Heel and toeing has become such a habit with me that I have enormous trouble changing down without braking when I don't need to brake! Does that make sense?
You must try it. Like you, I was apprehensive about trying an oval race but I took the plunge. The tension of a rolling start is fantastic and when you see the pace car peel off and the lights go green..... The sense of responsibility is as intense as hell. I only managed 15 or so laps before crashing out but my fingers had to be broken before I could let go of the wheel!
I've always felt that too much reliance was/is put on blue flags in LFS. One, it makes the lapper think it's his God given right to a clear track (it's not F1!) and it makes the lapee feel obligated to throw themselves in the scenery. You've given the answer yourself, just be aware of your position in the race and keep yourself informed.
I can't find out anywhere else and you guys seem to be into iRacing. Do I understand that there is no more Solstice rookie racing for the time being? I've bought the Radical and Silverstone along with a few other bits and the only option to race is the Radical at Silverstone! Frankly, I'm not ready for the Rad and was just getting to like, yes like, the Solstice. Am I consigned to the 'test' track? Just bought a years subscription too!
Sorry if this is a quote from way back on page 2. I've read every post in this thread and no-one has picked up on this. Duke, do I understand that you think it's fine to have a script that enables the pit limiter to engage/disengage automatically? Surely that means one could never get a Drive through penalty! The question of whether a script for gear changing leaves me unmoved as we're talking about nanoseconds but a pit limiter script sounds very much like cheating.
I'm sorry to horn in on a CTRA thread but are you, (S14 DRIFT) interested in racing or laptimes? Surely you go to a track, even in real life, and drive what you've got! I get the same complaints on dMr sometimes. I make layouts to prevent track cutting and I get "those bales are affecting my lap limes" Oddly enough, they dont! The good drivers dont even notice they're there!
The latest Logitech profiler (5.02) incorporates a facility to let the game make changes to the profile. i.e. when you change the degrees of turn in game the physical wheel turn is changed as well. At the moment, you can run a script that changes the wheel turn from car to car but you still have to change it in the profiler in order for the rotations to be the same as in car. Can this be implemented and if so how difficult would it be?
Sorry if this is a hijacking attempt but the subject is similar...I think.
I would like to be able to script the buttons used for various gears in various cars. i.e. XRT has five gears and I would like a script that would only assign shifter switches to gears 1-5. Better yet, to disable switches that are currently assigned to gears 6 and 7. I've tried adding the line '/button 41 gear_0 and different combinations on that theme but with no joy. Is it even possible?
Why would I even want to do this? I hear you ask. Well. it is a bit irritating to make a 4th to 5th change to later find you've gone to far and put it in the '7' position. This then fouls up the next downshift.
Thanks for your forebearance.
EDIT: Ain't it always the way? 2 minutes after posting this I found out how to do it. Doh!
Race_S idea works fine so we'll stick with that. We run one combo a week culminating in a 1 hour race on Thursday. Combo changes after the Thursday race and it looks as thought Sunday will be the team event. Last Sunday we got quite a few races in even though none of us knew how to do a change over!
So if you can drag yourselves out of the car you always drive and away from the track you always drive on, come and join us. Just remember we like to have fun but we do take it seriously.
