There are lots of people out there that actually don't have a problem hosting a server for someone.......

But yeah, let people know the reasons for using it, and you'll surely get a helping hand.

@drone wolf: They aren't mods of the game, they are mods of the forum.

As with every patch, always open up the NVIDIA Control Panel to check and see if your settings changed for the LFS Game Profile under "Manage 3D settings" and then the "Program Settings" tab.

Or make your own profile by browsing for the LFS.exe and put in some of your own AA and AF settings you want.

Quote from Bob Smith :I dug up an old shot of the specs of the beast and can confirm things could be getting saucy on the horizon.

By the looks of it, tire size needs to be wider if you want to recreate the LX8

LFS will and always will work better with 270 degrees or around there. I have noticed that you really cannot drive LFS to its limits when you use a higher steering lock because you'll be so much slower in catching the tiny little snappy slides LFS creates while you drive. You need a faster and more direct response by using a lower steering lock range in order to be the quickest.

Though I personally don't think the force feedback return-levels at a higher steering lock are at fault for why 720 degrees doesn't work well. Using 900 degrees isn't a good idea either, no car has that steering lock in LFS. 720 Degrees can feel fine, however the one reason I notice why rFactor gives better return feedback is because the steering is so rigid and the FF always feels rather fierce in that game. With or without the ReelFeel plugin, it doesn't matter, rFactor has always felt like it has a harder FF bite. I've liked LFS's FF feel simply because it is smooth and a less strain on my hands and arms. But nothing is wrong with rFactor's either, it just feels different. I can be fast in rFactor too, but in all sims, you can never be faster with a higher steering lock, so, sadly your test doesn't mean much . But still interesting to see.

I've grown to dislike the BF1... it is terrible for a league.

You need cars that get more into the thick of the action. Basically everything from FO8 and below .

To be honest, and as whacky as it seems... the MRT5 on small short/sprint tracks (not autocross ones) running sprint races would be my next ideal league to join simply because they are like a uber fun Formula Ford style kind of racing. They are slow, easy to bang wheels with and you can fit a lot of them in tight spaces . With the right setups, it is a really stable car too.

I was just at Laguna Seca this last weekend, and they always run the Star Mazda series before the big ALMS race there. Star Mazda are small open wheelers bit a decent amount of power and speed.... always fun to watch.

At the end of the race, several top finishers just had a little fun at Turn 2 (the hairpin) and were actually drifting or 'power-sliding' through the hairpin. Was pretty cool, because they could hold it fairly well.... but it ends quickly because the car either regains traction quickly, or they need to stop because it will slide sideways like Montoya.

It's very possible to power-slide, no doubt, but probably impossible to just do proper drifts by throwing the car around and causing the slide.

Quote from andybarsblade :bye bye alonso maybe he'll get a drive at ferrari now?? lol

I most definitely pray he does NOT!!! Massa is signed for next year at Ferrari, and I believe Kimi will continue at Ferrari next year as well. I think Alonso will be going back to Renault, but who knows, and who cares?

Sad to see Hamilton lose his amazing run with such embarassing moments at the end of this season... I wanted him or Kimi to win. Since Kimi has won it finally, it is something he has worked really hard for, and he deserves it. So had Hamilton won the WDC, I would've liked that too. But Kimi winning is good to hear I think

I am actually glad this mess of a season is over anyways. I am really anticipating the 2008 season where cars have no traction control... and that said.... Bourdais might have a slight edge coming from Champ Cars. 2008 season should be even more interesting than this one.

Don't be fooled by the cockpit vibrations.... if that is what you are talking about here....

All recent ISI based games have those vibrations, even if the track isn't bumpy. Because externally, their cars look just as rigid as LFS cars when it comes to bumps & suspension play.

Then again, LFS tracks ARE too smooth mostly, and about the only tracks I like are South City and Fern Bay specifically because they are bumpy in certain areas. All the other tracks feel far too smooth. And in reality, even what looks like a smooth track, many drivers discuss the bumpiness of the track. There just needs to be better tracks for tight racing with touring cars and such. Much of the desire to have bumpier tracks is due to the very large and wide boring S2 tracks made for the bigger cars. We really need better tracks for slower racing cars.

Sounds cool, but I'd rather not be 'tagged' with a rating from other people, as well as have 'requirements' for ratings on servers. Because the fact of the matter is, this is all rated based on opinionated users, and face it, not everyone out there are experts in judging people's actions in racing. There are always many different perspectives when it comes to rating a driver who is (or isn't) really a "5-star driver", or what ever you may call it.

If you are looking to rate someone simply with a 'good' and 'bad' rating system, it may be misused in ways that could be impartial I think. There are many drivers out there who classify good racing in many different ways. For example, uber clean racing where no drivers EVER touch each other and race like old posh gentleman every corner... they'd call that a good scrap. However, others find a little door-to-door banging a good hard fight, as long as it is safe and unintentional.... while the latter group would say that it is dirty driving I bet.

Every driver also makes mistakes, and likely do not do things intentionally for the betterment of their racing. That said, a rating system could not be fair in this manner too, because people may not be fair in deciding who was at fault.

You can only really base a ratings system on obvious and blatant poor racing behavior that is not tolerated on virtually any server we know of in LFS (eg. Wrecking & rough driving, cheating, bad language, etc), . THAT is one thing that LFS players do look out for in servers, because they know licensed servers should have cleaner racing than anywhere else. Although, like I said, there are players out there with pitchforks that really would just love to give someone a negative rating based on what they believe, or simply prior race encounters, or just have a grudge with them.

Also, for ratings to be truthful and fair, you'd need to do voting and reviews from every driver that raced he or she. Much like a Wreckers Barricade sort of deal, with proper replay review of an incident. Else the ratings will just be like a lightning round, and not thought through carefully.

Sure... it's rather complex the way I am making it up to be... but I can only imagine users bumping up someone's rating for good measure, when in fact they are not a good racer at all.... and vice versa for a user's negative score. The last thing I want is to feel unwelcome in a server because of a rating that is most likely unreasonable... and be hounded by so-called-elitists who 'have' a higher rating than I do.

I understand a reason for having a rating system, such that you want people to gain a better score based on improving their appropriate behavior when they are on a server... it just seems nonsensical to me, especially in the online gaming world where arguments flare up, and ratings are not always accurate.

I use this one. Not incredibly fast (can get 1:41's), but overall a good race setup to be consistent and quick in. It is basically just the Inferno setup modified for a 10 lap race. So tires don't overheat too much, and it is pretty stable overall.

I know there are faster setups out there, but I could care less.

I am probably the one and only person here that wants Hamilton to win. I'd like Kimi to win the WDC too of course, but Hamilton has done a good job so far... it should show in this last race.

Alonso better not win it...

Quote from ajp71 :I suspect McLaren deliberately kept Hamilton out in China, given that Bernie has Ron Dennis over the whole McFerrari business and would have probably made it clear to him that he wanted the championship to go down to the wire. Maybe this recent 'mistake' over guess what? Tires on Hamilton's car, was made on purpose as well to give Bernie the option of dropping Hamilton down the grid should he have seen it fit to make better TV.

Personally I can only see two outcomes of this race, either Hamilton wins fair and square or Alonso and Hamilton have a coming together and Rakionen takes it. After all everyone knows Alonso would far rather be beaten by Kimi than a rookie in the same car, who he thought at the beginning of the year would be the number 2

About the only thing that would makes F1 obviously staged like you are saying... is if it looked like this:

Since I cannot enter the competition (obviously)..... meh I think the only way to have any slight bit of a chance in winning is with an Italian name for the Alfa...

Alfa Romeo Meraviglioso (delightful to the senses)

Well you were getting all specific in some parts of the guide migf1. For example the turn after 2nd split... something about 35 meter marker, and then turn in 15 meters before the black tarmac for the last turn? You don't need to be that detailed because like I said, people all drive differently, and their exit speeds out of the corner could make these instructions a little off for them.

You also have to remember that not everyone uses the same FOV and/or view, so generally precision of where to brake and turn-in according to distance markers is not always the best way.

Make more of them, they can be helpful sure, but I just think you could do a recap of the lap (or corner of focus) and switch it to slow-mo (after you show each pause-note) showing the general braking points and steering movement. That way it is easier for viewers to interpret the driving -- because it is very hard to see/analyze the lap when you pause the video about 50 meters before a braking zone just to read... and then it speeds up again.

Just my thoughts. Oh, and you should maybe have some kind of audio when it pauses?

The black Chrono is very classic stiggish, I'd go with that  Looks like it has very good visibility too.

If it is your first bike, get a helmet with no decals because you'll learn that you will get it easily scratched. That is how it was for me and my black helmet.
