If you are racing on an AutoX layout, then there must be a sector split and a finish line before LFS and therefore 'lapper' can record you have finished a lap.

Look for a file called addonused.lpr file (/default/includes directory) and search for the line

#include( "./driftmeter.lpr"); (you can use any notepad editor).

Remove the hash (#) at front of line (this tells lapper to ignore everything after the hash on same line).

Save.

Open your LFSLapper.lpr file (/default directory). Make sure $DefaultTopCar includes the car you are drifting with. The default line will read

$DefaultTopCar = "XFG+XRG";

If you are using other cars to drift with, especially XRT, then you will have to add these cars - e.g.

$DefaultTopCar = "XFG+XRG+XRT+RB4+RAC+FX5";

Try doing lap now.

For those that have wanted to make an AutoX track, but have struggled to put together a route, here's a chalk layout with lots of alternate routes and corners for you to Do It Yourself.

Just add barriers to channel which way you want driver to go.

Barriers can be just that - barriers - or cones, tyres, speed bumps, armco, banners, bales, railings, markers, etc, or some of each. Or use lots and lots of chalk arrows.

You can make route as simple or complicated as you want.

The White lined route was my original layout (slight rerouting change to my original AU1 Lap-Land layout), but then I added yellow 'lanes' for alternate routes.

None. If you have a favourite car, then try that and see how you get on.

I've never made a layout for a particular car. I just make a layout that I think is ok to drive - hopefully interesting. Down to person looking to see if they think it's something they'd like to try, and if so they can download - and delete if they don't think it's worth keeping.

The lane width for this layout is minimum 14.25 metres / 15 yards / 45 feet, so space for every car to be used, although some of the corners are bit tight for some. But a corner that might be hard for me to get round in some cars, is no problem to others who have ability to trail brake / heel and toe / use e-brake, have coordination, etc.

Personally, I'd find it hard to get round in FO8 and BF1, but that's just my level of skill. Or lack thereof.

When I put one of my layouts on my server, I start with UF1, then try every car thereafter (XFG, XRG, LX4, LX6, etc, etc, working through each car in the GARAGE screen up to the BF1). Eventually there's always someone who I can compare lap times to, especially XRT (for drifters) and BF1 (drivers who want to be top of leaderboard).

A layout for hot lapping, and likely suitable for drifting too.

I've included my original chalk outline. This is in case you don't like the way I've laid out the objects I placed, so will allow you to do it how you feel it should be done.

The chalk outline uses 573 objects, and the complete layout 912. This means there are 300+ objects that can still be placed, including marshalls, route checkers, etc.

Another, even longer, layout based on same idea.

Someone was talking to me couple of days ago about track design and Hermann Tilke (and how they don't go hand in hand), so I thought I'd design a layout like he would do.

They're both long (each over 1.7miles / 2.7km), each wide, bland, with long straights leading into hairpins and sharp curves, so will test your braking skills.

I've done few laps with UF1 and can't get under 2 minutes (actually, it's nearer 2:06 on Tilke 2 track, which is the shorter).

I've put Tilke 2 on one of my servers if you want to try equal my time in UF1.

L key is for Speed Limiter - it toggles it off/on on repeated presses.

For further help on keys, etc, search LFS Wiki Manual.

Wasn't really sure how you made a 'joker' lap, so just added extra section (the outside turn before start/finish line - see image), which you have to drive first, then the next time round, you have to take the tighter inside turn.

I've placed a start position as it made it easier for me to test, but this can easily be deleted in edit (SHIFT U) mode.

Basically a track layout with some jumps, all just slightly different.

Best done with 3 laps, in UF1 (using Hard Set).
Sonic

You could turn your "Pylon Collector" into Sonic, where you place walls in such a way that it forms a single route, some ramps as jumps, and pylons/cones (aka 'coins') in semi-circular, straight and other patterns, and you have to follow the route, collecting as many 'coins' as you can before you get to end of route, with LFS counting the penalties, which are converted to points or time.

Or put in multiple routes, where the driver can only go forward, and he has to get from start to finish, collecting as many coins as possible within certain time, or they are disqualified.

No reversing or turning allowed.

S1 to S2 will cost you £12.
Demo to S2 will cost you £24.
S2 to S3 will likely cost £12.
Demo to S3 will likely cost £36.
Star Wars / Star Trek Mod
sinanju

..... a Star Wars and/or Star Trek Mod.

Thing is, could be done by people with different levels of artistic skill, so more likely for people to be involved in, else only very small number of people (aka 'handful') would be interested. But if people could do small bits themselves to add to the experience, with a server specifically for the mod?

So instead of Cruise servers, you would have Star Wars / Star Trek servers.

The easy bit for most people;

- Make car skins to look like futuristic vehicles, whether that be rocket designs all over everything, or futuristic adverts plastered everywhere.

Bit harder, but still likely lots of people could do;

- Change trackside adverts so they're more futuristic.

Need real skill to be able to do;

- Change daylight sky to night-time sky, with stars, planets, space-stations, moons, rockets, etc.

- (Somehow) change track textures to look futuristic (maybe sky texture could be roof of spacecraft and road changed to metal floor with rivets?).

- change wheel / tyre textures to look like some sort of rocket booster thingy.

Quote from Texpelt88 :Youre missing my point sir....

Actually I wasn't, but I was just having some fun, as I thought it likely that if anyone had already dreamt of some sort of mod they would likely have either tried to do something themselves, or as sort of what you've done, raised a specific suggestion themselves.

The easiest mods that anyone could make is either car skins or layouts, hence by layout bombs.

Just think how much easier to come up with mods if, as part of LFS, we could get;

caravans
tow ropes
giant inflatable footballs
giant net goals

Anyway, I did have a sort of semi-serious idea.......

I don't think arrows are, like most symbols, UTF-8 characters, which is required for your insim.

Best you can do is greater/lesser than symbols (< >) along with a dash or two to make arrows, like
->
<-

or even
>>>>>
<<<<<

Nothing to stop you making these oversized compared to your normal text.

With a bit of imagination, you should be able to come up with something....see my YouTube video or attached image for some signs I've made.
AU1 Ski Jumping

This one is a a Ski Jumping competition, where the object is jump as far as possible, with additional points for style (not rolling).

To make it harder, you could put slalom / chicanes in front of the start so that it makes it more difficult for driver to get up a good bit of speed before getting to ramps.

Made a 7 hole Crazy Golf course on the AU1 AutoX area - more 'holes' could easily be made.

All you have to do is get the tyres in the 'hole', in one.
AutoX Darts, Golf and Shuffle
sinanju
S3 licensed
In any of these 3 games, you place a cone somewhere on the outside of the circle, you use your car to hit the cone, and ...

Darts - points awarded depending on where cone ends up, with double and triple points awarded if cone lands in inner or outer marked areas, with 50 points if landing in the bull area

Shuffle - as darts, but much less points

Golf - red circles signify marshalls, which if you hit, you get spectated. You're trying to get cone as close as possible to blue circle (the 'pin'). You could have different sized circles round the pins, with scores decreasing further from pin

Or. Substitute cone for someone else's car.

Go on. Give 'em a go. You know you want to!
AutoX Minesweeper

After I gave up on the maze idea, I had similar idea about making up a grid, like the maze grid, but using an InSim, make up a Minesweeper grid, where if you entered a 'zone', the InSim would give you number or hit.

Gave up on idea quite quick to be honest though, as it would take a lot of working out to put correct number in correct square, never mind working out the zones.

But if anyone wants to take it on....?!
AutoX Maze?
sinanju
S3 licensed
Whilst producing one of my recent layouts (AU1_A-Maze), I thought 'what would it be like if I made real maze?'.

All you need to do is make up grid pattern, put invisible, restricted area marshalls around a winding path, leave drivers to drive in one side, and see if they can drive out other side.

Once basic grid system made up, very easy to make up multiple layouts with different paths.
