#1. It's called 'flatshifting'... Shifting up without ever lifting off the throttle. It used to seriously damage the engine, but since every car now has a revlimiter everybody who wants to hotlap just does that. The fastest way to shift up in LFS would be:
1. set LFS to use a button clutch and manual clutch.
2. Floor the throttle
3. Shift up to the next gear (it should stay in the original gear)
4. Hit the clutch button.
5. Watch and listen to the car automagically shifting up and take off in the next gear without loss of speed at all.
I think the rev limiter should be turned off for all cars when declutched (as in, clutch pressed).
2. uhmmm.. I'll just say 'No'. Like TAA said. Go to the setupfield to get most WR sets. Beware though. Some of them are undrivable for earthlings like most of us, and require aliens to be driven fast. Most of them will make you faster with practice though.
EDIT:
@nihil: Speed shifting is shifting without the clutch as I understand it (annoyingly impossible in LFS because all cars with a decent gearbox would allow it). Flatshifting is shifting without lifting, like in F1 or A1GP. Or I could have it backwards
The T1 is probably the only name for that turn that will ever stick... I've seen people refer to it as T1 even on the reverse track (where it is in fact TLast).
@Tweak:
At Kyoto, the turn you named Don Bikes Kink should not be named... It's an oval turn, and turns like that on the s/f straight are always called dogleg or tri-oval. You could name the straight Don Bikes Straight/Shute.. You specifically named the corner though.
I agree with everything you say, except this part.
I'd rather they keep going until they can clearly see the car coming up behind and can judge its speed. If they have no clue where a car is, chances are they'll slow down enough only to get in the way because they arrived at the turn doin 2mph just as you wanna turn in. If they slow down too much they're bound to become moving chicanes for others. Passing is easier when they are going somewhat slower, not 100 mph slower. Gives you more time to react and prepare for them.
Hmmm... Who will I give my soul to... Is it Wheel4hummer because he has nice big letters in his sig now?
Is it CHR20000 because I 'must click the link!!!!11!one'?
hrtburnout, because he didn't actually try to get any souls?
imthebestracerthereis, because he started this?
What's in it for me?
(I've had demons fighting over my soul, girls fighting over my body, but never forum users over my clicks, so humour me guys).
I've seen that before... When I broke my nvidia by overclocking it. It was running about 25 degrees too hot for it to handle, so it started messing up these vertices.
I got a defective card that had the same problem without overclocking. So if it does this consistently with different games (although LFS is extremely prone to it), then you might want to see if a different videocard fixes it.
Yes, and no... Alonso got a penalty for alledgedly blocking Massa even though Massa was so far away I doubt LFS would have given even a blue flag message. Those are the F1 adaptations of Blue Flag rules. They have no connection to the normal racing blue flag rules, other than the color of the used flag.
F1 is really a bad series to use for basing your blue flag rules on, because they are really different from other forms of racing.
heh.. Back in the day when I was in school, we had to design a computerprogram, so me and 2 friends started designing a graphics adventure. We came up with a company name, in much the same way except we used our last names. Company was called NiSaBo Interactive. Incidentally I still use that name... I've named my local W2k domain after it.
Define "computer-ish"... I found the "messed up color only inkjet" idea a good one for computer-izing the plain logo, without making it too obvious. But if you can sort of tell me what you want on the logo I can probably make it... Tomorrow though... Not enough time to design a proper logo today
Make sure you have the DirectX rasterizer file installed in GPL.. Search teh netz for it. I've had that problem before (decided to use software rendering which was slow and oogly).
When I'm being spammed with blue flag messages I'm not going to move over all the way and give them anywhere near a huge line past me. When I see the LFS BF message and one or two informative Blue Flag messages from the user I'll move over and slow down... If I get the LFS message and 15 "Blue Flag! Move ur az N00B!!!" messages from half a mile out, they just earned the right to attempt to overtake me. I won't fight them, but as long as they don't make a move, I'm not moving an inch. I hate when people go out of their way to annoy you with spam. There's a message in LFS that gives you the Blue Flag when you're supposed to get it. No need to fill my screen with your pathetic attempt at feeling superior.
Last movie I saw in the cinema was Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest... Next one I'm going to see is Pirates of the Caribbean - World's End (unless I get a girlfriend, then I might go see something else first). Everything else I just see on DVD.
Ladytron - Witching Hour... Marvelously relaxed 'hard driving' album. Especially Destroy everything you touch, and Fighting in Built Up Areas are excellent tracks.
