CAN BE BETTER . . . . . THAN MEAT ON A FIRE!!

WHAT! Canbebetter. Than. MEAT! On a fire.

Meat! On a fire.

Scirrocco be damned. Here renameth this thread to the above question. I decree it and it shall be so. Ahmen.

All praise our lord (even if he is a little quiet at the moment) Scawen.

I'd hate to think how much recoding has to be done if Scawen is remodelling the tyre physics. Because whilst on paper just giving the tyre physics an overhaul sounds like a good idea at the time that then impacts on the car handling physics. How it behaves under load, braking, longitudinal, acceleration, positive G, negative G, burn out's, longevity of setups, sprint characturistics, enduro degredation, Slip angles, tyre pressures, downforce, oh my god, double downforce. What does it all mean, somebody help me.

Good things come to those that wait. And those who can't wait, learn to program. Then by the time you've learnt to just get up to ISI engine level, you might realise just how much work is needed for a 'true' simulator to work properly. Ease of with the flames. It's not like your next breath depends on it.
