The main thing that determines which pickup you get is your position in the race though.

Have to say the online system is nicely thought out and works well

No.

And what is it with the absolutely USELESS thread titles lately. Sort it out people.

Quote from Eleanor SpeedGT :I put on some less grip mod too, i could see the difference and i spotted difference with AI too? They crashed much more, and really they drove quite bad with that mod...Turn 1 was like lfs demo server lol.

I actually like this game, I DO NOT expect sim, just a decent racing game with different modes/cars and offcourse good graphics, which this game has. AND much improved damage model (they are using dirt damage motor, but improved it).

When Im playing DiRT, i just sometimes literally stare at all those car graphics, so beautiful and when you start the race, they are still shiny and fresh!
Offcourse this is with maximum graphics, because thats the actual graphics setting that counts, when judging.
Doing crash tests with all those cars..mmmm....

Ooooh interesting, maybe I was just being an uber-noob, which is more than likely tbh. I think though that when you did the normal stages where you have to beat a certain time to advance to the next level, the times were much lower than, at least I, could achieve with the grip mod.

Quote from GFresh :Uhuh, yeah, as most of us do, but you're not my Mother....

HOW DO YOU KNOW?!

But seriously, not taking a dig, just saying that yer, that limit is stupidly low. It's been said many times before, and I'll say it again, 'unlimited' internet really takes the piss.

Realistically how are the majority of the population going to limit their download speeds :S

Wandered a bit OT here, sorry guys.

Quote from GFresh :no chance of hitting that 3gb mark.

3GB?! Christ I downloaded more than 3 times that yesterday alone.

Don't have Virgin Media, but I have had to deal with BT before. NEVER again. That took the piss completely, and cost a lot in phone bills.

Virgin Mobile however have brilliant service. Couldn't fault them at all, and even sent them a thankyou email for the help they've provided me with on numerous occasions (the only one I've ever sent to a company).

I guess Mobile and Media are completely separate entities.

As with Ian, I've tried to stay well away from it during my design career, and have so far succeeded.

We've just won a contract, which to be honest I wasn't very confident about at the start of the meeting. The client showed us a particular site which they really liked, and yep you guessed it, it was 100% flash based. However we proceeded to show and explain the flaws in the site usability, and how we could overcome these by completely scrapping the idea of flash, and using some other trickery, whilst maintaining navigability etc. They were duly impressed and gave us the job. And thus I shall continue my career without using flash

That isn't to say flash is completely useless, there are some very nice flash sites and designs, but 99% of the time it isn't needed.

Quote from batteryy :Dirt was good, only pecause it had hill climb and CORR. else of drit, sucks ass

Dirt was awful, because it had hill climb and CORR, which you would think could have been good, but were ruined by physics that basically meant you could just hold the throttle open 24/7 and occasionally steer.

What I DID like about Dirt, was the damage model. I though the chassis bending fairly realistically was good, but then again generally the only way it affected handling was to bend a wheel which wasn't hard to overcome.

I even put on the 30% less grip mod from BH Motorsports to try and make it a bit more fun, but as the mod didn't seem to apply to the AI, it made it impossible to progress in the game and unlock anything. Meh.

Will be awful. Anyone who's anyone who's played Dirt will stay well away from this.

Apparently they work quite well, but I'd guess that would depend on the quality of wiring in the house anyway. I was considering trying them in the house I'm in atm, as I get rubbish wireless stability in my room, but they are damn expensive (and the wiring in this house is ancient anyway) so I decided not to.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :@ PB, my mistake about dividing the cpu into 8. I know it came across wrong, but my point was that LFS will most likely use one of the cores (if its even possible to run it on the ps3) and so unless one of the cores use's most of the mhz, then that core that LFS will use will be significantly less than the total 3.2ghz.

Aye I know what you meant man, and yer you're right. I was just in a jippy mood earlier :P
pb32000

Its not 3Ghz/8, I'm not sure what the actual speed of the cores is, but it certainly isn't 375mhz per core.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :suspose i should have been abit more clear.

LFS is only able use one core, as i am sure you know. Now, the xbox's processor is 3ghz, and the ps3's is about the same, yet granted a little higher. The xbox's processor is a 3-core system, and the Ps3's is a 8-core system. Now, divide 3ghz into 8 cores, and get the total of ONE core. Then you will see why i said it wont run. As said before, the ps3 will handle the graphics part of LFS no problemo. As for the processing part, its a no-go im afraid!

Wrong.

Niko, you can't hava a div outside the body (nor can you center the body). What you need to do, is take a look at w3schools, and find the tag to position the packground image in the center.

There are a lot of things you can do to optimise that background image, but that can wait for now.
pb32000

Yer tis a res issue. Niko (is it?!), you need to set your body background image to be central, at the moment it aligns to the left.

As James said, you'd be best off putting together a nice and simple small CSS file to style your page, which will be beneficial in the long run. You can learn a lot from www.w3schools.com

Quote from sam93 :I now have another error. This time it is saying that D2Fea~16.cab is corrupt and cannot be used but if I go and explore Disc 2 and go to open D2Fea~16.cab it opens fine. So how will I get around this? Can I extract the folder in the FSX folder or wouldn't it work?

It might open fine, but do all the files extract from it fine?

Basically as others have said this is 99% likely to be a scratched or dusty disc, or a knackered disc drive.

The other 1% I would put down to memory errors etc, but that's very unlikely.

Great fun, my housemate got it on Saturday and we've been playing it for hours every day since hehe. There are advantages/disadvantages to each controller type, but they all even out nicely (I still prefer to use a Cube controller). Can't get enough of 4 player multiplayer

They send it to whereever they want to, generally their own pockets. Good luck at ever getting anything back if you didn't manage to sign for it the first time.

I think I've expressed my disgust for Royal Mail here before, I wont go into it again...

...alloy does mean a mix of two or more metals (or non metals) generally.
