Yeah but i think that due to the shape of the spoiler the air that is going upwards is actually repsonsible for the downforce. The air that is going underneath is basically just passing through while nevertheless having a huge impact on the area behind the car. (just guessing here)
I think i depends on the chassis, the amount of downforce and the position and shape of the spoilers. In tin tops for example not only the chassis itself reduces the vacuum area behind it but also the amount of downforce, the shape and position of the rear end spoiler has an huge impact on this "area" due to massively distortion.
Take the GTR cars for example: the spoiler at the rear end is placed not directly on the chassis but like 20 cms away from it.
Now with a decent amount of speed the air can devide into two directions, up or above the wing and down or underneath the wing. The air that is going underneath is basically responsible for the distortion, making it harder for another car to catch the draft. Now the closer this car gets the harder it is to keep control since its front is usually beeing lifted by that air where actually the vacuum area should be and so the push pull effect is almost none existent.
But of course, if the second car is getting close enough and i mean really really close then it should be possible again to drag away together. The only problem would be that the second car had to look out for the engine temperature since there is no fresh air reaching it.
Now take a stockcar like NASCAR for example. There the wing is directly attached to the chassis making it basically impossible for the air to have any influence on the vacuum area behind the car. If then another car is reaching this area the push pull effect due to massive pressure is taking effect making both cars faster as long as they are lined up.
This is just my personal understanding of it and so please correct me if im wrong, thank you
I have seen many of them. Especially if you state your matter of taste towards something that is indeed related to LFS but not directly related to racing such as drifting or cruising. I also remember the time where you couldn't dare to mention that you have anything to do with the oval <insert creepy music here>. People tend to think that their own matter of taste is the law and everything else is just a waste of time or even worse. This was always the most annoying thing for me in this forum and probably always will be. Im just sorry for those that limit themselves because of some common mainstream attitudes while thinking of it of some sort of support but ironically it counteracts the idea of an community completely.
Apart from all this there are indeed some very good things on this forum. People help eachother in many ways or try to figure things out together no matter how difficult or complex it seams to be in first place.
I highly doubt that. but if so then we're most probably doomed
"Intelligence is an umbrella term used to describe a property of the mind that encompasses many related abilities, such as the capacities to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. There are several ways to define intelligence. In some cases, intelligence may include traits such as creativity, personality, character, knowledge, or wisdom. " wikipedia
First thing im doing is to see how many turns there are and in which direction most of them go. According to that i set up the camber. In combination with that some tire pressure adjustments are come in handy but thats not a must rather then a matter of taste or feel. Right after that i go over to the suspension which is for me the hardest thing to do since im not that deep into the technical stuff. I do know roughly what everything means but still, finding the balance is nothing im trying to archive with a mathematic formula or something. There is no wonder setup but only the setup that feels best for me and so i am going to find the best balance & performance for the entire track with the "drive & test" method . Then the transmission, most important for me is that i try to avoid shifting right before a turn. I hate doing this since its a waste of time. The rest is also a matter of feeling but also the info page in the setup is quite a useful tool (power / torque). Steering, over- or understeer, weight shifting, downforce, tire type & pressure, camber and suspension settings. Everything can be useful or break your neck. The question is how much are you willing to remove or reduce in order to have a better handling or saver ride.
Sometimes im doing big steps in a rather short period of time and sometimes im stuck with some settings because i need to know exactly what has changed and how it has an influence on the rest of the setup. Of course, when im online and aint got a setup for a given combo and i just want to have some quick races i just ask someone else for a trim. Learning from other peoples masterpieces always had a huge impact on my setups and sometimes there are settings i would have never believed that they would actually work out while using another variation of settings here and there in combination.
try this for the xfg. Couldn't get it any better and it starts clipping when other cars are very close around but well, just try it and if you dont like it then just delete it again
here are my engine sounds for every single car. Tested all of them alot and since im using headphones i hate loud and screaming engines so i tried to make them sound "normal" and individual for each car. (ok some are loud and screaming but according to my taste they are not ugly)
Edit: some cars get clipping sounds while having other cars around or when you are using lots of echo and pass walls very close or pass tunnel sections
i did it myself but only because it was "valid". Of course i agree that it shouldn't be since those curbs are obviously not part of the track. I wouldn't mind if it would be fixed soon since the lines you need for those areas are pretty strange and more a question of luck rather then skill because you either get into the invalid area or your suspension gets screwed and you shoot right into the next wall or get a line which leads you off the track.
While reading some of the comments i stumbled across the term twin and parts of the debate about it. I just wanted to say that for me as an outsider (since my knowledge regarding this matter is pretty much limited) this term sort of implies some kind of cooperation or choreographed (show) battle where there is no winner in the end. I guess it may be the actual and correct term but it just confuses me a little.
So my question would be: Does something like this (described above) exists and if so then how do you call it when a "normal" battle is called a twin?
Well youre right but not entirely. The main reason behind it is or was that he has shown how people in that time got ripped of by company's that used "big names" from movies or sequels from already good games where you should have actually expected a good game but due to the lack of information, meaning that you had to wait for a review in a magazine and even then couldn't be sure if its been judged by an independent source. Nowadays we have the internet and one can check pretty quick how good games are so its getting harder for those company's to sell their crap. But yeah he overplays that role a bit for my taste but its still funny overall
then i thought ill go and have a look if i can find something simular.
Angry Video Game Nerd is what i've found and he is basically testing crap games from the past while giving hilarious comments (which is the reason for this topic name ).
Start from the end of the list because its more funny since they are connected in a way At some point google/ youtube decided to remove some videos so he continued at gametrailers.com
