4GB of ram is nice, and with today's prices you might as well - however 'only' 2GB isn't a problem. If you take a little look at RAM usage when loading up a new game, Far Cry 2 for example, you'll find it'll fill maybe 1GB but rarely any more. Leaving another GB for everything else, which is more than enough.

Of course this isn't great future proofing, but don't feel it's a big problem if you can't stretch to 4GB.

I have 4GB, and more would be helpful, but then I work with massive Photoshop files on a daily basis and a fair amount more apps at the same time (Safari is using 550MB RAM atm :schwitz. For normal desktop use you're not going to encounter this problem.

Quote from AMB :Wrong, you need to allow your muscles to recover, so do 100 or so a day and leave it off for a day to recover, boxers lie in a Ice Cold bath for about 10 minutes which speeds up muscle recovery, circuit training is very good, basically workout 3 times a week for about 30 mins, eat the right food, but it's mainly if your trying to tone up or build up, also ignore all the crap energy drinks, redbull is not good for you at all, if you want some sort of drink you can have, (if you have a blender) bannana, milk, egg, sugar in the blender it tastes nice and it's cheap but you can buy proper protein drinks from holland and barrets which last quite a while. don't know what else to say, sorry for my typing it's late and i'm rushing it, no doubt someone will try point errors out in my post.

How am I wrong? I never said train every day, I know exactly what muscle recovery is. Do 100 what anyway? 100 situps? Good luck getting fit on that.

I know how to train thank you. Pretty much disregarded your post after you used the phrase 'tone up'. Oh and H&B shakes? Get the diet right first, then if needed add in a quality shake from myprotein.co.uk or similar.

Echo the comments from Psychoman on the sit ups.

Not only will doing 200+ not be great for you, if you really want to build abs you need to be doing squats etc.

For overall fitness try something like 100 or even 300 circuit training. That'll soon sort you out.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Is that like, an unwritten insurance rule, or that the no claims bit?

Either way, small mods like air intakes etc, most people don't bother telling their insurance company

Nah just really meant that any major mods are difficult to insure in the first few years. And by difficult I mean expensive lol.

I know what you mean about minor mods though, things like an aftermarket panel filter shouldn't cause a problem, but you have to remember the insurance company isn't looking to be nice to you, only to pay out if everything is in order.

No problem man, I sound harsh in my earlier posts but there's a LOT to read up on that we can't answer here without previous knowledge of the engine really. (Other than generic tuning answers of course).

I'm sure as you already know that's a great engine, sadly you won't be able to insure a modified one until you're 21 or so, but still a couple years of building beforehand would be good.

That site is I believe the best site for Vauxhall tuning.

Quote from sam93 :One thing I have to say is that I am 15, why would I have a good knowledge of how turbos/superchargers?

No one is expecting you to know about them. It's called reading. There's a huge amount of useful information out there, how about you investigate it.

Sure asking people is another way of learning, but asking such broad questions as how much power will I get by adding a turbo (or 2 turbos :really is just pointless.

Also I'm pretty sure at 15 I never had that question come to mind, however by the time I was driving at 17 I was fully aware of what was required to get a reliable 250BHP from the 2L engine I was interested in. And I didn't ask any broad questions like that, I went to a forum that was actually related to the thing I was interested in, ie Ford engines, and read what the hundreds of people there who had already done it had to say. That's how to learn.

Quote from Christopher Raemisch :ahh so everyone has to be an expert to post questions, but then if they were an expert why would there need to be any questions?

No, but how on earth can you stay so patient when you are asked 'How much HP can I get from a turboed 2L?'

Here's an answer - 0 - 800BHP. And the spec list would take too long to write out.

Good god man do some research. And I don't mean asking people in a forum. I mean research.

Then maybe you can come back and ask questions that actually have answers.

Quote from duke_toaster :Hmmm ... thinking based on the LXs in LFS

Wider track, wider tyres but make the car shorter in length. Change the styling a bit to reduce drag, too. I like four wheel drive, but I don't think it's necessary in this case

Why would you make it shorter? You realise that would be virtually impossible.

I'm tall, but I can only just get in my dads, with no room to spare. There is very little room under the bonnet, and the back is just taken up with a fuel tank and axle etc.

Drag is a problem, but then they aren't about top speed, that said the front wheel guards have flown off a few times at high speed, but the new Caterhams have grooves cut in them anyway to 'reduce drag'.

I think here though we should be talking about something completely new, not reinventing the 7.

Movies on a single 26" will look good, tbh you only lose 4 inches from the 30". They won't be any clearer on the 30" as you'll be able to display full HD resolution on the 24" anyway.

Don't span movies across screens though, the join down the middle is not cool and you won't be able to put up with it.

Still, I'd go for dual screens, 24" or 26" (or 27" even) if I were you.

There are wide body versions from other manufacturers but they're not very popular - certain Dax varieties support V8 motors etc.

I'm not sure what they could do to improve it really, make sure it doesn't look cheap whatever they do.

Anyone remember the Caterham 21?

Quote :...environmental pressures by exploring alternative methods of propulsion, such as electric and hybrid drivetrains...

Yeah that ain't gona happen. Enough of the environmental shit already, all you get is 'celebs' endorsing it because 'it's good for the environment' and it makes them look squeaky clean. F1 has already been taken over by it as far as I can gather.

Here's what they need: a light 4 or 6 pot up front, an extremely capable chassis, and supercar beating performance.. oh wait that's what they already have.

Ahh yer I see what you mean. Yep 2x24 or 26 will be cheaper than 1 30", and offer more 'desktop space' to work on.

But, a 30" will be better for watching films or playing games, anything that requires 1 big screen rather than 2 smaller ones. Would be very nice for normal desktop use too.

The choice is yours really, when spending that amount of money I make sure what I'm buying is exactly tailored to my needs, so at the moment I've gone for a dual monitor setup which works better for my work where I have lot of windows open at once.

This is good.

This is also good and 'only' £60 more or so.

Really it depends how far away from the screen you sit. The resolution is the same on both, so the only advantage of the bigger screen is physically more space. Problem is if you sit very close to the screen like me, you'll want a smaller pixel pitch which is where the 24" wins.

There isn't a great deal of difference in price between 24" and 26", so no, buying 2x24" won't be cheaper. The reason for them being similar prices is that they are essentially the same panels, just different sizes (VERY crude explanation).

Quote from S14 DRIFT :The UK has some of the worlds worst road qualities of any country in the developed western world, they are widely regarded to be some of the, if not the worst in Europe.

Maybe you just went on crappy roads in the States (some states had problems with their roads, like California), but generally they seem to have smooth(ish) highways, and their roads in town, and their lookalike equivalent to B-roads are way ahead of the ones here.

Ever been to America? They have FAR worse roads than us. Think about it, cost per head to build the amount of road they need...

UK can be bad, but they are nothing like those in the States.
