Hmm I found a laptop largely useless at uni. It's quicker to jot notes down than type them up etc, thus I would go for the NC10 for day use then a legit desktop for proper work.

User reviews seem to claim a good battery life.

This is wank/annoying. I don't need to see some chav tosser misspelling his own name with a marker pen all over damn place.

Is it an analogue cable? Probably just interference.

I unintentionally just loaded Firefox on my Macbook Pro and at the same time switched my Mac Pro on... The Mac Pro was booted and Safari was loaded while Firefox was still pissing around 'installing updates', probably updating from version 1.1.7.8 to 1.1.7.9 or something equally as meaningless. n1 Firefox.

Quote from SamH :You'll still need hardware upgrades. The user experience is bottlenecked at your computer, regardless of where the computing is happening. It doesn't matter what framerate a remote server is sending you, or if it's capable of delivering superFandango Phyzx v9 graphics, if your own computer can't serve that rate to you and/or in that quality, your user experience will suffer. Upgrading the remote server won't improve it.

I know nothing about this technology, but what is the 'server' sending back to the 'client'? Is it just video and audio (and other effects if needed I guess)? If so presumably something that can display that on day 1 won't ever need upgrading?

At the moment I am very much doing option 2. I work hard every day with very little financial reward - however I love what I do and it's all part of the bigger plan for me. Work like this for 1-2 years (I'm about 9 months in) until I have a good enough portfolio to move into a higher paid job in the same field.

Classic kinda FPS montage video music, not too bad though, think I first heard of them for doing a song on Halo.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :
For crisp, clean response, laser is the way to go. Don't let the large number DPIi trick you. I'd prefer a decent laser mouse over any fancy optical gaming one. Unless of course, it was a laser gaming mouse (such as the Logitech G5, IIRC).

Lazer is shite :P

I have optical and laser mice and I can't stand the laser one (MX518 and MX400 respectively).

It's like anything, sure you don't need to spend lots of money on peripherals, but once you do you'll never go back to cheap stuff. My mousemat was £20 alone, but it was defiantely worth it, I have never found anything else as fast and smooth with such control as it.

WinPC Defender requires more than Spybot IIRC. I forget what though.

What is this lift off the gas when in the air thing? I've seen it mentioned before. Is it because the wheels are rotating faster in the air than landing, or is it a bug?

Quote from danthebangerboy :I see what you mean pb32000 but i bet that your windows is upto date. I am stuck with sp1, so in effect i am without 5 years worth of updates, a sitting duck in other words.

I am now managing to d/l ad aware se, at a very slow 7.32 KB/s, so this 32mb file will be over an hour

Fair play yer. Would it be better just to start again with a new Windows installation, then just go straight into Windows update and get everything sorted - will be a lot to download etc. Then put on your anti virus etc after it's all up to date.

Quote from danowat :There must be hundreds of applications for this type of data.

Indeed. We'll be implementing this on a property sales website that I part own and manage. I understand findaproperty.com already have ties with Google and will also be using it.

I think it'll very useful for us - especially as it costs next to nothing to implement, yet adds good value to the service.

Something I wrote on another forum I visit regarding nice cars on display:

Maybe
, but as Google say, it's no different to walking down the street itself. If you were a thief you'd only look at a place close to you (why bother viewing random places in the off chance there's a nice car there), so you might as well just walk there.

BBC claim 'dozens' of pictures have been removed - which out of the probable millions of pictures Google took, isn't much, just stuff like people going into sex shops etc.

Someone suggested Google should have taken 2 sets of pictures at different times incase there were issues with one of the photos - sure because I'm sure it hasn't already cost millions to implement this, so just doubling the budget should be fine. Idiots.

Quote from danowat :I am stunned by the shear amount of data google must have.

I notice that faces are "smeared", but numberplates aren't, I assume the faces are to do with privacy, but numberplates aren't covered by this?.

This data collection is a hell of a task, and must be costing google a fortune, not only in data acquistion and storage, but shear man power needed to collect, collate and parse all this data.

Seriously impressed with all this.

Me too, it really is amazing.

Number plates should be blurred - but aren't at some distances. They use automatic face and number place detection to blur them, and I think you can mark images if you find them unsuitable etc.
