Sunday night is Dead Men Racing's team racing night.

It works like this: 7 minute qualifying, fastest is teamed with the slowest. Fast man decides who goes first. Second driver spectates until it's his turn to drive. 10 laps, with change-over at the end of lap 5. Being on Ventrilo is a must.

It's amazing how the responsibility to a team-mate concentrates the mind!

The server is private on Sunday night but if you have the common sense to find out passwords etc. from www.deadmen.co.uk/forum you will be welcome.

We kick of at about 7pm BST

This is the most depressing thread I've ever come across. 30 year olds counting themselves ancient, for God's sake!
What's that nurse? I've spilt soup down my shirt again?

Well done, you've passed your test Now you start learning to drive. Seriously, don't end up as a bunch of flowers at the base of a tree.

Does it not bug anyone that you're driving an XYZmobile and sitting behind a Porch badge? However good that wheel is, and I see the jury is still out, that would stop me buying it.
Oh Jakg. Send it back?

Quote from troy :i didn't' laugh about the pic but the answers here are hilarious some of you seriously need the humor sensor recalibrated.

You're right, but to have one's sense of humour RE-calibrated, first one must HAVE a sense of humour. Just a point.

That answers my question. You can get the English channels etc. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not looking to set up a 'little England' but TV is for relaxing and trying to understand another language, any language, isn't conducive to a lazy evening.
Oh, we've received two of the three quotations for moving. One is £4300 the other is £5600!

Quote from deggis :

Doorman: do you have monthly bandwidth limits in UK? One good thing about broadbands here is that those are completely unknown here. I don't think any DSL connection here has GB limits.

I don't because I'm on a top cable contract but that is the case with almost all of the cheapos here.

That's very good news about the bandwidth restrictions. I did wonder about it.

Now here's another one for you. Television. From my experience of my brother in law's place the TV is abysmal. This makes it imperative to have Sky. Question: What kind of coverage does Sky offer? Can you get English speaking channels? Not for me you understand, but for the VAIMO! She'll miss the crappy property programmes and the animal programmes. You know the kinda thing.

Quote from Scawen : ....There should be a file lfs.abc in your data\abc folder with file date 8 Feb 2008.

There is now.

Being a clever-clogs I ran the patch .exe into a new folder a just dropped the LFS.EXE into the LFS directory after backing up the original.
I'm not a clever-clogs, I'm a very naughty boy. :slap:

Clicking LFS.exe Y10, produces a dialog box 'Could not load fonts'. Yes I have installed the Asian fonts from my XP disc.

I use the Logitech profiler to give me shift+f with one button press and the other F keys are assigned via the profiler as well. A kind soul PM'd me with the tip of making all the shift+F9-12 the same resolution (1680x1050 32bit) that way accidents are avoided.
I'm sorry you've been bothered.

Quote from AndroidXP :Shift + F9-F12 just changes to one of the configurable screen resolutions. Maybe Shift+F10 is set to a resolution your monitor doesn't support? Or changing the res causes LFS to stay black on your PC? Updating your GFX card drivers could solve that problem, but tbh I don't think this is a LFS bug at all, unless it really reproducibly stays black on different PC configurations

I've twigged it. You're quite right it isn't a bug. Shift+F12 changes the screen to 16bit. What I've done is make LFS think I'm asking for a screen resolution change. I'll have to be a bit more careful when pressing wheel buttons in future! :dopey: Sorry to have taken up your time.

Quote from shiny_red_cobra :Hmmm I just tried what you said and all it did was change the display mode to 640x480 (16-bit). Weird. Is this a feature or a bug?

Update. I've reverted to Y and it does the same. So it's not Y9 related.

This bug has raised it's head since Y9. I have buttons assigned to my wheel. They are: F10, F12, Shift+F and a macro that toggles repair damage for 'Yes' to 'No'
During the heat of battle I inadvertently pressed Shift+F button and the F10 button at the same time. This resulted in a black screen (which cost me the Championship, $5000 prize money and a new Audi!) This can be recreated by pressing any combination of the said buttons.Pressing a single button returns to the game. Apart from the black screen the graphics suddenly became very fuzzy, most notable with the text.
XP SP3
Intel dual core 2.40ghz
nVidea 8800GTX
2ghz ram
No overclocking.
Reverting to Y :-)

www.elisa.fi Click then "Tarkista Elisa Laajakaistan saatavuus ja hinta antamalla osoitetietosi täällä." Input your address

www.saunalahti.fi Type your address information and click hae

www.sonera.fi <- shite, I know, I used to install these and diagnose problems, very bad, it is last resort. Bottom of page, red text saatavuuskyselyllä click it and input address press Jatka, DON'T press tilaa it means that you order it

My brother has Nebula, I don't know about that much of anything, check it out too.

There is some others too, but some I don't even know of and some are too crap to list

Finnish laajakaista means broadband

Thanks. Elisa seems ok, €35-€45. Price is near enough as makes no difference. As long as they're reliable. There are companies here that quote £8-10 pm but they're very low end connections.

I'm also in the researching stage of perhaps relocating to somewhere in the Nordic reigons, I'm leaning towards the prospect of Estonia, who knows , my timeframe for this is 2010-ish.
Anyhow its a great thread , and surely it will be an interesting journey of life, all the best of luck with phase 2 and beyond.

Cheers Alan. That post snuck by me.

Which is the best cable ISP and/or ADSL ISP? Is it expensive? I'm used to a 20mb cable connection @ £37 pm. How does that compare?
This is important as you have to get your priorities right!
