PSU - Power Supply Unit. It's the big box at the top rear with all the wires coming out of it.

The 8800GTX isn't better than the 9800GTX.

There, are we back on track now?

Quote from Shadowww :How do you think, will Seagate 640GB HDD be fast enough for Full-HD movies (~40GB each (20GB per hour))

Well, 20GB/hour is 330MB/minute is 5.5MB/sec. Yes a 7200rpm HDD should be able to sustain that speed.

My question is why are these HD movies not compressed? 2 hours @ 1080p should come in at around 8-12GB which is much more acceptable. That'll also allow you to get more than 16 movies on a drive.

If you are not collectively comparing, could you say "Compared with you or I"?.

Use the SMG. Couple of shots to the head and the SWAT are dead, probably the best weapon in the game.

Quote from danowat :I find its very easy to be snobby with movies

VERY easy. Almost as easy as with audio equipment

I watched 'Sex Drive' the other day, rated 7/10 on the DB which means it fell into my 'worth a watch if its free' category (cinema films must be >8). Quite enjoyed it actually, fairly poor story and ending, but a fair few laughs along the way, which was really all I was looking for to fill the evening

Quote from (SaM) :Today I posted another true FML onto the site, only to have it being denied, just like 2 other ones that actually happened, while people post 5 FMLs per day with the highest amount of BS possible, which are all accepted. FML.

Today I was literally about to post almost exactly the same thing, but you beat me to it. FML

Tis actually true too.

You know, I never knew that Seems to work pretty well cheers.

Quote from Electrik Kar :For probably that reason alone, I refuse to join the cynics who downplay the enormous leap in graphics technlogy over the last 2 decades or so.

I agree completely, and would like to extend that to say people claim the time spent these days on making games look good detracts from the story or ingenuity of the game.

The fact of the matter is, back in the day of Monkey Island 1 for example, the people who used computers and thus used them to play games were geeks. I'm not going to explain that point, or apologise for calling them geeks, I don't think there's a need. But who enjoys playing adventure games with engrossing story-lines that take 200 hours to complete? Geeks.

These days not only has gaming been largely brought to the living room, it also caters for the entire family. It becomes less profitable to spend time and money on the story, instead money is spent to 'wow' people into buying and playing games. Which leaves geeks in the dark - and the rest of the population with advances in graphics like this.

I reckon the last few seconds might benefit from VBR, technically there's is no way to make it smaller without losing quality if you are sticking with mp3. It really depends on perceivable quality, which at 64kbps is getting on for pretty low.

I wondered this, I reckon it'd maximise across all 3 monitors. Which would pretty much write it off if you spend a lot of time on the desktop and wanted fullscreen windows.

1. It wouldn't be too much of an issue really. I'm a bit of a monitor nut myself but I wouldn't mind using different screens for the sides, there may be some colour/brightness difference, but nothing a bit of tweaking won't make acceptable.

3. With programs like FL Studio etc that'll work fine. When you're in desktop mode (as in not running a fullscreen application or game) you can place windows anywhere on the three monitors. It'll be largely beneficial too for music production

4. The triple head systems will really only be in use for full screen applications, so either will provide the same functionality in a desktop scenario. SoftTH will support that res, with a Geforce 8 or better card (which I see you have). With a single card, there will be negligible/no difference in performance between SoftTH and TH2Go.

5. Not too sure but you must remember to get the digital version to support that resolution.

6. LFS will be fine with those specs, I have a similar setup (slightly older, 8800GTS 320 and a E6600) and I got good framerates. I don't know about iRacing though.

If you want a guaranteed solution that'll work across all games go for the TH2Go, if it's just LFS (and iRacing if it's supported) just go for SoftTH.

Quote from Riders Motion :The viewing angle doesnt have to do with how far from the monitor you are. When you move from left or right of your monitor, the image becomes very dark.

It does, try sitting 5cm away from your screen and see how the colour changes at the top and bottom. The angle is greater the closer you get to the screen. The larger the screen, the larger the angle to the top and bottom.

Have they fixed it's f***ing non existent crash recovery yet? Because you know, it crashes at the first sign of anything flash

For some reason I still use Safari (Mac) as my main browser, as you may be able to tell it's crashed a few times on me recently, losing all 40 or 50 tabs I had open. I really should use Firefox... except as Shotglass mentions, the 10 minute startup time, and 50 million updates it does EVERY TIME get kinda annoying.

Black Hawk Down? CS:S mods like GunGame etc (require setting up first).

You seem to have a fairly comprehensive list TBH, really you want to pick 2 or 3 good ones and have some proper games with them rather than chopping and changing about.

Half the time with LAN parties is spent pissing around with networks and servers, in the end my mates and I thought right we'll get it sorted properly and got ourselves a tidy 24 port Netgear switch and a dedicated box. Everyones wired, everyone knows what they're doing, more time for gaming

Quote from S14 DRIFT :I believe they are less restrictive than the OE fitment filter so therefore you most certainly gain more than you lose. At the very least they have a lifetime warranty and never need replacing.

That's the idea/marketing pitch. I had a K&N I got for a fiver from a scrappy, obv made no noticeable difference apart from a bit of noise. Took it off in the end as it was just flapping around willy nilly in the engine bay.

Quote from Wikipedia :LCD panels using TN tend to have a limited viewing angle relative to CRT and plasma displays. This reduces the number of people able to conveniently view the same image – laptop screens are a prime example. Usually when looking below the screen, it gets much darker; looking from above makes it look lighter. Many displays based on thin film transistor variants such as IPS, MVA, or PVA, have much improved viewing angles; typically the color only gets a little brighter when viewing at extreme angles.

Because it's a 24" screen your viewing angle at the extreme edges of the screen will be fairly high, and so you won't see uniform colour across the screen.

VGA won't be as much of a problem as the TN panel.
