After posting the following in another thread in the Unnofficial Addons section of the forum, several programmers/developers expressed interest in such a project, and so, posting here as advised

An insim applications to control the display and management of Race Control Messages (RCM's) within LiveForSpeed.
This would be used mainly by Event Managers and Race Directors to make the RCM Process easier.
Currently to display an RCM and remove it, the Race Director has to type the following:

/rcm_all - to display the message to all drivers
/rcc_all - to remove the message from all drivers

To do that while managing an event is hard work, considering the pace at which things develop within and LFS Race.

I propose an InSim Application to do the majority of the hard work for you, it would feature the following:

Features:

Button - "New RCM" - Brings up a text box in which the user types their message
Button - "Display RCM to All" - Displays the RCM to all Drivers in the server
Button - "Clear RCM to All" - Clears the RCM to all Drivers in the server
Button - "Display RCM to Username" - Brings up a list of users on the server, click the name of the driver to send RCM to
Button - "Clear RCM to username" - Brings up a list of users who the message is displayed to, click to clear the RCM
Button - "Save RCM" - A button which saves the RCM to a database

Extra's on a 2nd page: Saved RCM's

A list drawn from a saved file (text is fine), which are passed used RCM's. Each has two buttons next to it:

Button - "RCM All" - Sends the displayed message to all drivers
Button - "RCM Driver" - Display's a list of users to choose whom to send RCM to

Also needed on this page would be:

Button - "Clear RCM to All" - Clears the RCM to all Drivers in the server
Button - "Clear RCM to username" - Brings up a list of users who the message is displayed to, click to clear the RCM

Some initial ideas, and of course, would be totally open to other suggestions etc.

I am not a programmer, there are obviously some extreemly talented people here, and everyone else taps into that, so hey, why not. Posting this up cannot do much harm.

Will admit I havent tried this one yet, there have been a lot of new "things" over the last few days and I simply havent got to this one yet. I like the idea of the track rotator, and that the tracks are stored within a text file..

Would there be any way of making it so the order of the track's is random, not known until the next restart happens?

Not a problem* as such if the Poster provides the admin password he has hardcoded into it.

You sure its all there.. I get four files in the rar.. they are:

LFS_External
LFS_External_Client
LFS_External.dll
LFS_External_Client.vshost

Upon running LFS_External_Client.vshost I get a crash.

Confirmed here as Connected to a local game, but the admin command does not seem to react. However, flipcams works slightly differently, as in Flipcams uses LFS Scripts and Hotkeys rather than Insim.

The LFS hosts subforum is becoming overrun with Notices about member's servers which are up for their own advertisement. It was my understanding that this section of the LFS Forums was not for the personal advertisement of servers, but for the Advertisement (with permission) of GameServer Companies offering LFS Hosting.

This is not the first time myself or another has asked for a simple stickied thread, announcement or generally a more active moderation to take place here.

I fear if this is not taken into account, it will just end up as another General LFS forum, were threads are posted for most attention.

Perhaps another subforum for Personal Server Announcements, or for Server Help would help to bring the LFS Hosts section of the LFS Forums back to its original focus and target group.

Have a read, see if anyone else has had the same issues as you do.. I had a quick look at the other thread, but stopped when I seen WINE. I did some testing for a server company a while back, and they were using WINE. Always had some kinda issue there.

But back to topic, ask in the lapper thread, they will help you

Not sure on that, I seem to remember it being longer than that, but thats something to be looked up.

On first look, your Server Name appears like it may be too long, for arguement's sake, try something shorter.

Where is the server running? As in is if from your own pc or is it hired from a company - If its from a company, contact them, they should support your query. If its from your own computer, you need to make sure the port (63392) in this case is open and accepting connections.

(I feel this may be a local server as the port used in the config, seems too high and close to default to be from a company, but I could be wrong).

Max cars in race is incorrect. For demo you can have 16 connections, but still only 11 cars in the race.

Rest of it is fine.

You cannot "get rid" of restart or qualify voting. You can however set the period of time that the host will wait, as in not allow a restart vote to be valid. To do this, set the following lines in the config file:

// no restart within X seconds of race start
/rstmin=60

// no restart within X seconds of race finish
/rstend=30
