It's basic biology at the end of the day. If you put in more than you take out you get a surplus. The body goes, 'ooooo, i'll have some of that for a rainy day. just in case we get caught out on the Savannah millions of miles away from any food'. Only, we don't live on the Savannah no more. We live and work in ergonimic comfort zones with a chocolate box in every corner and never a chance to use all those calories.

I eat like a horse. In fact I don't stop eating. But I mainly eat what is laughingly described as 'healthy' stuff. I just class it as normal and all that pizza, beefburgers, chips, Crisps, Chocolate and sugery drinks as being abnormal. Plus I do have a pretty active job and cycle pretty regularily. Still fit into My 32 inch jeans I've had since I was 17. Thats an inch for every year of my life. Hehe.

As the great poet once said 'Get some excercise!'

The Atkins Diet is bad. It's evil. He died of . . . . Yup, heart desease. It's not a good way to loose pounds. In fact, there is evidence to suggest it removes brown fat as much as white fat. Brown fat is good fat, it's what your body most needs in reserve. It's the muscles immediate energy store and in itself is actually beneficial to the loss of weight. White fat is the stuff that lypo goes sucky sucky at. Although you often loose a lot of brown fat there too, because it is interspersed with the white fat. But anyway, whichever way, brown or white, Atkins is not a healthy way to eat.

So don't do it.There is only one garantueed way to loose weight. Well, two actually. Eat less, excercise more and the other is food poisening. I wouldn't recomment you try the second way though. Not nice.

Quote from pandera :you do know that the guy was racing? for real.. so comparing him with boys "driving" Gran Turismo is simply wrong

end of OT

I think you lost something in Translation. Read it again and then comment on whether my inclusion of Steve McQueen into that statement was justified.

I'll give you a clue, the basic premise was 'Those console Jocks who think they are Steve McQueen'. Which doesn't actually show any disrespect at all. So before you go slagging me off of disrespecting the 'Queen. Make sure you understood the very thing your slagging off.

But the difference is Tris that Console jocks don't want realistic. They want what they think is realistic based on highly styalised and doped up effects based hard thumping sound track cool guy get the girl who would snap as soon as you look at her chased by the worlds evil men through Paris/Milan/London/New york/Mars looking like Steve Mcqueen type movies.

show them actual real life and they get bored very quickly. Either that or they've killed themselves by driving straight to the scene of the nearest accident when they forgot that tyres don't stick to the road surface with some highly improbable grip. Tyres skid. Lots. As anyone who has had an accident will testify.

Bring it on, I can't wait. Tris, sign me up for the 'I'm glad LFS is better and more realistic club mk 2' i'll be the honoury hat stand.

Nothing wrong with them speaking german. It's not like we can access the site very well anyway. Like you said this is an international site and there are many international languages. They all have a right to be used. Except maybe Experanto.

If your that bothered about it, you go and translate it.

For this to have happened the way it has, the FIA must have known about this for along time. Or if not the FIA then someone very high up knew about it and was pulling everything together. They had to have a witness, they have to have proof, they needed to be quick. The fact that junior was offered impunity so early on and how fast this is progressing even after Briatore has stepped down then someone at the top has a real grudge against Renault (Or more specifically, Briatore or someone in that team) and it's a grudge that has been a long time in the making.

i think it's right that something like this is brought up and used as an example. But it's a bit like prefessional fouls and falling in football. We all know it goes on, we can all see it happening. But what the hell can be done about it? If the teams themselves won't conduct themselves in a sporting fashion on and off the racetrack then someone needs to be brought to book. Maybe Bernie is seeing too much of this thing atm and maybe the Renault thing is actually more of a message to the other teams. Pull your socks up or the're will be more of this type of thing, because I'm sure he's got transcripts and logs of every radio message sent over the past 15 years.

I'm sure that the whole reason for this bottom up reprogramming approach is that Scawen has known for a while that the tyre physics won't stand up in the rain, as it where. So rather than mash on through and make a hash up when rain is implimented he has done the honourable thing and taken the engine to bits to make it inifintly better for you and me. Which is kinda what he said anyway when he explained the delays.

I'll get ma coat.

The fact that a sim like LFS can generate such a complete polarisation of responses from an informative, reasoned and above all involved update report is, quite frankly, a credit to Scawen and the crew of Devs and beta testers. I can easily understand why big production and development houses loose interest in the constant bickering and nit picking that they reseive from half baked, middle intelligence numpty's who couldn't string a piece of code together if it was written out for them. Nothing in life is free. Nothing is given to you without someone somewhere having too foot the bill. Big publishers get that bill payed for by numpty's when they fork out 30-40 quid for some showy bit of graphical wizzadry that is played through in five minutes flat and then recieves no further updates. The little guys can't work like that. They survive by doing what they can and when they can, and when they feel they have a product that is worthy of being sold, then they will put a few quid price tag on it and hope poeple appreaciate the effort that is put into it. LFS has had a lead in time of years. And it's still in development. We are in the fortunate position of seeing a quite franky, astounding piece of programming being put together bit by bit, with the emphasis on being that if the foundations need to be redug, then they will be to make the final product even better.

By paying our money, for LFS, in my view, we are not neccesarily buying a kick arse race sim that is unrivalled in it's field. What we are buying into is a patronage of something that is not 'big' business. It's not grind house developing. It's not a glamour model, all big in the chest but short in the head. It's brains before beauty. It's intellgence before cras kowtowing to ignorant consumers who don't understand what they have on their desktops.

There is an ethos behind LFS that does not follow the received wisdom of game development. It's never been, and I hope it never will be, a purely commercial enterprise. Scawen is a bloke. A normal bloke with a family and a very understanding wife who has a mortgage to pay and mouths to feed. I have patronised him for the content that I already have. I fell in love with LFS not for the way it plays as much as the very fact that it has such a small development team that seem to be completly dedicated to making this racing sim we all know and love the best racing sim that has ever been made. I am sure the end game being that the LFS physics engine will be used for many years to come under licence. And in that, we can all say that we where there at the beginning. We watched and played as it was all put together. Our input, made this sim the way it will be.

For someone to say that we should model the devs in CSS and shoot them, is so abhorent that it defy's explanation. IT has no basis in reality, as the author of said comment proabably has no basis in reality. You do not deserve 'free' stuff. It is not a 'right' to recieve updates for free or in the time scale that you require. But it is the 'right' of the Devs to dictate how and when and for how much they release sections of their hard born work.

For those who feel that LFS's development is not keeping pace with your desires, then I urge you to spend some time developing your own Racing Sim so that you can prove your point. Maybe you can do it better, maybe you won't do it any worse, but my bet is, you can't do it at all. And that, at the end of the day, is all you buy of anything. You pay your money for something that you can't, or won't, do yourself. The devs are adults. And I know a good proportion of LFS lovers are of an adult and reasoned persuasion. I urge the flamers, the trolls and the down right rude and obnoxious to take a good look around and readdress some attitudes. Because if you share the attitudes that you have on here in Real Life then you won't be getting very far. For a start shooting people is generally considered a very bad thing and gets you a life stretch at her majesty's pleasure.

So, to end my monologue, I urge in you, alll of you from both sides of the coin to find some maturity, some understanding and less hostility. It will all come good in the end.

And to return to my first point. I think, I hope, the devs look at the passion they invoke from their drop in the software ocean as a kinda back handed compliment. I don't see quite as much vehmenence on Eve's boards. (actually, maybe I do. Hehe).

Nuf sed. Keep up the good work boys.

If dawesdust wants to make a thread repeating everything else that everyone else already has already said at least twice, it's Dawesdust, he's allowed too.

It's like his racing, always two minutes behind everyone else.

And anyway, for the rapture to happen we first need the four horseman of the carpocalypse to appear first.

Gatso - The horseman for the proliferation Speed camera's.

Eco - The horseman that will ensure the oil will dry up.

Rust - The Horseman that ensures a constant damp atmosphere where ever you are (He's already in the UK).

and not forgetting . . . . . . .

Sparky - The Horseman thats going to let battery power take over all forms of motorised transport.

Only when these four have done their foul and evil deeds will Scavier take us up to the rapture that is perfect LFS Nirvana.

I have spoken, thus it will be.

Hi Guys. Got a few bob i'd like to share with you.

Firstly, great system. I do enjoy working towards a goal and can't wait to see some familiar faces up in the rarified air of the GT's as and when I get the points for them.

I was racing for a few hours last night, love the different combo's. Keeps you on your feet, tweaking setups etc, etc. But I do feel a small amount of admin presence could really help when the server is full. I did see some quite shockingly bad examples of race craft and complete disregard for fellow racers. I know the lower classes will get that anyway, CTRA was no different, but CTRA did have a palpable presence on the racetrack and in judicial dealings. It just got frustrating at times. No huge issue.

And the other was the ASNat retire zone at the chicane. I know why it's there, if it wasn't then that shortcut would be more abused than one of Michael Jacksons 'special' friends. But I got retired after being hit up the backside with no place to go, took me by surprise that did, and quite ruined a respectable points scoring position.

Again, maybe a more obvious admin presence might serve to relax that zone and reprimand any 'shortcutters' immeadiatly both verbally and by use of banning if the offense it repeated. It was quite frustrating for someone who gets pushed off through no fault of their own.

But on the whole, great job. S'nice to see a points table up and running again. Good work Fella's.

Quote from scoped11 :yes ths is what i mean , on teh original Z version the wheel works perfect . , i start having these issue with the test patches xD

Are you running multiple versions of LFS? I would punt for having some of your settings different in each version. Make sure your analogue steering smooth is set to Zero in both version. I reckon in one you have it at zero and in the test patch it's reset to something else. Go through all your settings in the earlier patch and mirror in the new one. Plus, is the profiler set up for 'generic' settings or game specifics. It may not recognise the new LFS patch, thus reverting back to basic settings. Set the profiler to generic.

I've been putting on some hours in the old LX6. But I feel the CR server needs to adjust it's track rotation. Tracks like Aston GP and Ky Long realistically wouldn't be raced by the likes of the LRF's. You want short, point and squirt tracks . . . . The Fe's are ideal, as are the short astons. WE is just too long, with too many high speed corners and straights, and I think the same stands for Kyoto. The LX's top out at 140 which makes for a rather long and dull banked section.

Prehaps the server could do with some tlc and people might be more encouraged to race the tracks provided. It's not so bad at the moment becuase it's normally just me and I track rotate untill I get one i like.

I think I'm finally getting to tame the beast that is the LX6, but I still have a lot to learn about setting it up.

You fundimentalists here can split your days into .5's all you like, but the middle of the year is the exact time when the sun reaches the zenith on the equinox. It's the longest day. From then on it's all down hill till the winter equinox. So it could well be the 183rd, or the 182nd. It don't matter mathmatecally. It's all about the sun baby, yea! Like the calender is right anyway, we have to add a day every four years and we're a 'something' of a second out everyyear anyway. So your all wrong. The Bear is correct. Go by Solar. It works for me. Oh, and I've had beer. Beer in the Bear is a good thing. Because it means I go forth and spout meaningless drivel on the Sim racing forums . . . .

I was thinking about this today. I mean. I've had alot of good value for money play out of LFS. Let's look at the evidence shall we.

1) 24 measly sguiggles. I mean, I pay that to my local landlord most nights, and thats just my beer.

2) I paid for that, oof, nearly two (maybe more) years ago.

3) Lets just look at that again shall we . . . . 24quid. Two years ago. I'm still playing.

4)2 Years ago, the devs could have thrown a few bells and whistles at LFS, chucked another 10 quid on top of the 24, released a pretty good, but not perfect (but then, what is) racing simulator. And walked away.

5) They could have walked away.

6) They didn't

7) My 24 quid has payed for a product. I'm using that product. WHAT IT HAS NOT PAID FOR IS EXTRA CONTENT. The devs provide that out of :-The goodness of their hearts. :- A sensible community based marketing strategy that will generate more income in the future when we all upgrade to S3 final.

8)THEY DO NOT OWE US ANY MORE CONTENT!!!

9) LFS is a WIP, it's all in the small print. In fact, thats why I paid my money, to contribute to the ethos behind the development of this game. Fair play to 'em I say. I wish I had the nouce to be able to do it.

So, to recap. Extra content is a bonus, not a garantee. For 24 pounds we have, quite frankly, an excellent product that whilst not without it's flaws is a damn sight better than alot of products I buy for more.

This continual need to feel your being treated in a special way by being drip fed new content, new maps, new guns, new cars, new layouts, new pron, new everything. This is why we're in a global credit crunch. Just be thankful for what you have received. You are NOT owed anything by anyone.
